MC's press coverage / new album (37,488) by Stacey from USA
I was checking out the other day, reading of the magazines while waiting in line. I came across a ton of negative articles about Nicki Minaj, but nothing about MC. MC usually doesn't get positive press coverage ever from the media. It's a nice change of pace to see her winning the PR battle. She's taking this job seriously, showing up on time, dressing to perfection, and offering good critiques. Even ousted Jolley gave another good critique of Mariah's judging style while slamming Nicki. On a side note, does anyone know if MC is going to perform Almost Home or her lead single from a new album on AI. I feel like we only have about 8-9 weeks left of the show. She better get on it if she's going to use AI to promote her album. I feel like if she doesn't, she's missing a golden opportunity.

I completely agree with what you said: "Because once you put a statement like that out there to the world, then you open yourself up for whatever opinions people have on it." Very well said.

Mariah vs? (37,485) by Nattalie from USA
I was just thinking for fun and games, what if the industry did something like going in on each other type deal. But nothing personal and nothing serious. Kind of how like rap artist do rap battles or cyphers, but at the end of the day they shake hands. Ever since Beyonce came out with that song called Bow Down, I can't help but think of the idea. Lol. Who do you guys think would win? Beyonce vs Mariah. Beyonce can dance, and sing and has great beats. Her lyrics suck and makes no sense, her music videos suck and her voice is not as good as Mariah's. Mariah's voice is better, her lyrics are better, songs are all just about awesome per album. She can sit and sing and still be as amazing as Beyonce. But it would be nice to see these artist go at each other, not in a Mariah vs Eminem way, but something close but clean. For the sake of entertainment and good laughs.

Paying the price (37,484) by RadChad from United States
I think Kelly got what she deserved. Even if she wasn't speaking about Mariah in particular, it was still very shady of her to tweet those things. Like the saying goes, you get what you give. Personally I believe she was referring to Mariah. Now, why would she go there about a woman that practically put her on the map and changed her life forever? I would never understand. Having said that, celebrities need to stop acting as if twitter is their living room, their followers are close family members/confidants, and whatever they tweet won't be on display for the world to see. Because once you put a statement like that out there to the world, then you open yourself up for whatever opinions people have on it.

Lol. I missed all that mess on Twitter, but some of the shade is hilarious. These folks know if they shade a certain artist, they are going to attract attention and many of them do it on purpose. I don't attack, but I do laugh at funny mess. But it is sad, that some people only seem to know how to complain and attack, whether it's MC or people they perceive to have attacked MC. It's crazy on the web.

Isn't that contradictory to say it's not relevant to discuss Mariah's fashion choices and yet you discussed and dissed her fashion choices at length? Lol. If people like something, they have every right to discuss it, people certainly make it know every little wrinkle or flaw that they want to discuss on this board.

Kelly Price (37,481) by Licia from USA
I was so disappointed in how the Mariah fans were treating Kelly Price. For one thing Kelly never said a name. If she was talking about Mariah, she didn't say anything that the fans haven't already said. Fans criticize her voice everyday, so what was the big deal? Everyone knows that throughout the years Mariah's voice has changed and she doesn't sing like she used to. Why get mad because someone besides a fan said something? The lambs or fans (whatever you call yourself) were acting worst than Beyonce fans. I love Kelly's music and it was distasteful if she was referring to Mariah or any other artist, but noone deserves that treatment. It was her opinion. These social network fights are ridiculous. I love Mariah's music, but i'm not twitter fighting for her. Most of Mariah fans are too old for this mess.

Mariah's fashion (37,480) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I really think it's not relevent to discuss Mariah's fashion choices, because lets be honest, some of her choices have been disasterous. I like some of her clothing, but she hasn't been on plenty of worst dressed lists for no reason. I like the dress she had chosen for the first live show. The one she showed so much cleveage, I didn't care for at all. I think when we are discussing people, there will always be negative factors. Mariah is smart at some things, but bad at other things, like all of us. And it's perfectly acceptable to say that Mariah should listen more to her stylists, then to her own fashon sense. Maybe it's a European way to think, our fashion is a bit different from the US. Let Mariah do what she is good at, music. I can't wait for the new album.

"I Still Believe (The Eve of Soul Remix)" (37,479) by Billy from Greece
Does anyone else love the aforementioned remix as much as I do? "I Still Believe" could be such an epic EP. So many remixes, resung, reinterpreted, and completely different from one another.

I agree with you both re Mariah's clothes. Make no mistake, there isn't another "celebrity" I follow as closely as MC. I love the lady. I vividly remember hearing VOL on the radio at 12 years old, and rushing out to by the cassette tape. Lol. No question in my mind, I'll always be a "lamb". I love her humour, her sensitivity, particularly for other people, I respect her hard work, and the fact she has no problem making fun of her "divaness" it makes me laugh. Her music is the soundrack to my life in many ways. I don't always agree with her choice to expose "the girls" in certain outfits. Less to do with her, and more to do with me and my values, beliefs abd comfort level with clothes, I'm not comfortable wearing revealing clothing. Mariah can be much more bold than I am in that regard. I'm not against dressing "sexy" at all. I just feel for me, there are varying degrees of what that is. And I've never found dresses that accentuate any woman's "girls" popping out for the world to see, to be very attractive, you can accentuate in a dress without spillage. Know what I mean? Lol. For me displaying too much boarders my beliefs on self-respect. And I guess for me, Mariah's already beautiful, which has very little to do with her chest. Lol.

Almost Home (37,477) by Anonymous from
Mariah knows what she's doing. She's always wrote, produced, arranged, and sung her own material. Only one of her 18 #1's wasn't written by her and that is what makes her a rarity. She's got the talent and the looks. She looks stunning and if anyone can make a hit song it's Mariah Carey and I'm so glad she chose David LaChpelle to direct the video to Almost Home instead of Nick. His influence should be kept at a minimum and he should not direct her videos. The videos he's directed look cheap and he somehow manages to make Mariah look bad. It's surreal. I just hope for good music, decent promos and for her to use her voice in all it's glory. Whitney is dead and Celine never was a rival. There is no contest between Mariah and today's current it female artists.

Nikki from the USA (37,476) by Licia from USA
Nikki, what you said was brilliant and it made my morning. Lol. For the most part Mariah has been pretty covered, but if she didn't bring the girls out every once in a while, I would think something was wrong with her. Lol. It's a no win situation no matter what she does or what she wears, so she might as well do what makes her happy. I'm not always a fan of her clothing choices, but I love when she just says "eff the world, I'm going to do me".

Our Mimi on AI (37,475) by Robby from Norway
Sometimes criticism is good and it is essential, esp. to the Idol hopefuls. Our dear Mariah is very keen in every word she say at Idol and I respect her for that, we should all respect her for that. It is hard to be a judge, when everyone is bowing when they don't agree with the judges but hey, we all have freedom to say what we want or not want to say, but I think in the case of Mariah, she just wants the contestants to be inspired by giving them encouragement. And although we don't hear her say negative critics in the show, but she never gives "false hopes" either. So I salute her for giving this Idol hopefuls words of encouragement and really emphasizing to them that no matter what the world says, "If you get down on your knees and pray to the Lord, He's gonna make it happen." And Mariah is making it happen, maybe not to the whole world, but to most of us who believe, respect and love her. Love you Mariah, love my all my fellow lambs.

Styling (37,474) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Mariah's styling on AI since the live shows began has been fantastic. I think it's obvious AI are paying for a stylist. She looks stunning, even when she had the girls out earlier in the season. She consistently looks better than NM.

Mariah's girls, lol / Nikki (37,473) by Stacey from USA
Maybe it's me, but I don't need to see them all the time. It's nice to see her wear clothes that cover them up, but still doesn't take away from her sex appeal. Know what I mean? I think a lot times her dress takes away from her amazing talent. People, for right or wrong, focus on the lack of coverage and not the music. That frustrates me, because MC's music is that good. Anyway, don't want to go to deep down the dress discussion, so I'll leave it at that. Yeah Nikki, Mariah has her own way of speaking volumes without saying a word. She lets her music do the talking. Obsessed comes to mind. She is the queen of plausable denability. We all know the song is about Eminem, but MC can easily say it's all just in the name of fun. She is the queen at that game. No one messes with MC, lol. Nicki Minaj better watch out. She does not know who she's messing with. Ugh, just so annoying with her comments. Just another benefit to having a DVR. I can fast-forward past her comments.

Stacey/subliminal messaging (37,472) by nikki from usa
Eric, I'm impressed. You caught all of my run-on sentences. Thank you Stacey, I knew I wasn't the only one who felt that way. Except about the dressing, I loved the boob episode. You know how guys puff out their chests? That felt like Mariah's Aries vibe coming to the forefront to proclaim, "I'm the tits around here and don't you forget it!" Sort of a subliminal message. Her secret power source. I noticed Nicki was less verbal during that episode. Check that crap out. Since that night, Nicki's kept her chest continually covered. Mariah's working on a whole new level. Apparently, talk is cheap, but MC has her own way of speaking volumes.

Mariah looking fab as the weeks role on (37,471) by John john from UK
I'm a huge fan of Mariah. I never really write on these boards, but I'm off this week, so I've got time. Idol for me was a great step up for Mariah, new audience and all that. Yet now I'm not sure about it. It is getting better week by week. She's looking amazing at the minute. I loved the black dress with gold bits on it. I love the other judges, apart from N.M. I Sky+ the show and watch it a day later. Then fast forward her comments as she really annoys me. I put my partner through hell listening to Mariah all the time, but even he loves "Almost home". He plays it more then me. PS: I love this site and others that update me more than Mariah's site. So thank you guys.

Mariah's dress (37,470) by Stacey from USA
I agree. Mariah's black/gold dress was stunning. I know many here defend MC's dress options to show the girls off, defending her right to dress how she wants, etc. But c'mon, even you guys have to admit covering up the "girls" sends a better message. Mariah's dress choices during the finalists AI shows has been perfection. Her clothes aren't distracting folks from her role as a judge. Notice the media isn't focusing on them either, because she isn't choosing revealing clothing. I know, I know the media will find something to criticize, but I don't hear them attacking her clothing lately. I hope she chooses something stunning if and when she performs live on the show, so people can focus on the music and not revealing clothes, which tend to distract from the music.

Nikki / American Idol (37,466) by Stacey from USA
I agree. I watched last night's AI episode too and my only thought was Nicki is endlessly irritating. I had DVRd the recording and after 1-2 singers, I found myself constantly fast forwarding past NM's comments. The rest of the judges try to offer thoughtful criticism trying to help the contestants and then Minaj who must be living in her own reality. She's just nuts. For whatever the reason she continues to act the way she does, I could care less. She's just freaking annoying. Period.

What is Nicki's problem? (37,465) by nikki from usa
Nicki is good for ratings, because people love to see someone animated or being obnoxious. It doesn't require any talent to chew someone out. I appreciate Mariah trying to give the people singing something to shoot for, even though it appears as if her mind wants to say 100 things and her mouth can't keep up. Today, both Randy and MC told a girl she's versatile, but mentioned her strength in Rock and they wanted to hear more of it. Then, Nicki goes off saying she doesn't "have to" do Rock. She can do Broadway, this, that, or whatever she wants. Then turns around to her "little marshmellow" and tells her she's country. Can't the marshmellow do Broadway, this, or that? Every judge does their job without Nicki trying to trump those who, quite frankly, have more experience than she does. I also noticed Mariah really walking on eggshells everytime she commented. "This is just my opinion." " I know not everyone may agree with this." You're a judge, girl. Your job is to give your opinion while you critique, or mentor, or whatever. In that moment no one else's matters. Nicki needs to get some respect and check the attitude at the door. You don't have to agree with anyone, but no one's paying you to critique the other judges. The judges say their piece, you say yours and move on. Mariah will never show her real personality on this show because she has her guard up, which is a damn shame.

Mariah Carey my idol (37,464) by Anthony Early from Wales
This woman is my idol, because I believe that above all else, over-coming obstacle over obstacle she is the greatest female vocalist to ever grace Earth with their talent and I am so proud to be a Mariah Carey fan. Everything she does goes above and beyond and through the many successes and (relative) failures she has not strayed from being true to herself. And may I add her true fans. Andrew, the only reason I consider addressing your vile comments is to tell you how wrong you are and how vulgar your presumptions. Mariah, my idol, never change. Many have tried to force you and all have failed. Cliche but true - often imitated, never duplicated. Keep shining. Love to my MCA family. Lamb for twelve years and untill I breathe my last I shall remain.

If you're going to complain about all MC's bad moves, then at least get all your facts straight. Barbara is the one who called Mariah. Barbara said that from the beginning. You sound like quite an expert. I guess you've also sold over 200 million albums.
