About time / BMI Award (36,314) by Stacey from USA
It's about-dang-time Mariah got an award for songwriting. We all know she has an amazing voice, but what gets lost most of the time, is she writes these amazing songs she sings. Congrats to MC. Well deserved.

New song? (36,313) by Dani from USA
I came across a wiki page on the Mariah Carey portal that lists "No More Love Songs" as a song set to be released September 14 of this year (it's written by MC, Babyface, and BMC, apparently). It's described as a "haunting, R&B ballad". I immediately harked back to the NFL kickoff performance of WBT when MC mentioned that she would release a similar song in that vein very soon. The page was created by a certain Juwan Smith. I'm taking this with a grain of salt, but if anyone has any information, please share. "Haunting, R&B ballad" sounds like something I would like to hear from MC though. Let's hope that's the case.

Mimi (36,312) by Geezy from USA by way of NYC
First things first, Mimi looked simple chic last night at the BMI awards. I think that the tribute was nicely put together and both Joe and Fantasia did Mimi justice with their performances. Once again, Mimi congratulations on this much deserved honor. You are truly an icon and I can't wait to hear this new ballad that B.Scott is going crazy about.

For the BMI award dear Mariah.

BMI Icon Award (36,310) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Congratulations to Mariah for winning to BMI Icon Award. It's more than deserved. Mariah should take note of the songs the artists performing sang for her, as they show the type of music people resonate with. It's a massive honour to have Karen, Fantasia etc sing her songs for her. I can't wait to hear them.

New ballad coming soon (36,309) by Edge McQueen from Philippines
B Scott tweeted that Mariah's prepping up a new ballad for the lambily. Will this be her next single? I'm dying to hear a new song from Mariah. Hopefully this song will be a tremendous leap from Triumphant, something different, vocally-driven, and inspiring. I can't wait. Love MC long time.

Congrats Mariah (36,308) by Stella from Greece
Congratulations on your BMI Icon Award Mariah! I couldn't think of anyone else deserving this honor more than the greatest female songwriter of all time. Looking stunning at the ceremony by the way. Hair and dress all fly. L4L

BMI Icon Award (36,307) by RibbonB from USA
Super huge congratulations to Mariah for getting her BMI Icon Award for songwriting. Last night's ceremony sounds amazing and I really hope it was taped for airing on tv or at least on the web. The tweets from show attendees were amazing with performances of Hero by Fantasia and Anytime You Need a Friend by Karen Clark Sheard that tore the roof off. There were other great performances as well of We Belong Together. Mariah did that and thank God she is getting her due. She wrote them and she sang them and she got the award, as it should be.

BMI award (36,306) by Licia from USA
Congrats to Mariah on this award. Despite not liking her recent single or her choices, no one can take away what she has accomplished. She earned her spot. She's still a legend.

Managers (36,305) by Stacey from USA
The difference with Benny, though, was the guy knew how to tell Mariah "no". He was key during TEOM's succesful run. Mason, well said (36,299). The throwback remix is what people want to hear. They want to hear that voice that's amazed us all for 20+ years, not some song where MC is guest starring on her own record. With TEOM, the whole campaign was built around "the return of the voice". It worked and Mariah delievered a stellar album fans/public were craving. Lee is right. We should give Randy a break before he's had time to work it. However, given the fact he's been a good friend for so long, I wonder if he'll tell MC "no" when she needs to hear it. Know what I mean?

All I said was that (36,304) by Lee from USA
Clive Davis did not do that great of a job handling Whitney Houston's addiction. He pushed her into doing a world tour that she wasn't ready for and she ended up relapsing. Clive didn't have her back two years ago when she was getting blasted by concertgoers and the press. My point was that we cannot bitch about the people around Mimi and endorse managers that love artists only when they succeed. We should give Randy a shot before screaming for his head.

Underneath The Stars (36,303) by Edge McQueen from Philippines
I have studied Mariah's discography since I became a lamb in 1995, and for the longest time I still believe that "Underneath The Stars" should have been given a full single treatment in 1996. UTS is a masterpiece, it's Mariah at her best musically, lyrically and vocally. I have been collecting her CD Singles and I am unfortunate that up until now I still don't have a copy of the US Promo CD Single. I still pray that someday I will be able to own a copy of UTS and add it to my collection. "Drifting, drifting, drifting..." Lamb4Lyf!

Triumphant (36,302) by Lainsky from Philippines
I have been listening to my fave radio station (Magic 89.9) almost every day and it's weird I never heard yet MC's latest song. They are usually the first station to play after 89.1 and it's almost a month now since it's been released. I wonder how is it going in the US. I hope she promotes more the only Mariah version so people could dance to it.

Triumphant (36,301) by Ryan from the Philippines
Funny how non-lambs/fans and press appreciate the new single, especially the NFL performance while the lambs keep hating on it. Lol. Whatever it is, I still love the song, the vintage throwback and the live performance.

"Music genres and corporate cultures" (Keith Negus) (36,300) by Billy from Greece
"Sony Music Entertainment was, for those in other companies and for ex-staff members who wished to distance themselves from their previous employer, a record company that maintains 'a culture of control' and 'order' and a highly bureaucratic corporation - 'even press releases have to be signed by about seven people'. Sony was described as 'inflexible', a company in which 'people know their place'. It was frequently asserted that staff were motivated to work through 'fear' and 'paranoia'. For a number of observers this was perceived as an environment that had been deliberately fostered by President Tommy Mottola who, in the words of one person, 'instituted a reign of terror and really bootstrapped that company. It worked.' In a profile of how Mottola had 'rebuilt' the corporation, the Los Angeles Times preferred the adjectives 'aggressive', 'abrasive' and 'brash', an approach reflected by Mottola himself." Stephen from London, I could not agree with you more (36,299) by M from USA
What I found sad about the NFL is that the fans connected to "Always be my baby" like the old days and not "Triumpfail". But there is a reason behind this. After Adele dominated the charts based on her voice and simple I IV V song structure with easy piano melodies that were beautiful, one would think that Mariah and her people would come back full throttle on just that - the voice! Instead we got a rap song that did not and will not be remembered. What baffles me is her staff, her people, Randy Jackson, how can they continue this single promotion? You can lead a horse (public) to water, but you can't make him drink (or buy). Benny Medina and the woman manager Cyndi? Mariah had Charmbracelet era at least got the job done. Charmbracelet sold 1.2 Million copies in the USA without a hit single. I knew it wasn't going to happen, but this is how I dreamt of the NFL performance: Mariah wearing a NFL jersey, stripped down with no diva antics (fashionable late, no cheesy dancers, no guards to help assist her on any step on the stage and just sing). Mariah needs a touch of reality and one would think get 'em would show her this, but she is too wrapped up in her own world to see how disappointed the fans are. I still support anything she puts out, but damage control needs to be done prior to this new album. Give the people what they want. Enuff said.

Clive/Tommy Mariah (36,298) by Ali from USA
Clive Davis a reason to blame for Whitney's demise? I think not. Whitney had a bunch of moochers around her, mainly her family, and that freak personal assistant Van Exel or whatever that got rid of the drugs in her hotel room. Only Whitney could get Whitney off of drugs with the proper support and I believe Cissy and Clive were some of that support. Clive I believe was one of the few that never gave up on her, and if it was up to him I am sure he would rather have her alive and healthy with and not able to sing, then gone and dead. Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Monica, Fantasia all have nothing but praise for him (Kelly Clarkson isn't a fan obviously). I have a lot of respect and admiration for Clive Davis and would love to chop it up with him for a good hour or so about music and the legends he discovered/signed and worked with. I would love if Mariah reached out to him or he to her just to see what he envisions for this stage in her career.
I agree, I don't think Tommy is the fix for MC. Because of their personal history working together would be a disaster. He hasn't done anything extraordinary aside from MC, but he did sign Celine Dion, one of the world's most respected and gifted vocalist. (Not a fan of her music, but she is talented. If she got back with Walter that would be fantastic too.)

Tommy would be great but... (36,297) by Lee from USA
He didn't do much without Mimi. I mean, she won more Grammys without Tommy than she did with him. How come he did nothing with Thalia or Lindsey Lohan? Hell, Sony practically threw him out! As for Clive Davis, why would she need someone like the man who destroyed Phyllis Hyman and Whitney Houston? Whitney still had drugs in her system when she died, so clearly Clive Davis did not get her off of drugs.

Darnell (36,296) by Nattalie from USA
You're so right Darnell. Just like Whitney needed Bobby in her life, right? Just like how Clive Davis helped Whitney get off drugs, right? And Tommy would be a great choice, even though they got a divorce, and even Michael Jackson said he was racist, but the past is the past, right?

Nattalie (36,295) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I would love for Mariah to try make an album purely for artistic reasons, rather than for a commercially viable hit. Either is fine if I'm honest, just as long as the material is on point. Maxwell is amazing, and a duet of Cold, Love You, Fistful of Tears, or pretty much anything in his back catalog would work. I agree re John Legend. His debut album was banging. Don't know what happened thereafter.

NFL performance (36,294) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Triumphant was a joke. The live performance showed why Mariah shouldn't release such tripe. She couldn't perform most of the song because she barely appears in it and the chorus is just not up to it. The song can't be performed live. Mariah should have forgotten about that song from weeks ago. Put it to bed, and never let it be heard in a live setting again. She's lost touch musically, is out of touch with her fans, and needs to get a firm grip of reality. What people want isn't miraculous. It should be easy for someone of Mariah's vocal ability. Her voice can find melody in mumbling someone's name for goodness sake. All she needs is a simple song, well written, where she sings her arse off. She needs to go back to the drawing board. Her older material worked very well. She sang WBT amazingly well. The voice is clearly still there. She just needs to refocus or ultimately, not bother making music for a while. I don't want to hear any more of this kind of crap.

You haven't been paying attention, Mariah's managers hang very close with her. Benny was always there and always in pictures and so was Christ Lighty. The time she was in Brazil he was her constant. Randy has always been around first as her music director and over the years he has contributed and now he is part of her management team. Mariah herself says she is responsible for her business decisions and she has fired management in the past.

Darnell (36,292) by RibbonB from USA
Please have a seat. Slavery has ended. The 90's are over as well. Mariah made the music she felt then and she is making what she wants now. She is not a puppet or a patsy. People need to put on the records they want to hear or just deal with what Mariah is giving now. It's her life and career and her music. None of her managers have written one tune for her.

Throwback album (36,291) by Ali from USA
I hope to wake up and come to find out that "Triumphant" was just a bad dream. Lol. I still have faith in this album. I've been tweeting her names of producers I'd love her to work with, but she probably thinks that I am crazy. Would totally be down for a retro-throwback album like Amy Winehouse, which is why I am insistent that she works with Mark Ronson. I loved "It's A Wrap".

Darnell (36,290) by CDC from CA
What she needs to do is rid herself of the team that currently surrounds her. Start off with Randy Jackson. I'm catching up on Mariah news, and I can already tell he's like a parasite. The BET honors, he was there; the BET awards, he was there; last night, he was there. Suspiciously, he was in all the photographs. This was never the case with Benny Medina or Chris Lighty. All this would be fine if he (Randy) were doing his job properly. But more and more I'm beginning to believe that he is more self serving in his professional relationship with Mariah. LA Reid has also worked extensively with Mariah, and yet he was never the name dropper on X-Factor as Randy Jackson has exhibited himself to be on American Idol. A Princess Diana complex, this is. For years, Diana was thrown into a pool of courtiers whose active duty was to work her dry, without having a single regard for her personal feelings. Sound familiar? Now, Mariah has surrounded herself with people who worship her more than work for her.
