I sure do hope so. Her creativity has been on a creative high lately. I believe the Lambs won't be disappointed about what MC has been cooking in the studio. We know she has had 6 years to give us a Thriller type of album. Lol, Edward.
The BET Awards are this Sunday. Maybe MC will join Muni Long on stage for the Made For Me remix.

I'm currently at this music-related conference. I spoke with this woman who is a biographer/historian of women musicians, so of course I bring up Mariah. She tells me that she is voting member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction committee. She told me about the woman who gave an impassioned speech on why Mariah should be inducted and the people cried. Then there is a music journalist who is here. I walk up to him and say, "Hey, Alan. I'm a huge Mariah Carey fan. In 1997 you told the Baltimore Sun this about Mariah..." Shocked, he laughs, and we chat about Mariah and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - he, too, is a voting member.

Bruno Mars is on the table too. I think MC has finally realized that she is going to have to step out of her comfort zone and collaborate with new producers. I am all for an album with songs with from Bruno Mars, Anderson Paak, Rai Khalil, and Solange. Her recording time period for this album is going to be her longest time yet from 2021-2025.

I don't like the processing in B and M's vocals. I couldn't even tell that was Monica in the second verse. Maybe that affect works in Ariana's voice, but it made B & M sound like AI. It is a fabulous song though. This type of mid-tempo is what I would love to hear from Mariah.

Ya it would have been a fun duet. The remix is slightly different than the original although mostly same probably because of the chart rules. Instead of Ariana doing the verses Brandy and Monica takes turn in verse 1 and 2 with Ariana doing the chorus and backgrounds. The bridge is new and the outro is longer with new ad libs.

She has been practicing lip synching (106,781)
by Alexis Carrington-Colby from United States

Can I ask a real question? What does all of this defense do for you? You have crafted an entire defense that sounds absolutely fantastical. What unspoken truths don't you want to say out loud that you've been compelled to craft this argument to provide some cognitive dissonance in order to remain a "real lamb"? I want to understand the psychology behind this "slay, queen" mindset in the lambily.

She has been practicing lip synching (106,775)
by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway

I think what has happened the last couple of years, is that Mariah has had a very good lip synching coach. We all know Celine Dion is the master of lip synching, nobody accuses her of doing it, but we all know she has almost whole concerts with just lip synching.
Mariah is relaxing on stage now, doesn't try to pretend to sing live, just doing the emotions in her face without lifting an eyebrow, and it works, it actually looks like she is singing, it works brilliantly.
The playback is her real curent voice, but to not experience the fear of being caught out, she does that now, I sing it's soothing for her.
And, by the way, Mariah is being seen the heroine in this Jen**fer Lo**z downfall, and that might have something to do with new found respect Mariah is recieving in the world right now. Mariah called out the girl she doesn't know in a very classy way 25 years ago. Karma is a bi**h, isn't it?

Even she has "forgotten" some of the #1 hits. We're in a safe space here - we don't need to use those "defend my queen" arguments that we use in other places. Y'all have overplayed that #1s argument so much that if one of these new girls ever gets 20, y'all will be sick about it. Look at that way [Old town road] destroyed some of yall. Let.

Praying for the album (106,779)
by Alexis Carrington-Colby from United States

I actually don't want her in album phase right now. I like her hopping in remixes (she needs to time them better). Madonna been doing the same thing. I'd like yo see Mariah collaborate on random songs and do some soundtracks. That way, she can create music without all of the pressure of having to promote and carry the outcomes of its success or failure-primarily the failure. It would also give her a chance to update her sound and experiment - she's got to get out of the rut she's been in since 2005. I'd love for her to collaborate with international artists. Jump in a remix with a popular Australian artist. Collab and sing the hook on a track of a popular Asian artist. She could do so much more without having to do a lot. There is so much emphasis placed on #1 hits, but we would all take a solid top 10 hit from her that actually stays in the charts for a while.

If a long time between albums happened in the 90s, I wonder what would be MC's response for the long wait. MC would probably say that she wants to record more songs to sequence the album perfectly or correct some vocal moments. Being the perfectionist that she is, it has to be really hard for her in 2024. She has to have at least 50 songs recorded by now. Right?

Tiny Desk (106,778)
by Alexis Carrington-Colby from United States
| |
|
|
I say no because Mariah is so uptight and stiff that she wouldn't be any fun. It's like her carpool karaoke - it was stiff, dull, and she wasn't warm or engaging. And then we have the vocals. TD is about a vibe and being in a moment. She'd want to move cameras and lighting to play into her diva antics and insecurities. Her setlist would be dull and predictable. When it comes to banter, she'd either be distant and muted like she was on the Jennifer Hudson show, or she'd be manic and rambling. Lastly, she's so in her head about her vocals that I could see it taking 6 months for TD episode to come out because she'd want to edit, dub, etc. Plus, TD is an all live venue, what 5-7 songs would Mariah sing that would 100% live that she'd be okay releasing to the public?

The collaboration helped Joe's album sales and singles rise on the charts from 2000-2007. TGIFY was Joe's first number #1 song on the Hot 100. Stutter released in 2000 became his second #1 song.
MC's collaborations has helped other artists careers like Nas, Mystikal, Fabolous, Meek Mill, Miguel, and The-Dream rise to new heights for album and single chart dominance.

I hate the way she often speaks in a non-definitive way. It can be hard to know if she's being fully honest - especially in print. Why not just say "no"? Her "who said that?" answer kinda gave me the impression that she didn't want to or couldn't speak about what may have been some truth to the rumor (a meeting with Lauryn, disagreement, label issue, etc).

Finally a Lamb who knew the right questions to ask. We found out that the Crystal Ball Lauren Hill song was just Lamb myth. There is Rainbow tour and MTV promotion footage that she is looking for. And last but not least, a new music is coming soon. MC said that she was in the studio this week with someone who shall be nameless. It is really good that she is revisiting Rainbow before she releases a new album since it was such a turning point in her career.

I agree. Unlike her solo versions of "Whenever You Call" and "Against All Odds", Mariah wasn't in her best vocal form during this period, and it shows in these previously unheard vocals. Right. She sang the 2nd verse in such a lazy way to me than the first verse. Something is just off with her second verse. Anybody notice that 98 Degrees background are very prevalent and extra loud on the solo version than the album version? I think all three harmonized together on the album version.

The question becomes what do they mean by "original mixing problems"? Does that mean the mixes we've known for 25 years are not what she initially wanted? Are these new mixes what 2024 MC prefers?
I just realized that on Spotify the OG album has been updated with these new mixes and that's annoying. I was listening to the climax note of the Vulnerability interlude and the ending of that sustained note is missing something that was in the OG.

It won't. Why would it? It's "interesting" how so many lambs are suddenly feeling for Celine and seemingly co-opting her heartbreaking condition as a nebulous way to explain Mariah's vocal state. Is it possible that Mariah also has something going on that has impacted her voice? Yes. Is it also possible that improper maintenance is the cause? Yes. The former absolves Mariah of responsibility and places her in a position of being a victim-something I've noticed lambs love, Mariah as a perpetual victim. The latter holds her responsible, at least in part, and that isn't something the lambily likes to do.

I've been watching clips of her interview in the lead up to her documentary, and it is heartbreaking to see her so vulnerable and open about her condition, and demonstrating how it affects her singing so much. SPS sounds horrible and so debilitating, but reminds me of the behind the scenes documentary for her Taking Chances show, and how even then she was battling this condition, without knowing what it was then. I hope, that for us fans, this puts a collective stop to the endless and exhausted debate on not just Celine's, but Mariah's singing voice and state of being.

Can we all stop complaining about the vocals? She can still sing. These are the issues: 1.) Too-tight clothes 2.) Breath control And they are tied together. Mariah still had the voice, she had just got to use a vocal coach to figure out the breath control she used to have. She should not be too big to think she could do with a vocal coach. Once she works out how to keep her breath in a new, older body, she will be back on top vocally. She'll have extra rasp but will still sound amazing, if not better.
By the way have ya'll read Why Mariah Carey Matters? That will definitely shut up all the complaining.
