I've seen her many times. I used to follow her on Instagram. She went on Wendy Williams one time dressed as Mariah for a Halloween episode and I've seen her on this parody from Todrick Hall too called "Cell Black Django".

Muni Long what? (112,523)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|

I would say that MC shoud fly down to Atlanta in January to work on a song with Tricky, Ben Parris, and Terius Gesteelde-diamant just for fun of it. Who knows what the writers of Delulu will come up with in the studio? Maybe something better than Delulu. I do miss the vibe of Memoirs that The-Dream and Tricky gave MC.

I think 2 things can be true. I think Muni is dead wrong. I also think Mariah has a smart mouth and sometimes it gets her into situations where a wiser response wouldn't land her.

Muni Long what? (112,525)
by BFF from United States
| |
|
|
The thing is, Mariah wasn't rude to Muni Long and didn't say anything negative about her. That shot of her at the awards show during the tribute was taken out of context and was soon after her mother and sister passed away. Mariah was clearly out of sorts, was trying to put on her best game face, and had no idea what she looked like on camera. She even thanked both Muni Long and Tori Kelly during her acceptance speech.
Mariah saying she doesn't like people covering her songs after the fact is not a diss. It doesn't necessarily mean she thinks Muni Long did a bad job. Maybe she doesn't like people covering her songs because it puts her on the spot to "say something nice" regardless of the quality of the cover?
Muni Long knew exactly what she was doing and got the reaction/outcome she wanted. Too bad that she's so insecure that she cannot have the focus be on her talent alone.

I think we should all get over the business side of her career now. She has done it all. She's been on top of the charts more than anyone else in history. She has an exquisite back catalogue that she can perform whenever she likes throughout the year which she also owns the masters to. She has her yearly Christmas show. She is widely seen as a legend. What more can she and we ask for? Do we need her try and compete with the youngsters, who also sometimes deserve their time in the spotlight? Do we want her compromising on her sound so the music is "current" but not really her?
She is now at the stage where she can, and needs to, sit back, survey her career with glee, and enjoy her leisure time. She's got two beautiful children, one of whom apparently wants to join the singing business, meaning Mariah can mentor her and do what she can for the success of her next generation.
I don't think we fans can expect any more of her. She brings out a new album for her die-hard fans and it matters not how it charts. We should be on the floor praising the Lord that she has bothered to bring out new music for us, when she absolutely doesn't need to any more.
Mariah has given us so so much. An ouvre that she and we can be deeply proud of and go back to again and again, a timeless catalogue of stunning hits and exquisite vocals. Her recent performances have come despite all of the grief from her personal life, and despite her mental health, which due to bipolar's nature will only progressively get more difficult to deal with.
She is doing the most, for us, and what I want to tell Mariah, that woman who we should be so amazed to have been around to witness in her prime, is rest. Do not worry about your career, stop performing when you don't want to. Pop up a couple of times a year to keep the money you fully deserve rolling in, to sing your hits , knowing you have a solid fanbase who will always turn out for you when you're in town. Celebrate the Christmas period with us, then go back and hibernate, help dem babies with whatever they have going on, and never think for a second that because you might be being quiet, your status as a legend is in any doubt.
Those of us trying to strategize how to keep her in the headlines and at the top of the charts are just applying unnecessary pressure on her, making her think she's got to keep up the insane work ethic lest we all disappear. We need to just enjoy what she has already achieved, and allow her to spend the rest of her life lounging on the beach and popping up now and again.
I would personally enjoy some more writing for another book. Perhaps one delving into her music catalogue, with the stories behind them and their recording, her take on some of the fabulous moments in her career like Divas Live with Aretha, or her first ever performance when she sings America the Beautiful to the sports stars, etc. We'd all love to know more about her from the perspective of her music, now she has already given us her perspective on her personal life and history. We want info on the music now.
I also would definitely not object to a concept album where she sings jazz standards, or sings over some amazing dance music. Mariah over some hot current beats. Basically using her voice in different ways, as it is an instrument. Basically just flirting with whatever bits and bobs she likes, with zero pressure.
It's what Mariah deserves. We should all be thankful that she is still here to receive her flowers and enjoy this stage of life, given how many of our stars pass away before they get to reflect on their careers.
I shall shut up now. Not criticising you, merely advocating for us to stop thinking Mariah needs to do any more than she has. Mariah has had a stellar career and I can't understand why people want even more from her. Can we not just enjoy what we already have and stop pressuring her for even more?

I looked it up, apparently Fibromyalgia is likely caused by a complex interaction of genetics, neurological changes, environmental triggers, and stress, leading to central sensitization, an amplified pain response in the nervous system.
Often triggered by an event, such as: infections, injury, surgery, emotional trauma (e.g., PTSD, overwhelming stress)
We may never truly know, as she is a private person, which is entirely her right, but certain aspects do seem to make sense.
For me, the most painful part was witnessing the entire world watch her being exposed for lip-syncing in such a jarring way. It is already not normal for billions of people to know a human being. What more when something personal you've tried to protect, be revealed so publicly and in such a humiliating fashion. I will never comprehend what that does to one's psyche.
Mariah has long since recovered as she's done countless of shows and people are still showing up but just the fact that her body had to actually experience that kind of shock saddens me.
Anyway, what ever it is, I can attest she is really doing the best with what she's got. Let's all uplift Mariah's health in prayer. I pray she also takes the time to get the rest and healing her body needs, so she can keep doing what she loves and make music for the multitudes.

Maybe because it's not as good as her former work. That's pretty easy to see. The songs are nice. But there are no hits and if she would've released this instead of E=MC2 after the Mimi era people would've been shocked. Just go back and listen to how polished and expensive her past albums were, especially Glitter. Money doesn't make a good song, but it can make an average song sound good. I actually believe this is just a collection of songs that she put together in the last seven years until she had enough to justify an album release. It's funny because with Caution everyone said if other artists released those songs they would be massive hits, but nobody is saying that for any of the songs on HFIA. I also think she got tired of the question on when is she releasing. Rihanna just ignores it and refuses to put out something that is less than her previous work. Mariah is being managed by her former tour manager and a super fan who ran a website in the past. Nothing screams expensive except those diamonds she has pictured on the album cover. She was bored in the interviews. She's over it. I'm glad she finally has some MTV Moon Man for her shelf. The last thing for her really is the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The European leg of that tour, especially London of which I attended, was sensational and needs to be released on audio or DVD, whatever they have. There were tripods set up at London to film sections and take photographs, and Rotterdam was filmed professionally but never released. Japan was literally the worst of all the dates as 1) she lipped a lot of it 2) the upper register was weak and airy and 3) her outfits for Europe were way better.

What's left from the Daydream era?
1. If indeed the OSD video was the real making of the song, release the entirety of the footage. Same for the remix of ABMB.
2. We've never seen the full Steven Meisel photoshoot for the artwork. Release it.
3. It's clear that some of the European dates of the Daydream tour were filmed. Release it - even if it's just select performances
4. Where is the acapella release that the other albums got? I want to hear a "sweet acapella" of I Am Free, when I Saw You, and especially the album version of Fantasy.
5. I would like to hear a merger and sequence of Daydream and Ugly Daughter. I want to hear the songs she worked on in the day and then the secret grunge she did at night. A cute title like "Twilight Daydreams" would be cute.
6. There is all kinds of merch that could be released.

Why was the second disc a Daydream live tour? It could've been literally anything, it could've been the live Charmbracelet tour. But it was 2020 which was the 25th anniversary of Daydream. Maybe if she held off on including that disc then you would get it this year on the 30th. Maybe there's nothing worthwhile left from Daydream.

Dropped three singles that had a variety of success on different charts, 1 quality video, did a healthy and packed promo run of radio and a variety podcast interviews both in US and UK, some TV appearances of varying quality, 1 stunning magazine cover, a few awards picked up along the way (1 of which for the current project), performed at some high profile festivals and concerts at various locations across the globe (Sandringham had the huge QR code for everyone to scan to save the album on Spotify) on the lead up which resulted in mostly positive press, more TV appearances, in-person album signings for the fans, new merch in support of the album, a few variants of the album available for purchase, a solid roll out of the album (right from the teaser to the album title and art reveal) on social media, live snippets recorded and posted on social media in the week leading up to launch. All of which resulted in positive album reviews and a decent placements on various BB album charts. I think she did enough.

I hope she learned her lesson. I've said it a million times, seven years is way too long for a current artist, and for a legacy artist, it's basically career suicide. The thing is, since "Caution", the only decent thing she's put out is the acoustic version of "Close My Eyes". Everything else, including "Falling in Love at Christmas", has been pretty meh. "Save the Day" was another letdown. "HFIA" proved that when she really puts in the effort, she can still deliver something amazing.

Is Here for It All to Mariah what I Look to You was to Whitney? It was agreed upon by her fans that Whitney didn't need to tour with that album, but what else could've been done to promote it? Similarly, I don't think Mariah is in the space nor has the interest to tour, so what should her PR strategy for the album be?

Mariah would never sing a current popular singer's song. She also would never work with JLo. But you got me thinking what she could've done for HFIA. She could've pulled a Michael Jackson and done a double disc called "Herstory" and the first disc could've been an updated greatest hits and the second disc could've been the new album. Call the whole thing "Herstory: Here For It all" and have the album cover a statue of her, like a play on MJ's picture. Then people who would've bought it for the greatest hits would hear all the new songs. At least it would've sold double the amount in the first week and more in the long term.

As the biggest Daydream-era stan, it is shameful that Mariah gave a half-hearted "happy anniversary Daydream" repost and that's it for the landmark album. Music Box, Merry Christmas, Butterfly, Ones, Rainbow, and Mimi all got deluxe/special releases. Hell, even MIAM, Memoirs, and E=MC2 got Amazon special releases.
It's obvious she hates the Emotions album so I'm never surprised when it is paid dust. But Madame Daydream? She is quick to remind people of the hits from the album, she is quick to praise UTS, she is quick to accept the praise for the groundbreaking Fantasy remix, she is quick to tell you she directed 2 videos this era.
I've long suspected, and she said it once, that Daydream is bittersweet for her but to ignore it like this is disrespectful to the fans.

After Rainbow, and the D, F, H, H, first singles maybe 2001 was the moment she should've changed it up and not been so predictable with a lesser version of a first up-tempo single (sure if the original Firecracker was released that would've been better). But maybe the first single should've been her first single ballad since Vision of Love. New label, a reset. In hindsight I would've picked Lead The Way. It's Mariah's favorite song on the album and it's arguably the best song on the album. It would've won over the general public too, and that would've had a positive effect on the movie. Second single could've been, Loverboy. Then If We, followed by Last Night A DJ Saved My Life. Glitter was the original wrong single choices album.

The key word/phrase is "majority of her success". So not all of her success is contained in the 90s. The list isn't for "who peaked in the 21st century". Mariah wasn't irrelevant in the 21st century. She had a second song of the decade, she had multiple #1s, she broke multiple records including becoming the the artist with the most #1's, she is probably the only artist who ended and started multiple years at the #1 position, 7 top 5 albums , 11 top 20 singles, multiple accolades and other stuff I can remember at this point of time. Also AIW single handedly is responsible for how now more and more artists make Christmas albums early on into their careers. And what do you mean she's not a pop star? Of course she is. Pop isn't only bubblegum pop, it's any artist/music that has been popular at a certain point of time, Billboard named her the greatest popstar of 1991. Anyways all of this to say I'm not saying she should top the list, could have been one of the honourable mentions.
