"Baby Bling" post on MariahsWorld website (70,201)
by Martyn from England, UK
| |
|
|
What is this distasteful post all about? Why are Mariah and her team so obsessed with flaunting her wealth when so many people in the world are struggling to get by? How much has Mariah been paid for this post? Is it really worth it? Why is she continuing to alienate herself with this bizarre behaviour? A $1,400 silver spoon. An actual silver spoon. Who would buy a silver spoon for their child? Horrendous. I just don't understand what's going on in her head anymore.

Article: Mariah serves too much cleavage in R-rated music video (70,195)

How bizarre that she'd wear such a sexually provocative outfit whilst cuddling her children. I have no problem with flesh being on display, but there's a time and a place.

Mariah's response to Demi (70,082)
by Martyn from England, UK

I usually find Mariah's shade a little petty, especially when she goes on WWHL, but I have to say on this occasion I think her response to Demi was justified and well delivered.

I agree, and given how long Cindi was with her, it doesn't look like Mariah is fickle when it comes to cutting staff. She's like herpes. We don't particularly want her, but we'll have to learn to live with her.

Surprised by Mariah's World (69,124)
by Martyn from England, UK
| |
|
|
I was pleasantly surprised by Mariah's World. British reality TV is quite different to American (much slower paced, longer scenes, not as much backing music etc.) so when I took that into account and got used to how chaotic it seemed at first, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Mariah came across quite funny and there were only a few toe-curling moments (i.e. the "assistant" casually slipping in that she just got a job with Mariah Carey as if it would be a shock to her boyfriend whilst the entire thing was being filmed by a camera crew - horrendously staged). One thing that did get on my nerves was Stella trying to steal the show and constantly licking Mariah's arse, but other than that, I'm actually quite looking forward to the next episode.

Where did she go? (68,912)
by Martyn from England, UK
| |
|
|
Just looking at this picture of Mariah and wondering where she went? I wonder what she'd think if she could've seen 16 years into the future? Inviting the papps to photograph staged kissing shots to coincide perfectly with the launch of a trashy, scripted reality show? I'm weeping. It's all so tragic and sad.

Oh gosh, this whole Molly thing sounds so contrived and awful. This show is going to be a car crash. Strangely, I can't wait.

Beautiful AIWFCIY cover (68,722)
by Martyn from England, UK
| |
|

I'm not usually into cover versions of All I Want For Christmas because I think Mariah's version is so untouchable and flawless, but a friend showed me this version today and I absolutely love it. The lady who sings it is called Helen Fischer and I believe she's a German popstar. I don't really know anything else about her, but I thought I'd share.

Yeah I remember this - I think it was a British charity single which is probably why you haven't heard it. All I remember is that she wasn't in the music video, and they put Cheryl Cole on when it was her line. If you haven't heard of Cheryl Cole (likely) she's a horrendous, racist British pop singer who makes Katy Perry seem like the world's most talented live vocalist in comparison. I remember being really angry that people may think Mariah's vocals were coming from Cheryl haha.

With the greatest of respect, Sheila, if the "masterplan" you speak of is to gain Instagram followers by leaking fake stories to TMZ, I'd rather she remained unpopular.

Mariah's popularity will never recover (68,577)
by Martyn from England, UK
| |
|
|
I know a lot of fans say "never count Mariah out, she had a comeback in 2005 when her career had previously been in the toilet", but if we think about it properly, that wasn't too long after her previous few top 10 hits. "Touch My Body" aside, it's now been 10 years since her chart positions went into dramatic decline, and since then we've had a personality transplant, an aesthetic that has become bizarre and often embarrassing and a string of music that's completely out of touch. Don't get me wrong, I think MIAM was her most solid album (for the fans, at least) since the turn of the millennium, but I also think it's time to accept she'll never achieve chart success again. It's a shame because R&B is back on the rise, but instead of working with fresh producers, it looks like Mariah is back in the studio with Dupri. I doubt we'll get a new album for at least another few years, and when we do, it'll be another case of lacklustre promotion and early abandonment. Tie that in with bizarre interviews, shoddy live performances and publicity stunts like the recent Bryan Tanaka mess and what do we have? Career oblivion. I long for the Mariah who gave insightful interviews about her music, was confident in herself as a performer and connected properly with the public, but she's dead and gone. The only reason I'm still following her career is for the music, and I've learned to stop caring about chart positions. I just hope her next album is as strong as her last, because if it's not, I may jump ship along with the other 80% of her fanbase that seem to have done the same lately.

I agree. It's such an incredible album, and I've seen loads of people say that "Reckless" sounds like a Mariah song which I 100% agree with. Would love that type of sound for Mariah's next album when it finally materialises in 2029.

Spotify will kill Mariah's record eventually (68,402)
by Martyn from England, UK
| |
|
|
Unfortunately, Spotify has ruined the charts. I agree that streaming should be included in chart positioning because it's how many people consume music nowadays, but what worries me slightly is Spotify's playlists. Their "what's hot/top 50/popular" playlists are the go-to for many people who want to listen to music, so essentially Spotify have a huge amount of control over what's in the charts. In the UK, Drake's One Dance was number one for about 15 weeks. I read an article about how the majority of that reign was down to plays on Spotify's playlist, and had people not been doing this it would've been dethroned after several weeks. Spotify has slowed down movement in the charts a lot, with many songs remaining in the top 40 (or Billboard Hot 100) for a lot longer than they used to and with very little movement. It's unfortunate, because when Mariah's record eventually does get beaten, it will feel like less of an achievement to me. Hitting shuffle on a playlist of songs isn't the same as purposely going and seeking out a song because you like it.

Kelly Clarkson joining the lineup would be incredible, I'd love to see her and Mariah duet together and I've always thought that "Underneath The Tree" is a modern day AIWFCIY. It's a criminally underrated song.

Alicia Keys (68,179)
by Martyn from England, UK
| |
|
|
Has anybody listened to Alicia Keys' new album? I'd gone off her a bit since her last album but it's honestly one of the best of her career. So stripped back and raw, and she's really accepted the limitations of her changing voice. If ever Mariah needed a blueprint, this is it. I'd love it if Alicia and Mariah did a song together, the talent level would be through the roof.

I think you're reaching a bit there. I'm sure we'd all love to think that Mariah/Stella/Morgan visit this site, but despite the fact it is the best Mariah site out there, I'm pretty sure they have better things to do than trawl fan-sites. If anything has become clear as day over the past few years, it's that Mariah and co don't really care what the fans think, just what will generate the most money. As for Morgan, again, I think he's only bothered in investing in Mariah when he gets ££ from it (i.e. exclusive interviews with trash tabloids).
