What a singer, a legend, a diva. I'm so sad about it. We are so lucky to have had her.

The lawsuit lives (83,366)
by RibbonB from USA
| |

Who thought this was over? Not I. The article states she worked with Mimi over five years, which is way off. It was less than three years. Maybe Mimi wrote aggressive music, just so she can sign it over to Stelly Stel and tell her off in the same motion. All of this is like trump firing Omarosa, then acting surprised that's low life reality star would stab him in the back. But he hired her. The question remains why Mimi would hire a lowlife reality show producer to manage her career?

Here is the link where he refers to her aggressive new music. I don't know what he means and that word doesn't make me curious, it's more ominous. I hope it's not the hint of a train wreck that we may never hear.

Aggressive music (83,355)

JD describes Mimi's new music as aggressive, which doesn't really say much. She is also working with Diane Warren. We will see what 2019 brings.

Cute outfits and it looks like Roc got that dog he was trying to get. Have you see the adorable video of the chasing after Golden? It's hilarious, he's running so fast like a little penguin.

JD is her friend, Walter is not. She kind of likes to vibe with those she works with and she doesn't even trust Walter. That is a ship that has long ago sailed away.

Here's a great live performance and if course den babies from the Hollywood bowl performance. She looked nonchalant, but sounded in good form. I just love ABMB the pre-WBT and DFAU. I hope JD has included Manuel Seal in this latest round of recording, writing sessions. I'm nervous for her with this next project but she is bound to have some gems.

New Sade record (83,147)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
Pow, so excited to hear of new Sade music coming. According to one of her bandmates, they have several songs as will share them when they are happy with them. I smell a new CD in 2019. Nine years since the last, she's getting faster. I wasn't impressed with her song for a Wrinkle In Time movie, but I didn't see the movie, so maybe that's why. Her projects never disappoint, so grinning that a new one is near. We might see it before Mimi's new project.

Many do on tv tapings, but these ladies sing live in concert, as does Fantasia, Ledisi, Anita Baker. Their live concerts don't compare to Mariah's live pop-in singing to taped vocals. Mimi is still a fave, but not for live concerts. Plus Aretha and Dionne have consistently sang live, month after month, for over fifty years each and their fans support and know what to expect, two divas singing their favorite songs with no apologies.

Both Aretha and Dionne sing live. Their fans know what to expect even if their voices have changed. Aretha played and sang her signature song live just a few years ago at the Kennedy center honors reminding everyone why she was dubbed the queen. Dionne's voice has been a shadow of itself for years but she still presents what she has with style and grace and live. Both are master performers in their own rights, are the a teenage prodigy raised around other exceptional performers. Dionne, a classically trained musician, and muse to two of modern music's best songwriters is at home singing live to full orchestra s both in studio and on stage. She counts Sinatra as a musical mentor. Mimi has the sales far and above these ladies, but us really not in their league as a performer. Mariah will not rely solely on live musicians and background singers. Backing tracks are fine if that's what she prefers and it's what Jenny, Brittney and much of her musical generation rely upon so that's fine. Well it is what it is. Mariah also reinvents herself, which means she has to fold in her old and new fans, if not convince them. It doesn't always work, many are not convinced and divided fans bring about stasis, which requires more effort.

Girl's Trip (83,030)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
I was really surprised when Mariah signed to headline EssenceFest a couple of years ago. She did ok then, but the best surprise from it was her appearance in the movie Girls Trip I saw it in the theatre, but it's very cool to know that Mimi has a moment at the end of the movie and it seems to play weekly on HBO. I liked her in the Zohan movie, but the movie itself was so dumb I can't stand to look for her part in it, plus it's not really even a cult favorite film and it rarely airs. I would still love to see Mimi as a villain in an Austin Powers type of movie. The right vehicles can have long term positive effects.

She put her magic glasses on along with her miracle cap, just before making her reply. To go along with the romper room creative direction and budget block construction.

Let's hope it's not a race to see if he pops his patella again or she cracks her coccyx. The former is preferable though. But that white feather dress is cute AF girl.

Mimi from the block (82,994)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
Well thank God she didn't sprain, bruise or break a hip tumbling off that big block last night. At least she's not being hoisted and shuttled around on sofas this time around, but I hope they drop that move upon reflection. Mimi likes a little danger. The white dress is a stunner and keeper and I don't mind the black number.

Mariah and the kids looked great. I sort of liked the stage set. The set list sounds standard, but I do want to see this show. I gotta make that happen. She really just correct Roc about playing with plastic bags. No bueno.
