About Edward from USA:

Re: Lips? Lol (85,431) (85,433) by Edward from USA
I just think that Mariah has abused her voice so much that now it's just a little too late to expect her to quit drinking for two days and regain her voice. The woman is clearly struggling while singing, even when half of her singing is done by her backup singer and pre-recorderd tracks. Her voice could get in decent shape, but it's going to take time and work. At least most fans have gotten used to praising anything she does, lips or not do, I guess unless she sounds like a Coqui, which is a frog from Puerto Rico that can hit beautiful high notes, she would still be selling concerts and having an audience. For the moment, I'll take her word and enjoy the studio artist she's become. She definitely still sounds good on record.

Re: Caution standard edition tracklist (85,428) (85,430) by Edward from USA
I guess "Caution" is going to be similar to "E=MC2" not necessarily because of the similar content, but because the album is going to be full of potential singles or play as a greatest hits album. I think "Caution" has accomplished that with the tracks I've heard so far. I like GTFO, love "WY", and enjoy "TD". I think this album is going to be lacking big vocal moments though, but it's Ok, "With You" doesn't have them, and I still love it.

Re: Lips? Lol (85,407) (85,408) by Edward from USA
"Also it must be easy to take care of your voice when you don't have to write/produce a song." How writing and producing a song makes it harder for a person to take care of their voice? You take care of your voice by not doing things that would ruin it and by taking steps to preserve it, having professional help and a vocal coach. Celine's voice is definitely not the same, but she's doesn't struggle like Mariah. She lips, but she can still sing hell of a song. I don't see her hiding behind a posse of backup singers.

Re: Caution to feature a cover song? (85,394) (85,397) by Edward from USA
A rap into "Back That Memory Lene"? Minnie Riperton would turn on her grave if such thing should happen. Unless Eminem were featured on it, then maybe, just maybe.

Re: Caution to feature a cover song? (85,372) (85,378) by Edward from USA
"Loving You" would still be a piece of cake for Mariah to cover with her current voice, but "Back Down Memory Lane"? Well, Ms. Riperton effed that song up making it impossible for anybody else to sing it. I wouldn't want Mariah to even try it. That classic should be left untouched.

Re: A No No (85,365) (85,369) by Edward from USA
I was just going to say that, but it could actually be "Music Box" in terms of sales. Those are her most successful albums.

Re: Caution to feature a cover song? (85,351) (85,353) by Edward from USA
A good remake would be nice. I think it would be a good time to pay homage to Whitney with one her not so demanding songs. But if it's anything remotely close to her horrible rendition of "One More Try", I hope she doesn't even think about it. Those who actually heard "Oh She Really Tried" before releae and made her think she had done something great needed their ears cleaned. Sorry, but I waited so long for her to cover that song and then we got that. George Michael's rendition is so haunting, soulful and beautiful.

Lara, as Deedre stated, I was just joking. There wasn't anything remotely offensive with your post. The little devil in me likes to take things out of context for the laughs.

Filming Mariah from the back? Eric, that post shouldn't have been posted. It's offensive to Mariah.

Re: With You radio airplay and "The Voice" appearance (85,298) (85,327) by Edward from USA
Using Marilyn as the main theme for a video is cool. "I Still Believe" was definitely a great example of that, but latching onto Marilyn's personality to create this dumb bigger than life diva persona hasn't worked for Mariah, it's done more bad than good to her career, and it's not Marilyn's fault. Marilyn didn't try to be sexy and glamorous, she didn't have to push it, she just was. When Mariah released Honey, she was sexy without pushing it, she was stunningly sexy on "Breakdown", that was the beauty of it, but that had to do with her unassuming personality. Yes, she was filthy rich, but she was humble. I hope she puts her Marilyn costume right there with the piano she owns and keeps on being more relatable. So far, this era is going as planned. It's been a long long time since any of her songs make me sing along, GTFO and "With You" have accomplished that, not even #Beautiful. So far, I'm satisfied with the three songs I've heard, not looking for perfection here, just consistent good music. At this point I don't know what has causing Mariah's voice to deteriorate so rapidly, I hope she does something about it because, if she can, she's struggling with songs that are supposed to be easy for her to sing live.

Re: "Music Box" title track (85,317) (85,322) by Edward from USA
"Music Box" is hypnotizing. That buttery voice, that tone, how she makes it sound so effortless, is really out of this world. From 3:13 to 3:18, if you have a wig, a weave, a toupee, suspicious hair plugs or some kid of hairpiece and still make it through with them still on after listening, then you're not human. Wendy Williams's wig fried on her head because of that. That's why she's nice to Mariah these days.

Re: Caution album (85,316) (85,320) by Edward from USA
The album is going to leak a week before unless they go with a digital-only release first. They can't ship physical copies of an album the same day of the release because people wouldn't get it on time and that would defeat the purpose or per-ordering it. During mass production of these CD's, there's always somebody who ends up with a copy of the album. Even in the past it was that way, but those who got their hands on a physical copy couldn't spread it around like nowadays. I got access to "Sweetener" and many other albums two weeks before, so Caution won't be an exception. With Caution though, I'll wait for my physical copy and listen to it accordingly. Enough with the snippets, Mariah, three songs are already enough. Then a week before release reveal the name of the tracks and let us die little by little till you kill us on November 16.

Re: With You radio airplay and "The Voice" appearance (85,289) (85,294) by Edward from USA
At some point Mariah believed her own hype and that caused a huge disconnect between her and the general public. The general public gave her all those number ones, not only the fans. There was also a huge disconnect between this diva persona and the lyric content of her songs. Somewhere along the way she lost her humble demeanor, her somewhat innocent attitude most people loved. Current damage control has done wonders for her, but at this point most people don't care. I hope she keeps listening to those who have given her the best public perception she's had in years. I'm so glad she seems to have given up on that Marilyn Monroe impersonation that did her more bad than good.

Andrew, you're so negative. Remember that "Orange" is the new "Black".

With You > TD > GTFO (85,107) by Edward from USA
I'm impressed how everything is falling into place with this era. Everything is on point so far. I didn't love "The Distance" from first listen, but it has grown on me. It's definitely radio friendly, current and catchy, so let's see what happens. I still can't get "With You" out of my head. I haven't had that experience with a Mariah song in years. I'm just worried that with so many shots of Remy, I have become an alcoholic, I can't help it, Mariah is a bad influence. It's brilliant she's releasing a new album so closed to the holidays so it could actually run on the Christmas buzz she always generates, it's genius. I would take a great 10-track album over an album ruined by some rotten apples any day. Back to listen to "With You".

Many of us do. I suggest you get a good dose of GTFO.

Brandon was being very, very, but very sarcastic.

Re: The next single (84,955) (84,967) by Edward from USA
I agree. I guess they were tasting the waters with the first two tracks, but the next single should be a banger with a big name featured. We must be prepared for the possibility of a great abum even if it's not commercially successful, I could live with that. My only expectation now is great muic.

Heart Attack (84,916) by Edward from USA
I hope they keep the rest of the album hidden in a vault somewhere. If they start "leaking" snippets, I won't listen to them. Since Mariah might not release another album in another 5 years or so, I want to experience the album like back in the day. I'll pre-order on Amazon, and wait for the physical CD to arrive, get a bottle of wine, listen to it. I want to have that "Butterfly" CD unwrapping experience one last time since I haven't been as excited about a Mariah album in a long long time.

Caution (84,897) by Edward from USA
Well, the time has almost come. I love the title, very unpredictable, enticing and intriguing. I guess we're going to face lot of curse words and unapologetic moments in the songs. I'm actually excited. Just hoping Rock and Roe are not featured in any the songs. She can later produce their very own "Children of The Corn" album for them.

So sad (84,863) by Edward from USA
Andrew, I think you owe Anthony an apology, but I definitely know you won't give it to him. It's sad because you're pretty capable of defending yourself against anybody here without hitting below the belt. You've taken personal information Anthony had given you in confidence and used it against him on a public messageboard for the sole purpose of humiliating him, it was disgusting. Do you think that after that post anybody here would be open to tell you anything over the phone? Yes, I know you don't give two [censored] about it. I've always thought you were a good person, but I don't think good people do shit like that. A*holes do.

Re: New album cover (84,802) (84,807) by Edward from USA
Andrew, you must be tripolar. Exactly what I experienced. It was something not expected from Mariah visually, and the song, given the time, actually gets into one's head. Lol.

Re: AMAs (84,797) (84,800) by Edward from USA
I guess you should know by now I'm far from being an apologist for her. Of course the choreography was set up that way to make sense of her just standing there, and it did work. As much as I don't like her constant lipping and stiff performances, I don't suffer anymore expecting any different because she doesn't seem to care, and if she doesn't care, why should I? If there's someone getting an ulcer for that, it should be her not me. And yes, the performance was visually stunning, emphasis on visually. I won't regurgitate what's been said about her lipping on this particular performance, that would be stating the obvious.

Re: AMAs (84,781) (84,794) by Edward from USA
Andrew, if you noticed, I focused on the visual aspect of the performance, I didn't comment on the voice much because you and many others have already said what was obvious to her fans. I was tired of seeing Mariah perform with cheap productions, but this time it was something pleasing to the eye, and that's a fact.

So, you're trying to tell B that you haven't put on a towel over your head pretending you had long hair when you were 7 or 8? I can't believe it. You can't twerk with us.
