Re: The truth about Walter A (83,190) (83,195) by B from USA
Exactly. She thought they were friends and she found out the hard way that his only allegiance was to Tommy who lined him up to work with Celine after Mariah ended her relationship with him.

Re: The truth about Walter A (83,185) (83,194) by B from USA
Didn't Mariah ban Tommy from the studio during the recording of Butterfly and didn't Walter run and tell him she was going to alienate her fanbase by working with R&B and Hip-Hop artists and producers?

Re: The truth about Walter A (83,170) (83,179) by B from USA
JD was still relevant until 2009 while Walter's relevance ended with Celine's My Heart Will Go On.

Mariah (83,149) by B from USA
Mariah Carey is a perfectionist and when she lyps she usally lyps parts of her uptempos to preserve her voice for the ballads. Every singer in the industry lyps even Celine and Queen Bey. The only performance I've found disappointing during the first leg of The Butterfly Returns residency was I Still Believe. However, she gave some incredible live vocals before and after performing that song while using a backing track. Mariah's never been been at home on stage like Whitney and Celine who performed in nightclubs prior to getting theor deals. Mariah's a studio singer, always has been always will be. If you're expecting Mariah to sound like she did in 1990 you're clearly delusional or a wolf pretending to be a lamb.

Hope they don't write another WBT knockoff, lol.

JD (83,124) by B from USA
Mariah uploaded a photo of her and JD in the studio this morning. Hoping for the best. I really hope they write another WBT knockoff. Hopefully, she has other writers and producers lined up.

Re: Wise Girls 2 (83,098) (83,103) by B from USA
Glitter was never going to work. Mariah, the director, and the studio didn't share the same vision and the film suffered as a result. Mariah's performance is far from the worst part of the movie, a movie (and soundtrack) that was never going to work. The soundtrack is an example of Mariah being ahead of the times. However, she redeemed herself as an actress with Wise Girls, Tennessee, Precious, and The Butler.

Tresor Rare (83,102) by B from USA
The Tresor Rare store at the Fayette mall is basicall a shrine to Mariah. I have photos but I don't know how to upload them on here.

The Butterfly Returns (83,101) by B from USA
Mariah looks amazing and relaxed in the recent photos she uploaded to her social media accounts. She looks better than she has in years, she looks like she did at the beginning of the E=MC2 era.

Emotionless (83,097) by B from USA
Mariah should be considered the featured guest on this song/single. Her vocals are so prominent and front and center that she deserves a guest credit. She sings more on Emotionless that Rhianna did on Live Your Life and Love The Way You Lie.

Both also lyp and use playback. Every singer does it, not just Mariah.

Re: Mariah's voice (83,048) (83,049) by B from USA
When well rested and rehearsed she's still capable of delivering 1997-2005 vocals. With each performance of Can't Let Go her voice becomes clearer. One lypsyncing snafu isn't going to end Mariah Carey's career or her legacy. I think her voice being unpredictable makes her more relatable. Besides, her voice isn't as shot as Whitney's was.

Re: The voice? (83,020) (83,037) by B from USA
I believe they would. Her voice is still magnificent. Yes, her voice has been damaged over the years but she's still capable of greatness. With each performance her confidence builds and her vocals improve.

Re: The endless gigging / The Butterfly Returns (83,031) (83,036) by B from USA
Mariah is doing the residences and tours to reconnect with her fans. When Glitter and Charmbracelet sold poorly she went on tour to re-engage her fanbase and to prove she's still capable of singing after critics and fans alike questioned her abilities. Mariah lypsyncing Fantasy isn't going to ruin her reputation. It actually helps her with the teens that look upnto her because of her antics and shade. Besides she sang Can't Let Go 100% live that and slayed it, her whistle at the end was impeccable. My brother said "wow she's whistling in tune with the beat, she's a freak of nature".

Re: Lip sync fail (83,002) (83,017) by B from USA
I don't care if she lyps Fantasy or Honey as long as she sings My All and other ballads live. It makes sense to lyp the uptempos since doing preserves her voice for the ballads.

Re: The Butterfly Returns was festive (82,984) (82,991) by B from USA
She didn't perfom Butterfly? Maybe she will at a later date. I assumed she would perform all of the singles from the album since she titled the show The Butterfly Returns. Maybe she played it safe since Butterfly is a vocally demanding song.

Re: iHeartRadio festival (82,929) (82,932) by B from USA
My intent was to let those who cannot attend the concert know that it is aired by The CW in the fall. Usally, the first week of October. I also did not know that you had already posted about it.

Re: Mariah the trendsetter (82,870) (82,930) by B from USA
MIAM was recorded over the course of five years yet is Mariah's best album since 2005. The album has a cohesiveness that E=MC2 and MOAIA do not have. You would assume that Memoirs would be her most cohesive album since it was written and produced primarily by Mariah, Tricky, and The Dream but it doesn't. Instead of being a cohesive solid body of work it's a repeative and uninspired collection of 2008-2009 R&B. It's Mariah's most dated album. Obsessed, H.A.T.E.U., and JD's remix are the only essential recordings from that era although I do love Candy Bling. I wish she had included the criminally underrated Almost Home on MIAM instead of The Art of Letting Go and her forgettable collaborations with R. Kelly and MJB. I don't care if Mariah releases her new album this year or next year I just hope it's an amazing body of work that sounds nothing like MIAM or any of her releases from the aughts. I want a classic Carey album inspired by her work in the 90's like Always Be My Baby, Slipping Away, Melt Away, and Underneath The Stars.

Mariah is performing at the iHeartRadio festival which airs in the fall on The CW. [Webmaster: This is old news, I already mentioned this on my website three weeks ago.]

Re: New album (82,908) (82,924) by B from USA
Mariah had financial problems in 2001? She was paid a $21 million advance in 2001 for Glitter and bought out of her contract for $28 million in 2002.

Re: Me. I Am Mariah (interview/special) (82,884) (82,901) by B from USA
Mariah was over MIAM after she fell filming the video for the #Beautiful remix. She's sad in the Lauer interview because her marriage was imploding. Only two offical singles were released from MIAM, #Beautiful and You're Mine (Eternal) and I honestly believe IDJ was responsible for You're Mine being chosen as the second (as well as Bye, Bye) because they wanted to replicate the success of It's Like That/We Belong Together. Mariah obviously owns the masters to the songs she recorded during her time at IDJ since she was able to include WBT, DFAU, and TMB on #1 to Infinity. It makes sense since when she signed her deal with IDJ her albums were supposed to be released through her MonarC record label.

The 50 biggest singles artists in the digital era (82,879) by B from USA

Re: Greatest Mariah performance ever (?) (82,847) (82,875) by B from USA
Mariah's version of The Star Spangled Banner was elegant and hopeful, somber yet uplifting. She did an excellent job. She needs that determination she used to have.
