About Edouard from France: Favourite song ever : Always Be My Baby......and Butterfly.....and..

You're mine (82,276) by Edouard from France
Hey guys I know some of you don't like the song. I actually do. I believe it's fresh and subtle. I just wonder it's doesn't work better as a duet actually. Had the remix been the real version maybe it would've fared better. It would have been less of a ripoff of WBT. Whatchuthink?

Another version of You're Mine (Eternal)? (82,275) by Edouard from France
Hey guys, I've found this remix on YouTube and it seems there's another line in this version that does not appear on the original mix. I hear: "Tell me why is love like supersize" around the first minute mark. Can anybody explain ?

Was watching the Fantasy video and... (82,274) by Edouard from France
The fact that the Fantasy Remix was and still is groundbreaking is a given. But the original pop/RnB version is just as much of a bop and a formula that many, many, many others have followed since the release. when you hear, pretty much any [...] uptempo you can hear Fantasy all over it. The beat, the looks, the adlibs, the vocal scales. I must say I don't like [...], I mean musically it's just so bland. There's an authenticity that Mariah's image and sound has, especially back then, than noone can compare. When Mariah appears on video she's clearly in touch with her inner child, having fun whit her sensuality and spirituality. Whereas the likes of [...], well the likes of Mariah really (although we all know there's only one Mariah), all play the babygirl card. They're posing, pretending to be an image. I really do believe that with Mariah, what you see is what you get.

Agreed. Mariah is a part of our lives. She has been such a powerful influence ever since I can remember. Always be my baby.

Re: This is such a hit (82,025) (82,028) by Edouard from France
You're more than welcome. I absolutely don't sound dated. I don't know who made this but this is so "Eye of the Tiger" to me, Mariah is a genius.

This is such a hit (82,022) by Edouard from France
Listen to this. I knew the mashup for the Junior Vasquez remix of Heartrbreaker, but this is so good, an ode to the mid 80's. I love it.

Let's celebrate the courage of a woman (81,901) by Edouard from France
I feel so bad for Mariah. Remember some of the performances last summer when she clearly had no energy. Yet she was on stage, all the energy she had left then put into her vocals. Now I get it, she was preserving the very little energy she had and that's why she was not dancing and jumping around, barely moving. She's a brave woman and if we take a moment to think about it we all have people around us to offert us some type of support. We may have parents and family, friends, spirituality, and then we have Mariah and her music. We've had them for so long. Let's be grateful and appreciative of what this beautiful has done for us. My life wouldn't be the same without Mariah. It's as simple as that. I love you Mariah.

Memoirs / album (81,830) by Edouard from France
In terms of promotion I believe it'd be a good move to publish a book and release an album at the same time. I don't know if that's ever been done but it would be cool. it would also emphasize on Mariah, the writer, singer-songwriter. Whatchuguysthink ?

I believe (81,686) by Edouard from France
Andrew needs help. And I say that with empathy. To be that negative, over everything. I can't believe it. Yes life is hard, nothing is given, and we have to fight for who we are most of the time. But to be that negative, and to go as far as twisting the words of people who refer to MLK. I don't read Andrew's post anymore. I just read the title of his post and that was enough for me to realize that the man must be going through a rough time and has been for quite a wile. I can't help. But someone needs a little therapy.

All I Want For Christmas Is You video (80,109) by Edouard from France
I've realized I never paid that much attention to the video until this year and I must say I'm surprised. Mariah was already herself in this video. You can tell how playfull and sexy she feels even back then. She seems confident and very much rooted into who she is. When you think about it the album gave her the opportunity to explore more of her musical roots as well. It's funny how the first Christmas album allowed her to explore more of an RnB direction. I believe a lot of the freedom she claimed and conquered later in her career and personnal life was inspired by the making of this album which is deeply connected to spirituality and faith (and I'm not only refering to the religion aspect of things). I also love, love, love how she says bye bye to Tommy Mottola aka fake Santa at the end.

Mariah in Paris (79,842) by Edouard from France
It was a great concert. I was surprised at how diverse was the people attending. Vocally the show was amazing, probably her best after the Charmbracelet tour (Paris venue) and the Angels Advocate tour (Montréal venue). I enjoyed the fact that the show was about the voice. In the arena you could tell she took her time with the songs, and let her voice echo in each and every angle of the arena. All those piano intros are very suited for such big venues because it allows her voice to soar in a way a smaller venue a la Beacon doesn't. The sound quality was really good. We all know where are the lipped parts (and they are not that many honestly) and it's not because she can't do those notes, it's just to help her a little bit, which is no biggie. It's understandable. Who sings like Mariah 27 years into her career? Efing nobody. She seemed happy to be there, happy to be surrounded by her fans and friends. I believe this tour is good for her spirit. I'm happy for her. I also loved the troupe aspect of the show and how they all took a bow at the end. It was a Mariah show but not everything rested on her shoulders allowing her to feel comfortable and do her sing vocally. I really was great guys.

Hi Nonna. Welcome. It's good to hear a new voice here. Thank you for your common sense. We need it.

Men can be victims too (79,360) by Edouard from France
Men can be victims of sexual harrasment, sexual abuse and violence. In the hands of both other men and females. And it happens way more that what people want to believe. I've experienced it. It's important to acknowledge this fact in the global conversation that is currently going on in Hollywood and elsewhere. That being said, this story about MC is ridiculous. Clearly feeding off of the hollywood scandal. Perpetrators have a distinct way of exerting their power over their victims and Mariah is simply incapable of being that person. If anything I believe she's on the other side of things. If you know what I mean. I believe those who have experienced such trauma (and I know we are many) feel the same way about MC.

Re: Disgusted (79,350) (79,359) by Edouard from France
Exactly. I mean when would she have time to do that? And she's just back to her "regular" curves. It ain't like she's scary skinny or anything. She looks good, like herself. Plus, she was on stage and singers tend to take cortisone which bloats you. Real singers, anyway.

I don't (79,358) by Edouard from France
I actually love the song. Had it been on an album it sure would've been one of my fav tracks on it. All the drama surrounding the song has to be shoved to the side to fully enjoy the song. I believe it's a great track and a good take/hommage to Donell Jones' "Where I wanna be song".

Merry Christmas III You (79,321) by Edouard from France
In a way Mariah has given us 3 Christmas albums. Let's try to name all the Christmas songs she has recorded that do not appear on the 2 albums she has released:
- Joy to the world (remix)
- AIWFCIY (So, So, Def remix)
- Oh Holly Night (2000 version) Okay it does appear on an album but it was first a non-album track.
- AIWFCIY (remix with Justin Bieber)
- AIWFCIY / Oh Santa mashup
- Santa Claus is coming to town (remix)
- When Christmas Comes with John Legend
- The Star
- Lil' Snowman
And...
-Where Are You Christmas, which to me is a Mariah song. And you can tell Faith Hill is singing to a Mariah demo. The way she sings is very Mariah-esque. Love it.

Re: Creative process (79,216) (79,225) by Edouard from France
Hi, your post is not uninteresting. It's called living life. She's had the opportunity to have fun, do stuff, even make mistakes. That can only inspire her. I believe her old team wasn't bringing anything new to the table, treating her like she was "a done deal". That can be very uninspiring. Your last remark wasn't necessary though. We all we be judged for the choices we are making today, if not by fans and the media, by our own kids. Mariah is doing the best she can whith what she's got. Still to this day. And she's still there. We are the lucky ones. Never forget that.

I fell in love with Mariah's lives (78,795) by Edouard from France
When I first heard the Divas Live version of Make it Happen. They played it over Christmas time 1998 in France and there was no internet at the time. It was the first time I saw Mariah move basically (other than in the videos). I fell in love instantly. It's funny because Mariah's voice has been so criticized for years but when I think about it I've always loved the fact that her live versions are somewhat different than the studio version. I remember when I first heard the Divas Live rendition of MIH I was somewhat confused because it sounded so much different than on Emotions. Yet I thought it was genius. The same happened to me with the Hero rendition she gave right after 9/11. Her voice was tired, but so passionate and I fell in love with a song that I never used to listen to (the album version is too schmaltzy for me).

Re: Gospel album (78,711) (78,719) by Edouard from France
Totally agree with you. Mariah has had at least 1 jazz/soul influenced track per album (well, almost):
- Vanishing
- The wind
- Underneath the stars
- Fourth of July / Outside
- Subtle invitation / There goes my heart
- I wish you knew
- It's a wrap
- Cry / Camouflage
Plus all the live jazz songs she has sung.

Butterfly bonus tracks (78,614) by Edouard from France
As much as I always love discovering bonus tracks and songs that did not make an album, I believe Butterfly has to stay what it is and shouldn't be subjected to any kind of rework, deluxe edition and whatnot. It is iconic just the way it is. Demos would be interesting but no new track. Do you feel me?

Butterfly and baggy pants (78,589) by Edouard from France
I love this picture. I always wondered what Mariah was wearing on the Butterfly album cover. Was it a skirt, was it a short? I always thought it was some kind of tight pants like the ones she wore during the #1's era. The answer is: Mariah wore baggy pants. It would have added even more Hip Hop connotations to the album and I understand why they probably cut the picture the way they did. Pure speculation: Mariah probably found the solution for her subsequent project (Rainbow): she only wore underwear. Perfect.

Butterfly saved my life (78,588) by Edouard from France
It really did. I was 13, going through a lot of turmoil and the album really helped me shape my own thoughts about the challenges I had to face at the time. To this day I turn to it to give me release my emotions, give me confidence and bring me inner peace. It is moody. But it is not that depressing, nor is it particularly uplifting. it is all about the truth and how we need to face it sometimes. Truth about ourselves, truth about our environment, truth about the others and the world in general. Truth sets you free, right? And I believe that's how the album truly explores the idea of metamorphosis and resilience. Thank you Mariah and happy anniversary Butterfly.
