For me Charmbracelet is another outlier album. What do you think if 7 Aurelius and Dre and Vidal were the only producers on Charmbracelet? They could have really made Charmbracelet sell more copies and not been such a disjointed album in my opinion. I feel that Lyor Cohen gave MC some bad advice by telling her to choose Through the Rain as the first single. Charmbracelet was an great album, but it could have been better.

Caution is an outlier for sure. The production and the way Mariah wrote is something I've never seen her do before. That speaks to her finding a new way to express yourself like the lyrics are very conversational and like she's trying to send a message to someone or explain herself in ways that are very "real world". I'd love if she continued to do that on future albums. So I say yes to Dev Hynes. He made a really great contribution to the Sugababes "Lay Down in Swimming Pools" but it never got released because of sample clearing. It's from 2013 but you'd never know listening to it now.

Does anyone else like the Top of the Pops performance better than the MTV Unplugged version of it? I love that it is just Mariah and Trey accompanied by piano and the other singers. Fantastic standout amongst her early performances.

Yes, you can call me Bobby. One other faithful board member used to call me Bobby when he posted regularly during the TEOM/E=MC2 glory days, but then Save the Day was released and things change for him and many other board members.
I am just having fun about not posting that much. Maybe MC will surprise us all and my faithful friend will come back and post more. I look forward to your next post.

Bobby (can I call you that?), don't cut down your post on my account. That would be mournful. There's room for everybody. We all bring something to the table. I'm on my live and let live tip, so let's play.
I really do enjoy Muni Long's tone and you're right, she has adopted the way MC projects her head voice and that's probably why their vocals blend so well. I've caught her on a few interviews giving very much The MC Academy of Media Training. I hope the twinning continues in future projects.

Haha. I am in fact a Butterfly aficionado. But I think the only ringtone I ever bought of MC's was Whenever You Call. IKR? Other than that I use her rare releases because I get asked, Who was that? To which I could then gush over Mariah in all manner of ways without having to sound like I'm trying to.
Her live tributes to Patti, Stevie and Diva's Live always used to get the best responses. I don't know how other people can't distinguish her tone and inflections from hearing just one note but that's the world we live in.
Let's hope there are some live performances gearing up for this year that will become future classics. I think of With You at the 2018 AMAs is the closest thus far (ugh, the visuals) but, YMMV. I hate that the original upload that had more than 5 million views on YouTube got taken down with no explanation. *cries*

I have given Baby from Dreamville my special guest star status this year. I am cutting back on my posts in 2025. We need to have more fun this year because it is going to be different year on so many levels than 2024. By the way, Teddy Swims' new song, Black and White with Muni Long, is just another example of how MC's vocal stylings have had a huge influence on Muni Long. She sounds just like MC on the song.

I wish that Mariah get more reflected about the world around her and make good decisions, helping others and maybe write some meaningful music instead of so-called RnB she has made lately.

I want to manifest Mariah working more with Blood Orange (Devote Hynes). I loved "Giving Me Life" on "Caution", and I loved his work with Solange Knowles on the "True" EP. I think the production on his songs (I guess you'd call his style alt-R&B/chill wave) and a more detached vocal would work well with Mariah's current voice.

Steve, it was just an innocent post about Carrie Underwood's performance and how she came out on top. There was nothing political about the post. Can we move past 2024? There are great things to look forward to in 2025 and beyond like MC's long awaited new music, the MCA family is growing, the first new daytime soap opera in 25 years, Beyond The Gates debuts on CBS in one month, Finn is Luna father on B&B, and I am moving back to the Atl this summer.

Favorite cover song on the wrong album (108,038)
by Bobby A from United States

I was thinking yesterday about all of the things that I dislike about I Want To Know What Love Is. IWTKWLI was on the wrong album. It would have sounded better on Butterfly replacing Outside. Additionally, I have three reasons why IWTKWKLI should have been recorded 12 years earlier.
1. The three minutes and 27 seconds song length would have sounded perfectly on Butterfly. 2. MC's voice was in better shape on Butterfly than Memoirs. 3. Walter Afansieff's piano playing and production would have soared IWTKWLI to the top of the charts.

Robert-Anthony, I've always thought that an MC and Maxwell joint world tour would be amazing. Maxwell is a great performer and has hits. They would sell out arenas all over the world. Of course, MC would be last in the line up but they both love R&B, are from the same era and would be a great night of music.

I'm going to pull an RA and put it out there that I'm manifesting a March release or announcement in March from MC. Her new post kinda seems like she's ready to kick off a new era, she's also receiving an iHeartRadio Icon award in March. I had given up hope on a new album so I'm being cautiously optimistic. Also I hope whoever presents the award (and if there's a tribute) it's someone relevant.

1992 MC would have done exactly what Carrie did. However, 2013 MC would have asked the inaugural committee member, Senator Amy Klobuchar, to ask the sound technician to fix the problem before she could sing the song. I wish MC would get the same business mindset as Dolly Parton. Dolly will release an album by any means necessary without the mindset of having a hit album. I have seen Dolly release more Cracker Barrel and Wal-Mart exclusives than any other artist during the past 15 years. Finally, Dolly released eight independent label albums between 1991 and 2022.

RL, I love what the bonus tracks added to Music Box. Also, Carrie killed it anyway. This is just a question that I have to ask after watching the inauguration ceremony today. Does anyone else feel Donald Trump Jr. has a good chance of being People's magazine Sexist Man of Alive in 2025? I love to hear him speak at his father's events.

I've been listening to Music Box with all the B sides and bonus tracks. Growing up I thought that album was always too short, so it's nice to hear the full version of tracks she was considering for the album. It's also nice to include more upbeat tracks. Hopefully she'll release a new album soon. Anyone seen Carrie Underwood today? There was a malfunction with the music during the inauguration, so she sang a cappella. Much respect to her.

Get you some Merino wool socks, scarf, and undergear. You can wear it year round, really no matter the weather but especially when it's cold or windy. It's super light, breathes, easy to hand-wash and dries in a jiff. Great investment and a must have if you ever travel. Great and more affordable alternative to cashmere.
That's cool that you have a physical Mariahbook. I bet it's filled with some great stuff. You probably have your own method of deciding what goes in it too.
In this instance (My 2015 MC Wishlist) it was always a plan to come back and revisit it, so I pinned it to my profile to make it easier to access when the time came. If I hadn't thought to do that it still wouldn't have taken more than 5 minutes to scroll my own posts and get to it that way. Before I started posting again after my very long hiatus, I did just that to refresh my memory of what I'd already posted before. No point in wasting time rewriting things unnecessarily.
I've always had my ways of hunting down information. Mariah's always dropping crumbs since forever and I'm a curious person by nature so I sometimes go hunting just for fun. You kinda have to learn if you wanna get to the bottom of things. I take time with posts to link to sources so I can go back and find stuff even if a site goes belly up. Eric has been very generous with how he's kept all of our profiles intact and alive for a long time. I am one who especially appreciates that. Much luv.

Robert-Anthony, to view all the messages you've posted, simply navigate to your profile. At the bottom, you'll find your posts listed in chronological order. It may take some time, to scroll back to 2014 in your case, but possible. For those who post infrequently or haven't posted in years, the process is much quicker.
And remember, my dear Rob, as the wise old Chinese saying goes: "You must keep those pipes clean regularly, let them sit too long, and things might get a little... backed up and messy." Of course, finding a boyfriend who's a plumber would be the perfect hands-on solution.

My MC 2015 fantasy wish list (48,007) by Baby from Dreamville. Where There's No Beginning & There is No End (Saturday 22 November 2014; 3:07)
"We've been hearing about things that either never come to fruition, get sabotaged or don't get promoted for decades now. So just for fun I'm putting together a little list of all the things I wish are gonna be Mariah's big announcement for 2015 and or beyond.
1. A European residency in London to celebrate her 25th anniversary. 2. Carbonated Butterfly drink released internationally using Thirsty as promo. 3. An annual Christmas Broadway show written and produced by MC. 4. The Bond theme, performed, written and produced by MC and a cameo role on screen. I think Bianca needs to dust off her wig for this one. 5.The debut album re-released with the original demos, live performances and unreleased tracks or remixes."
Thinking outside the box is one my God given strengths. If I could deliver some of my ideas directly to Mariah, with no middle man (no offense, Eric) I wouldn't bother cryptic-posting anywhere because of the risk that someone might snatch it away from her.
I know not everybody who visits MCA thinks they're any good but it doesn't bother me at all because It's really only MC who has to see the vision and remix it to her liking. That's why I'm very deliberate with my wording and a lot of times have to edit what I really wanna say because this is such a well-known forum.
But Mariah's smart and a creative genius. She just needs encouragement to go after things, as we all do. A lot of the things I wanted and still want for her have been goals she's hinted at herself throughout the years or has had to let go of. My 2025¢.

You are not alone Randy. I just wonder if Epic was so disappointed with Caution that was reason for the instant grats promotional plan. Some Epic AR executive probably said to L.A. Reid her voice is not there anymore. Let's see what we can do to get the album in the top 10 on the Hot 100 and least one Urban AC radio. Does MC even want to record one last album at this point? She knows here voice can't paint and caress all of the pretty notes and runs any more. Maybe, I am wrong. Maybe [.Paak] is working his Silk Sonic magic with MC in the studio as I write this post.

I always try to remember what Special K said to me once when I was going hard on Mariah's deception, "What what you have her do?" Honestly, at this point everyone likes documentaries. So, maybe something about the voice with a doctor telling her on camera, "If you keep on pushing this, you'll never sing again." And that being the catalyst for a change in her arrangements and her new sound. Don't address the past 28 years, which by the way there are tons of dissertations and dissections on MCs voice that I am now discovering on YouTube and RIP TikTok. Some of which are hours long. This board used to make me feel alone for my rants about the voice and now I realize, I'm not crazy. Other people knew what was going on all along since that fateful day on Oprah in 1997 when she lip synced all but the end of the song Butterfly. That was unlike anything we had ever seen MC do. But here's the time for Terna and LibraLamb to say I am a broken record or ranting. I know. I know. Don't address you if I wasn't sent for. MC doesn't need any label exec or manager to get her a hit. She needs an undeniable song and concept. I like Cher's Believe a lot. MC needs a song that everyone will like across all formats and we will have another hit. For as much as I have been hard on MC over the last 28 years, I acknowledge time, I know two things. #1 People generally like her even if they are laughing at her at times. #2 You never count her out.

A little paranoid? Maybe (108,001)
by Bobby A from United States

Side Effects tells part of the story. I am sure there is so much more to her paranoia behavior that we may never know. Traumatic experiences have a long lasting effect on individuals that other people just can't begin to comprehend. Believe me I know what I am talking about. Portrait tells the other half of the story.

A little paranoid? Maybe (108,000)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah didn't really make it seem like someone deliberately stole her idea or pulled a "J.Lo" on her. She kind of shrugged it off, implying that her idea probably got leaked by people she had shared it with. Then, not long after, someone else came out with something similar. What I think happened was that Mariah took too long working on her album and, in the meantime, someone else probably came with a similar idea. The only major standout from that era was Beyoncé's Visual Album, which dropped as a surprise overnight. We'll never know for sure, but maybe wasn't the visual album part, but definitely the surprise-release angle.
Let's be real, Mariah's been kind of paranoid ever since the whole J.Lo stolen sample drama. What's interesting, though, is that after Mariah was vindicated, they talked about and squashed it. Mariah hinted that Jennifer was just a pawn in the whole situation, and honestly, I believe her. Back then, Jennifer probably didn't know much about sampling or how shady the industry could be. But when Mariah went on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and said she didn't know J.Lo, that totally caught me off guard and let me know Mariah never let it go.

Randy, your post brought three questions to my mind. First question, when was MC's last tour that she did not use any backing tracks? Was it the Daydream tour or The Butterfly tour? Second question, what would be the repercussions of MC sitting down with Oprah or Gayle King and telling the world about the deterioation of her voice? Third question, could the music industry and network television help MC's career in 2025 by recognizing her accommplishments and career defining moments with some type of television special celebrating MC? Final question, could Jimmy Iovine or Ryan Seacrest help restore MC's career to a Daydream or Butterfly level? Tommy, Benny, and L.A. helped propel MC's career to higher levels. She needs a strong innovative business man in 2025.

Let me hop on in here for a minute. MC doesn't need to make a last album or stop touring. She needs to refashion her songs to unplugged versions with current everyday vocal ability. And record in current everyday vocal ability. You know, like she did with the three new tracks on #1s in 1998.

MC would never do that. She is too much of a perfectionist. Kudos to Cher.

I just saw that Cher is releasing her last album. She says there comes a time when the voice of no longer fit for singing, my voice is not the same. And she's trying to record the album as quickly as possible. I thought this was very honest of Cher to admit almost similar to Jon Bon Jovi admitting his voice isn't the same. It takes a strong person to admit something that is your trademark and what [you're] known for. Good luck to Cher.

My observation (107,979)

Did anyone else noticed last year, we became like family to each other? We showed more love and support to each other than in 2023 and 2022. Maybe it is just me. I read so many celebratory and love posts last year from all of us. Let's keep it going in 2025 to support each other around the world, those in L.A. and of course MC. I listen to Coast To Coast with George Noory at night and it just has me thinking more about what is happening everywhere in our world.

California fires (107,975)

MC sold her Bel Air mansion with Nick in 2015. Her Calabasas chateau has been on and off the market since 2020. I don't know its current status in 2025. Homes in Calabasas have been affected by the Kenneth fire. It is just horrible what has happened to so many people in L.A. My heart goes out to everyone.

Does anyone know if MC has any properties in LA that were affected by the recent fires?

Lol. I am going to try to fix it, but I not sure why my Samsung Android phone uploads my photo that way. I didn't have this problem with my LG phone.
