About Andrew from the United Kingdom: Banned forever!

Re: QuestLove Supreme interview Pt. 1 (97,129) (97,134) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Having heard both parts I can tell you I found it rambling and nonsensical, with tangent upon tangent. It seems like the interviewers, and Mariah alike, start sentences they have no idea how to end. It's difficult to listen to. Also, there is nothing revealed that is not in the book, I don't think. It was basically a three hour commercial for the book. And not a very good one.

I think the interview was tragic on several levels.

As not much is going on... (97,124) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I saw a lyrics quiz on Treacle's channel and thought it might be quite fun considering not much is happening now. So I'm gonna post a lyrics quiz. And it is actually quite hard. Do it, don't do it, whatever.

Don't cheat, take time to think hard about the song. It's just for fun, it's not a contest. Name the song and the next line.

1. "Somehow the fire never dies"
2. "I've finally found a man that's true"
3. "But when my back is against the wall"
4. "Your conscience tells you to go"
5. "You count your steps like they're regrets"
6. "You come into my room"
7. "You're too persuasive I can't take it"
8. "Can't predict the coming storm"
9. "And you are every part of me"
10. "You'll come and save my life"
11. "I found a love I can call my own"
12. "A crescent moon began to shine"
13. "Bitterness isn't worth clinging to"
14. "Just like the stars and planets"
15. "But it don't strike me as funny"
16. "Well I'll never pin you down"
17. "I close my eyes so I can be with you"
18. "They have not gained victory over me"
19. "Let it all dissipate"
20. "He's got them pretty little eyes"

Re: MC 16 (97,118) (97,119) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I.e. when an album produces no hits, call it a "body of work" and use buzz words like "cohesion". Ugh. Mariah needs to sit at a piano and write some music with musicians who will suggest chord progressions as she sings. No samples, no shite rap, just write music. She used to do it once.

You may have to be a bit of a Trekkie to like this but I think it's brilliant.

“Bruno Mars head and shoulders above the rest.”

Given that he is about 5ft 4in tall, this made me laugh even more.

Re: Walter (97,099) (97,104) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
"Walter keeps insinuating that Mariah doesn't give him the credit he thinks deserves, which isn't true."

Can you post videos of Walter inferring this? Or videos of Mariah giving him credit for the song? Because so rarely hear her share credit for songwriting with anyone other than Y'all-know-what-dis-is.

"Mariah wrote the lyrics to AIWFCIY by herself and had already started working on the melody when she took it to him, and they finished the song together."

He doesn't deny she wrote the lyrics. Your implication that he merely "finished the song" suggests that he had very little to contribute to the melody and completely removes his programming all instruments single-handedly. The production of the song is absolutely fantastic and one of the reasons for its success. Can you post a video whereby someone says he merely "finished the song", ie. touched up what she had done?

"After being betrayed her, she owes him nothing."

I assume you mean he "betrayed" her. Howso? Because he stayed attached to a label he worked for and didn't jump ship with one of the artists when she fell out with it? How is this "betrayal"? He decided to keep his job and not jump because Mariah jumped. And it worked out rather well for him because he was involved heavily in My Heart Will Go On - one of the biggest songs of all time.

Honestly, I am not being disparaging, Brandon: please just post evidence.

And the first mention of The Smeezingtons this year you made me laugh

Re: Walter (97,095) (97,097) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I can see what you're trying to get at. However, it was a video suggested in my feed and I am interested to hear what Walter Afanasieff has to say about Mariah on any subject, as are other people here - of that I am certain. The point of the post was not the song but of his being positive and complimentary toward Mariah. So before you kiss your teeth and go in for what you perceive as an easy-win you ought to stop and think so as to not look a bit silly. Either way, I am glad to have left old Anthony's head to reside under your skin. Happy scratching.

Re: Walter (97,091) (97,094) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
"Are you serious? Walter being nice?"

It isn't a question of my sincerity, the video contains portions of him complimenting and admiring Mariah.

"He has repeatedly lied over the process of this collaboration, he is literally caught on video explaining the process between him and Mariah's songwriting process."

Post video links of him lying with evidence that what he is saying is not true, then, please.

"And the fact that he sold his share to anyone but Mariah makes me hate him even more."

What he does with his intellectual property is nothing to do with Mariah. She has no rights to it, legally, morally or otherwise.

"[H]ere is he once again trying to latch his irrelevant name next to Mariah."

He is an incredibly successful songwriter and producer. Eric has posted his accomplishments several times, but perhaps before the relatively short time you have been a Mariah fan/whackjob.

"His annual little press coverage is depressing, see ya next year mr 'Mariah still gives me the best check, let's exploit that'."

He is credited as having written 50 percent of the song, if I am not mistaken and he produced all of it, programming every single bit of instrumentation. I am sure Mariah's bank account and Mariah herself is pleased that their collaborations helped make her so successful - even when she also infers that she alone wrote the song, often completely omitting him from history.

You are rather angry and defensive of something with which you had nothing to do.

Re: Cosmetic surgery (97,077) (97,083) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
This is interesting. I don't really care if she has plastic surgery: it's her face and body. But I would say three things: she should not have too much as to look quite different from her natural safe, she should have the girls reduced because they are look pretty horrific that big, and she definitely needs to lose weight. Aside from that, she still looks pretty good for 50.

Auld Lang Syne (97,080) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Mariah didn't forget the words. Because she sang them. In fact, almost everybody knows the words. It's not difficult. She's telling you she can't remember the lyrics? Nope. It's likely just another fake skit on camera for attention. I despise untruths.

Cosmetic surgery (97,073) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I feel like Mariah has had even more cosmetic surgery to the face but I cannot quite put my finger on what it is. Can anyone with a good eye name it?

The word "hater" is just one of several words weaponised by people who aren't very clever in order to shut down debate.

I'm pretty sure he was being nice to you. You have a habit of taking everything the wrong way.

Re: Beyond Christmas (97,053) (97,056) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Christmas decorations are supposed to stay up until January 5, you Scrooge, you.

Mariah should be capitalising on Christmas to advance knowledge of or exposure to her back catalogue. She will disappear now into the ether.

Here's another idea for you: why just one Christmas special next year? Why not a series of three or four weekly episodes leading up to the final one on Christmas Eve with each episode including her non-Christmas songs interspersed among the Christmas ones?

Beyond Christmas (97,049) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Is anyone else completely sick of hearing about and reading about AIWFCIY? It's a bit much.

Also, if Apple wants Mariah to do another Christmas special next year she should request they put her concerts on Apple TV also. Or else go with Netflix.

MTV Unplugged
Music Box @ Proctor's Theatre
Daydream @ MSG
Butterfly @ Hawaii
Adventures of Mimi
Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour
Caution at Royal Albert Hall

Mariah really needs to push her back catalogue onto streaming services by using Christmas as leverage. She could license it to them for free to ensure permanent fixture. I'd have her release on concert a week into the platform to close out MC30.

Re: Ryan and Kelly show, thank you, next (97,028) (97,037) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
"There is a conscious effort by the music industry to make sure Mariah does not tie that Beatles record for 20 Hot 100 #1 singles".

Interesting. Please cite your evidence/sources. Should you not be able to, the reasonable few on here shall be forced to conclude it's just more lambsh*t.

"If she isn't having a non-Christmas hit song it is mainly as a result of this, or she isn't looking to."

So either Mariah is being prevented from having a hit (please cite your evidence, as above) or Mariah wants her song releases to fail. The latter being obvious nonsense, shall we also conclude that you are avoiding the obvious, in that it is pretty clear why Mariah doesn't chart well with her new music: it's not worthy of charting well.

"Secondly out of all her peers Madonna, Celine, Mary J. Blige, I would take where Mariah is any day in terms of where their careers are currently. What she lacks in touring, ticket sales..."

She makes up for with a song that's dusted off every December. Are you under the impression that Mariah doesn't want to be able to sell out global tours? Who is it you think you are fooling here?

"She isn't exerting herself going on tour after tour yet smiling to the bank yearly."

Ah, okay. You think Mariah does everything for money. Funny that, because isn't the common thread on this board that Mariah only does things for love, now?

This nonsense will never end.

Thank you for pointing out one of the hiccoughs. Although it was unnecessary to help me in my argument, I appreciate the support. Many people in the world hate America and Americans. If only Americans hated donuts.

Re: Ari on Mimi (97,004) (97,005) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I think Ariana is a pretty cool person. She behaved immensely well in the immediate aftermath and subsequent to fallout of the bombing of Manchester Arena. She has, with a few hiccoughs along the way, shown herself to be quite a decently behaved person. And her voice is extremely unique and beautiful. If Mariah's voice is honey, Ariana's is velvet. Unfortunately, I think most of her songs are boring. How "Positions" stayed atop many a chart for so long baffles me. But like most modern music I "huh" it and forget about it (modern music being mostly unmelodic pap it is easily forgettable). But Ariana is great. Her duet on Over And Over Again with Nathan Sykes is hauntingly beautifully/beautifully haunting.

It is, though, alarming, that O Santa! bombed. Featuring Ariana on a song should have sent it skyrocketing. Instead it fizzled and fell. Mariah's inability to get anything but AIWFCIY to chart well unfortunately means she is possibly in the denouement of her career. Not even Ariana - or Santa - can save it now.

Re: Win a video call with Mariah Carey through Geojam (96,989) (96,993) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Edward, I chose TTEOT for Martyn. I still won't forgive myself for the conversation I had with him three days before the atrocity. The slightest difference would, ironically, the butterfly effect have created. I don't care how stupid I know myself to be, here. Empty chairs at empty tables.

I chose Petals because Mariah had ruined Close My Eyes with the ruinous 202 version. But also in that (less facetiously) Petals reminds me of 2000 Mariah and the comforting wing that that brings.

And Out Here On My Own because it's just a stellar piece of work and I love Mariah for giving that vocal to me but also despair at her for denying me it for so long.

Perhaps I'd actually ask Mariah to sing Everything Fades Away because it is symbolic of every part of my life. The three songs I chose are by no means - possibly - my favourite. But they are the ones of which I'd ask Mariah to sing me a soft verse and chorus.

What fun, no less. What three songs, verse and chorus, soft voice, would everyone like Mariah to sing to them?

I am certainly very pleased you are on the mend, old friend. You should WhatsApp me one of these days. You, Randy, Jade and I, and, I dare say, some others, would have wicked fun with updates. I know they hold you I high regard - as do I - and I them. Email me at the email address already published here many times. Whatever way the cookie (I promise that I won't forget the milk and cookies) crumbles, happy everything.

Re: Win a video call with Mariah Carey through Geojam (96,982) (96,988) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
If you can ask Mariah anything why not ask her to sing your favourite song to you? Mariah singing to you alone is surely the dream of any fan or lamb. I'd ask her to sing Till The End of Time. And maybe Out Here On My Own. And maybe Petals. And life would be complete.
