In that context, it's "cue" not "queue". Nevermind. Onwards and upwards.

Ha, I disassociate myself with any potentially libellous comments made here and could not possibly provide further comment.

Ha, mate, how weird. I'm in a pub having lunch and Do They Know It's Christmas just came on and we were debating how crap it is. And, also, insulting. "Feed the world, let them know it's Christmastime"? I am sure the atheists, the Muslims, the Sikhs, the Jews etc don't care lol. Do we only feed the Christians? And only at Christmastime? It's such a terrible song, thou art correct.

I hate Last Christmas. But it seems to be a UK favourite. Here's an interesting story for you. George Michael stole vodka from me. And here's the evidence.

O Santa! O Mariah (96,904) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
26 years ago I remember exactly where I was when I listened to the UK Top 40 and heard Mariah was Number 2. I'd been a Mariah fan for about a year. My dad was driving the car. We had dropped my brother off to his girlfriend's house. It was dark. The lanes were country-winding and seemed longer in anticipation of the news. My dad had no clue what I was waiting for. He was talking but I wasn't listening. Mariah had to be Number 1. It had to be. I adored her. The song was brilliant. She deserved it.

Then it was announced at about 1845hrs on that fateful Sunday that Mariah was second to a miserable song about suicide. I cried. Silently I turned to the window and I cried to myself. It felt like Mariah was cheated. Like I was cheated. Like we were all cheated. I wanted everyone to understand how amazing she was - is. But they didn't get it.

Mariah had a stellar career in the Top 10 of the UK Top 40 for many years to come. She was at the beginning of her popularity and peak. Every single release: there's me recording the Top 40 to find out where she was, hoping, wishing, screaming into my pillow. Alas, I was always frustrated.

But the last laugh is the greatest laugh of all. I have been mocked, ridiculed, frustrated, pitied as a Mariah fan, and so on. Today means a hell of a lot to me. Because of this:

I was right. I was right that that song was genius. I was right that she was hold stand the test of time. I was right that she was a musical genius. I was right. And yeah congrats to Mariah as well. But mostly to me.

Mariah, I see you at the top of (arguably) the second most important chart in the world, in my own country, and I am so proud of you. I am proud to have spent a lifetime following you. I love you, forever.

Re: Mariah invents her own "relevance" (96,896) (96,897) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
"Plus, those who criticize her for only being relevant during the holidays are just looking for any reason to justify their dislike or hatred towards Mariah."

What on Earth are you in about? Have you lost your mind? She *is* only relevant at Christmas. People may buy her book (not *that* many) but they sure don't buy her music and she makes little impact in the charts anywhere in the world. The facts are facts are facts.

"I see these people all the time in comments sections and I'm like, 'sure, hun, dismiss that success because it is all too common and all legendary artists have their own global chart-topping Christmas hit'."

Nobody is dismissing Mariah's dominance and icon status during Christmas. She has attached herself to Christmas without precedent in the modern era.

"The memoir doing really well is the most obvious proof of her relevance, because she is selling her life story, not music."

Your interpretation of the word "relevant" is questionable.

"Despite every questionable or objectionable thing she has done in the past, after all these years, people still actually care about her - the person, or at least the celebrity."

She is an icon of our times. It is undisputed. Or should be undisputed. Her complete lack of relevance musically outside of December can be made evident in many ways.

So the GayHuds, the Ariana Grindrs and the Mariah Fairies will combine to make one powerful movement?

Re: Oh Santa (96,877) (96,878) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I'm confused. I'm listening to Oh Santa! on Spotify right now. Who cannot listen to it and why?

I must say this is the most exciting thing Mariah has done in a long time. I could have done without the hideous schoolyard chanting in this version because it ruins the smoothness and fluidity that the added vocals of Ariana and Jennifer bring. And I won't talk about Mariah's terrible look in the video. Or the hideous Microsoft PowerPoint 95 coverart.

I've listened to this song on Spotify about 50 times so far and I'm not bored of it at all. I love it. I hope she actually gets a Number 1 with this.

Oh Mariah (96,803) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
The special was fun and top quality. I think Mariah standing in front of Ariana and Jennifer was possibly a little rude. But they definitely bring something to the song. Will it chart high? Probably not. If it does it will be because the The Ariana Grindrs will get it there. Oh Santa has always been a good song. It's not AIWFCIY, but it's good.

Mariah's lip syncing has improved somewhat. I think in certain places she was actually singing in the studio as it looks realistic (and I believe in ya Saint Nick).

The jokes about the rider etc were not obnoxious and actually funny. But the absolutely best was Mariah on the sleigh singing Sleigh Bells. That is the campest funniest thing I have ever seen her do. I cried tears with laughter.

And Mariah was on television with a white person. That's five and counting.

Lol you. I appreciate your comments. Long time lurkers should become long time posters. We all love the same woman's voice. In different ways, albeit. You probably know exactly what I'd reply to your nonsense message. So I'll simply say welcome. Post more, buddy. We all love the woman.

No filter with Naomi (96,778) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Mariah started it with the usual nervous body clenching. Then she quickly settled into the chat and came across really well. I was actually interested. Mariah, you need to chill like this more often, girl. And Naomi Campbell is not just beautiful, she's "wow" beautiful.

So, Mariah is lip-syncing whilst performing at home, now. The performance was unnecessary. Why bother?

Ha Shezza, at least do the official list before you add a secret option number 6 (a la B and Bobby A).
(Wednesday 2 December 2020; 11:06)
AIWFCIY official videos (96,759) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
AIWFCIY
AIWFCIY (black & white)
AIWFCIY (So So Def)
AIWFCIY (Superfestive. ft. Justin Bieber)
AIWFCIY (Make My Wish Come True edition)

So if you had to rank the official videos, how would you rank them?

UK Number 1? (96,758) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I genuinely remember being in the car with my father when I was little, listening to hear the UK Christmas Number 1 and being dumbfounded when I heard Mariah was at Number 2. That this song may reach Number 1 here this year thrills me. I never ever ever ever ever ever do this. But I'm gonna go buy me about 20 copies.

No problem. Good luck with it. The Christmas special actually looks pretty decent. I am nervous for cringeworthy lip-syncing, though.
