About Bill from the UK: I love Mariah more than you do.

London Daydream Tour Attendee.

Re: A lengthy meditation on the album (86,306) (86,307) by Bill from the UK
Well that killed the mood.

Caution's conciseness (86,250) by Bill from the UK
Is conciseness a word? Anyway, I really am loving the 10 track approach. Sometimes I felt that MIAM, Memoirs, CB etc were a bit overwhelming and you have to set aside time to sit and listen to them properly. The beauty about this 10 track approach is that it really does give you the time to spend with the songs and get to know them. For instance my journey to work means I can listen to the album twice on the way in and twice on the way back home (or listen to One Mo Gen twenty times lol). Anyone else think the opening notes of 8th Grade sound a bit like the piano opening of We Belong Together? Wonder if that was deliberate. Maybe it’s just my weird ears.

Re: GMA (86,224) (86,235) by Bill from the UK
Also being positive, I really liked the way she ended the song. Wish she'd finished the album version like that rather than the fade out.

Giving Me Life (86,213) by Bill from the UK
The more time I spend with this album, the more this song creeps up in my ranking. One Mo Gen and The Distance are still at the top, but I agree with all of you that are praising this song. It has such a dark, moody atmosphere. It really puts me in mind of how I felt about The Roof when I first heard it. I'm also really enjoying Stay Long Love You. I had pretty low expectations for this release but I'm really happy that she's delivered what I feel is a concise, coherent album sung in her true voice without MIAM levels of manipulation. I love how the lower register has been brought to the forefront and the upper harmonies are in the background, as previously it was always the other way round. A solid effort and I really do wish her the best for this project and era, as the poor dear's been through a lot these past few years.

Re: Multiple copies (86,167) (86,171) by Bill from the UK
I do have to say the bright pink cassette is inspired. How I have missed that format. Pure nostalgia for me as all my Mariah purchases in the 90s were cassettes until Fantasy.

Re: Jimmy Fallon (86,169) (86,170) by Bill from the UK
She lipped 90% of the song, the difference between the pre record and her actual vocals is pretty obvious.

Re: Terna (86,157) (86,162) by Bill from the UK
So glad there's another person out there in this world who "gets" To The Floor and what a stroke of genius it truly is. Anyway, back to One Mo' Gen.

Re: Multiple copies (86,146) (86,149) by Bill from the UK
If Mariah gets to number one because Caution sold 5 copies more than the number two album, then I will change my stance on people buying multiple copies. I suppose it’s your hard earned money and you can do what you wish with it, but if you want to support Mariah, maybe donate the 30 dollars to the Fresh Air Fund, or one of the other organisations she champions. But who am I.

Re: Runway (86,109) (86,130) by Bill from the UK
Runway is a great song. As I don't care much for GTFO, I actually (gasp) replaced it with Runway on my iTunes. Runway at the end ruined the impact of Portrait, but it sounds great starting the album off. Woke up this morning with One Mo Gen running around in my head. Still flawed by that one. It sounds so retro, and has a fun "Heat" vibe to it. Just love it. I've been playing the album all day, haven't enjoyed one this much since E=MC2.

Re: Genius interview (86,051) (86,093) by Bill from the UK
Thanks so much for posting this. This is one of the best interviews she's ever given. I'd go as far as seeing as good as that "lost" Rainbow interview she gave that surfaced a year or so ago. This is probably because, for once, the right questions were asked and her audience were her fans. I really can't wait for MC's book to come out. Part of me doesn't care about all the drama in the background, I'm more hopeful she goes into meanings behind her lyrics, where she was at that point in her life, and her creative process rather than Tommy dressing her up in trousers and a turtle neck.

Caution reviews (86,048) by Bill from the UK
I love reading all your reviews and thoughts and favourites everyone, thanks for taking the time to write it up. I go back and listen to everyone’s favourites, great way to explore and familiarise yourself with the new material.

Re: One Mo' Gen (86,008) (86,016) by Bill from the UK
Haha. I stayed up to midnight for the album and was up until 1am playing One Mo Gen on repeat. If I didn't have to work today I wouldn't have gone to bed. I played the album again and One Mo Gen got repeated several times on my way into work. Really, really love this one and as much as I also loved The Distance, it got knocked out of pole position straight away.

One Mo' Gen (85,990) by Bill from the UK
This track is great. The best one on the album. Ear candy. Love at first listen, just like when I heard Make It Look Good for the first time. Overall, very happy with the album. It’s like an updated E=MC2. Nice to have a fun record again.

Re: Mariah meeting (85,944) (85,950) by Bill from the UK
Wow, that sounds amazing and what a surprise. I hope one of you asked when we're getting the demo tape and why wasn't Slipping Away on Daydream and why wasn't Migrate a single haha.

Re: "Glitter" (85,926) (85,929) by Bill from the UK
I gave it a spin the other day without knowing about this countdown thing. Nothing tops If We. What a great song, don't blame J.Lo for stealing it lol. And those runs on Lead the Way have got to be some of the best she ever put down on a record. Great album. Sorry, "soundtrack" lol.

It's what we love about her.

Caution top 4 (85,924) by Bill from the UK
1. With You
2. A No No
3. The Distance
4. GTFO
But, I really do enjoy the top three equally. GTFO was a bit of a "meh" for me because it is, in my opinion, lazy songwriting. That said, really looking forward to the album on Friday and seeing everyone's thoughts on it. Especially how many tracks Licia hates haha.

Re: All I want for my birthday is to see Mariah Carey (85,871) (85,893) by Bill from the UK
That's really good that you got your tickets and will be seeing her. I hope you have a great time, I'm sure you will. I also hope you get to hear her sing her new songs for the first time, should be a real treat.

Re: All I want for my birthday is to see Mariah Carey (85,865) (85,866) by Bill from the UK
Hi Matini, I also don't think there's anything wrong in wanting to meet Mariah. I'd love to meet her one of these days as well. Have you considered a meet and greet ticket for one of her concerts? I know they're expensive and I think all you get is a photo and a couple of minutes with her, but if you have the disposable income, that's a great way to meet her, however brief.

Um. It was strained and she did lip sync so... yeah.

Re: Rainbow cover (85,805) (85,808) by Bill from the UK
I love the album cover. Other than Merry Christmas, all her album covers are at the darker end of the spectrum so Rainbow really stands out. It seems fresh and vibrant like the songs on the album. Plus MC looks amazing. If you’ve got it, flaunt it. And boy did she.

Re: Poor Rainbow, record rankings (85,738) (85,748) by Bill from the UK
It's a shame it didn't get any votes, I think it's a great album. Except of course for Did I Do That. I do wish that Lauryn Hill collaboration had seen the light of day, and adding There For Me, which I believe was written during the time, to the record would have rounded it off a bit better. But who doesn't like Heartbreaker, CTTA, Bliss, Petals, Crybaby... great songs.

Re: Japan why (85,730) (85,731) by Bill from the UK
Japan usually get bonus tracks because it is actually cheaper to import the CD from another country. Therefore, to encourage local sales, most record companies add a bonus track, unique cover, or something extra to the Japanese release of an album.
