Stella's backlash (70,840) by Lee from UK
If Mariah gets rid of Stella, can you imagine the backlash. Stella would have a field day in the press. Stella would not be a very good enemy to have. I imagine she knows quite a lot of things about Mariah that Mariah would not like the world to know. They have seemed pretty close over the past year.

Re: Article: Jenny McCarthy says her sympathy for Mariah "stopped" (70,776) (70,782) by Lee from UK
You may have attended many conferences, my dear, but I have delivered at many conferences. "Mom and pop" and "corporation" spring to mind. I don't think you grasp the implications of Andrew Wakefield being found guilty of fraud and deception. Also, my dear troll, I think you will find that you brought up the ASD and vaccine issue on this board first. It seems there is no reasoning with someone who has been deceived into thinking a certain way. It's like the anti-vaxers are a brainwashed cult incapable of synthesising appropriate research for themselves.

Just no. Have you actually read any of the research on autism and vaccines for yourself? I am a school psychologist and the research I am conducting for my doctoral thesis is on autism. I have systematically reviewed a lot of the "evidence" for this claim and it is BS. The research supporting the claim that vaccines cause autism was basically faked. 10 of the 12 authors of the research paper have come out against its conclusions. The authors have since been found guilty of deliberate fraud. Many of the "facts" were falsified and the British Medical Journal even reported on how the findings were made up for financial gain. Jesus, pick up a book sometime. It's people like Jenny McCarthy who are putting other people's children at risk.

NYE fail (70,540) by Lee from UK
I am happy that this happened. Firstly because it will help the blind lambs to see that actually, yes, she does lip sync various parts of her performance such as the whistle notes in Emotions or the whole track in WBT. Secondly, world-wide embarrassment will give her the kick up the arse she needs to come back fighting. Do what Beyoncé did after her lip sync fail and show the haters what you have got by delivering an epic live performance. Mariah was pissed because she was caught out. It was only a matter of time. I get why Mariah didn't bother to sing during Emotions because that way she avoids an awful mic feed leak. These massive outdoor events always seem to go wrong for Mariah. I don't know why she bothers.

Re: Yeah positive fans (70,463) (70,487) by Lee from UK
I have been a fan since VoL. I have been a member of this message board since the early 2000s. I have been a staunch supporter of Mariah but also a "critical friend". I was a massive collector of her CD singles and 12" vinyls just so I could hear every new vocal arrangement and adlib on her songs. I had a digital collection of every live performance she ever gave on TV. I have never considered myself a "lamb" and never will. I do not buy into her "diva-ness", I do not buy into her merchandise, and I do not buy into her "scripted reality". For me, it has always been and will always continue to be about her voice. That's when I chime in on this message board more often than not; when Mariah gives us a "live" performance. I was the person who always found himself defending Mariah's reputation as an amazing vocalist to his friends and family post 1998 when they said she had lost it. The one who cringes every time a new person I meet says, "What happened to her voice?" or "She'll never sing as well as she did in the 90s." I have followed her every career move with increasing scepticism yet I will always go and see her perform when she's in my country. If the universe is good to me, I am hoping to see her next Christmas in New York. Still I would not like to be considered a lamb.

Here Comes Santa Claus video (70,193) by Lee from UK
Why is Mariah's face a different colour to her body in this video. I don't get it. Her boobs look sore.

Re: Mariah's popularity will never recover (68,582) (68,609) by Lee from UK
Marissa, with the greatest respect, are you completely mad? Are you actually saying that before TEOM, Mariah "hadn't truly solidified herself as a legend yet"? I hope this is a joke. I think I actually spat out some tea as I was reading this.

Article: Here are 5 things to know about "Mariah's World" (68,157) by Lee from UK
I think you'll find the Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour did not in fact began in England but actually started in Scotland. Just saying. Also I'm pretty sure the Music Box Tour and the Rainbow Tour came to Europe. This is not Mariah's second tour here. Who wrote this crap?

Article: Mariah Carey films a holiday Carpool Karaoke (67,414) by Lee from UK
As if we will even get to hear Mariah sing. I've watched a lot these carpool karaoke things and you never actually get to hear the singer over James' shouting anyway. He ruined it for Adele and Sia. Mariah has probably seen enough of these now that she knows she can just pretend to be singing and nobody would know the difference.

Infamous (66,946) by Lee from UK
I listened to it once. That was enough. I have no desire to hear it again. What has happened to me? Usually if I don't like a Mariah song (think "You're Mine", "Infinity", "The Art of Letting Go"), I will play it a couple more times and it becomes bearable enough to add to my playlist yet I will almost always skip it when it begins to play. As soon as I hear the strike of the match in "You're Mine" that song gets switched. With "Infamous", I'm not even going to bother putting it on a playlist.

If it's over (64,744) by Lee from UK
I have been re-discovering some of Mariah's best live vocal performances and this one from 1992 is my all-time favourite. This song just builds and builds until it reaches it's climax at 2:30. There is a plethora of pleasing, well-controlled vocal runs, not a note out of place and a satisfying ending. Where did this Mariah go? If someone wants to make a petition about bringing this Mariah back, I will sign it a million times.

I Don't Wanna Cry (63,558) by Lee from UK
I have just watched yesterday's performance of IDWC and I have to say, I am very very impressed. I hope Mariah plans on extending this residency until next year when I am more financially able to see her there.

Article: Gaga fans start petition to stop Madonna and Mariah (62,966) by Lee from UK
What a load of BS. Not every member of the gay community needs a [censored] foundation. I have been gay all my life and Lady Gaga has done sweet FA for me. Mariah may have made a lot of money from the gay community and benefited from the "pink pound" as we call here in England, but in return Mariah's music has helped many of us before Lady Gaga was even a thing. Joseph Sotelo can go [censored] himself.

I am not Cinderella (62,264) by Lee from UK
I am so happy that Mariah decided to re-record segments of her 1999 Billboard Artist of the Decade speech for the trailer to Mariah's World. That was definitely one of her greatest speech's ever.

Andrew from UK (61,299) by Lee from UK
I don't make a habit of this and I dislike it when others do it but I really have to give you some praise for your posts - especially the more recent ones. I love reading all of the opinions on this board and, as you are probably aware, there are several posters here who love to spout their opinions non stop in overly long posts. It's always more of the same and other posters spend a lot of time blowing smoke up their [censored]. "I love your posts", "please don't stop posting" etc etc. Well, Andrew, it is finally your turn. You and I are of the same opinion about a lot of topics when it comes to Mariah. When I come across your posts I find them refreshing. Back in 2001/2002 I took a lot of heat on this board for my opinions on Mariah's vocals etc and was often labelled a hater. Now 15 years later, I'm still a fan, I have seen her live 4 times during 2 different tours and I am still of the same opinions I was back then. Please continue to post with Chardonnay in hand. Until you get banned, you will always have a fan in me.

Martyn, did you happen to be wearing a Daydream tour t-shirt at the Manchester concert? Where you with a group of boys, one of them wearing the Charmbracelet tour t-shirt?

Article: Mariah Carey spills out of her plunging gold dress (60,652) by Lee from UK
I was at the Manchester show. There was no booing. If I couldn't hear it in the centre of the arena, I doubt Mariah would have heard it backstage.

Mariah live (60,584) by Lee from UK
I have just returned from seeing Mariah in Manchester. She was amazing. At times the music was a lot louder than she was but when Mariah was turned all the way up, she was flawless. Two days until I get to see her again in Birmingham. I am so excited.

What's wrong with today's pop stars? (59,758) by Lee from UK
I find this a bit rich coming from Mariah as she hasn't written a decent song in over 10 years. Additionally, she has tried and failed to emulate what the young stars are doing both musically (and in terms of her online presence) and this has done her no favours. I love Mariah's (older) music and I always will. I'm going to see her twice in 3 days when she tours the UK and I'm glad it's a bunch of her older stuff as her more modern music has been pretty pants. If I want modern pop diva, I'll listen to Beyoncé, Ariana or Adele. I'd rather Mariah to sing like Mariah.

Merriest Christmas (58,585) by Lee from UK
I am probably one of the quickest people to point out when Mariah has given a bad performance so I wanted to actually make sure I'm doing the same when Mariah is deserving of praise. "Mariah's Merriest Christmas" show was absolutely stunning. I can not wait to share this with my family this Christmas and not have to worry about bum notes. Mariah sounded fan-bloody-tastic. Her voice sounded clear and crisp. I know the show was pre recorded and they probably chose the best bits but it did seem completely seamless. Mariah made good melodic choices with a lot of the songs. I love it when Mariah changes parts of the songs to something different than I'm used to. She was also looking amazing. Here's hoping she keeps this up until March 2016 when she comes to the UK on tour.

Mariah live UK (58,467) by Lee from UK
So I have tickets see Mariah twice in 2 days. One in Manchester then 2 days later in Birmingham. I am very very excited. No one around me understands my joy so I thought I would express it here. Thanks for listening.

Article: The 9 merriest moments from Mariah's Christmas show (58,307) by Lee from UK
We must have been listening to two completely different performances here. They did some pretty neat sound engineering but to those of us who have listened to Mariah doing this for years, there was a lot cheating happening. It is clear to hear where they faded out Mariah's live vocals and faded in the pre-recoded vocals then faded them out again just in time to make us think that they were actually live.

Re: Infinity (56,272) (56,300) by Lee from UK
I'm a gay guy and I can't stand it. From the mispronunciation of the word "infinity" (which will never contain the letter "d") to the messy way the word is sang. As soon as the "oh ah" kicks in, I hit skip.

Triumphant - Infinity (56,236) by Lee from UK
I wouldn't class Triumphant in the same messy group as Infinity at all. I mean there are bad Mariah songs and then there are really bad Mariah songs. The Triumphant remixes are amazing tracks to work out and run to. It's a "go get 'em" song with great beats. Every time it comes on just as I'm about to give up and go home but it gives me the extra energy to keep going for that last 5 minutes. Just waiting for the high notes to kick in is amazing and when you feel like you have to jump off the treadmill and call it a day, the high notes are back and it's a real motivator.
