Bobby A, you are predicting that you won't stop making predictions. Since all of your predictions have ostensibly been incorrect, one can only assume that the prediction that you will not stop making predictions is, thus, also, incorrect, Thus you actually will stop making predictions. Hallelujah.

How funny, John: were I to have written that message it would apply to me completely. I used to be that way, say, ten years ago. I adamantly cut people off for perceived slights. But feelings of animosity and hurt mostly always fade away and you find yourself without those people you once cared for enough to have in your life - who themselves have probably changed and look back on their own behaviour as a great mistake. Time is often not a healer but a great divider. I am quick to try to heal or not react anymore. You can never go home again.
Mariah seems to only have friends who are on her payroll and her kids and nephew as her family. That's possibly not healthy but it is her life and I am here for her music and voice. I hope she is happy, anyway. I owe her much.
And she owes me three minutes of my life back for I Don't.

I have found it difficult to listen to Ariana knowing that Martyn died listening to her sing. I just avoid it. I find death too difficult a truth to understand and appreciate fully.
But there is a song I love called Over and Over Again by Nathan Sykes. It is quite beautiful and one of the most romantic songs ever. And I discovered he did a (albeit copy and paste) duet with Ariana on it.
Ariana has a beautiful voice. This cannot be denied. And she can sing. Very well. Very, very well. If she can keep reinventing herself - or rather, not reinventing herself but readjusting herself - as Mariah did, she will be around in 20 years time.

O Santa? O Mariah (96,668)
by Andrew from the United Kingdom
| |
|

Using Ariana to push O Santa! into the mainstream like AIWFCIY may seem like a clever move on paper, but I am not convinced it will work. If Mariah had written a new song for them it would have been better. Also, watching Mariah sing a duet with Ariana will have me peering over the back of the sofa sweating profusely. Can she pull it off? Who knows?

Xavier, I cannot really find a bit that isn't clear to me. What do you think you are hearing? It is a very "busy" song but I love that about it. It feels as if lots of people are walking around on a boulevard near the beach in shorts, smartly dressed, as the sun goes down, the atmosphere electric with possibilities. And Mariah is walking around them with her girlfriends humourously pointing out potential consequences. The video would have epic. The song is so much fun. One would have thought it would cheer some Americans up.
Also agree with John. HWGRA and All I Live For and Firecracker Loverboy are genius. Mariah made a few mistakes with choices during her career. Hiding these tracks surely ranks amongst the worst. As does not making YDKWTD the lead single from MIAM. Which is also a genius upbeat ball of fun.
Cheer up everyone. It's Christmas soon.

XavMan, I apologise. I was busy swatting flies.
"One Night: What is the recurring phrase the background sings all the way"
It's "Oh baby baby... don't".
I can tell you that without even playing it. I have listened to this song endlessly. I am gobsmacked it did not make Daydream. Was it too fun? It's like the response to Fantasy. It is genius.
As is Here We Go Round Again (I don't like the debut album much but this song is unbelievably good).
As is All I Live For. (Come on, this is infectious. How did this make the cut?)
As is Firecracker Loverboy. (This would have gone global No1. Who cares that woman used the sample?)
As is Out Here On My Own. (It is as much a Mariah Carey ballad now as is My All, but better because we are all feeling this one collectively.)
The Rarities is special. It has a unique place in my heart.

"Whatever, just shut up already."
I think you meant to reply to me. And, well, no.
"I don't come to a Mariah Carey blog to argue and pick fights with other people that I don't even know, unlike you, I do have better things to spend my time on."
Well, you kinda did.
"I am just saying what many people are thinking."
Many people think that the Earth is flat or that they are guided by spirit animals or that it's okay to put the milk in before the tea bag. Verstehen Sie? (You do speak German in the National Socialist North America, surely? Lol)
"You keep doing you over there and I'll do the same here. I bet if you weren't hiding behind your little keyboard and monitor you wouldn't say that crap in person because you know in the real world you get your ass kicked for that behavior."
Of what behaviour do you speak? Disagreeing with you? Objecting to arguments that are objectively ridiculous, irrational, unfounded and insulting to millions of our grandparents and great grandparents?
The threat of violence isn't impressive and I assure you I would not change, and have never changed, my opinion in the face of it. Much like our grandparents and great grandparents did not.
"Find a doctor already, mental health and anger issues are to be taken seriously."
Were I to try, I certainly would avoid yours for it is clearly not working.
"I'm not going to debate anything with you and indulge you, it's useless and a waste of time"
You would be wise not to debate me.
"[P]lease just get lost."
You're about seven messages in and look what you have shown yourself to be. So. Er. Nope.
I think that was civil enough in the face of incivility. Seriously, you people are frightening.

Yes, New William, yes. The ABMB should always have been the Underneath The Stars video.
This isn’t a music video. This is Mariah doing ten minutes vanity interspersed with really bad tour footage that does not remotely suit the song. I feel like this video was pieced together recently for the sake of completing something.

"Andrew, as a while male..."
You're a racist.
"...who lives in England"
An incorrect racist.
"...and not America, you should sit this one out."
You ostensibly didn't read anything I wrote. You just saw a reason to dismiss me because of the colour of my skin. I don't think you understand history at all. Visit Poland and go to Auschwitz-Birkenau, or visit France and see the poppy fields, or the endless rows of graves, or visit London and the tomb of the unknown soldier. And it is *I* who must sit this one out? To compare an American President to Hitler is a joke and you and silly little thumbs-up friends should take a good hard look in the mirror.
"You really don't know anything about the everyday problems that Americans face, such being murdered and terrorized just for the color of their skin."
Americans are murdered and terrorised every day because of the colour of their skin. Right. How hard it must be for you to live in the modern day Nazi Germany, you overly privileged cretinous fool. I have German friends who would smack their heads in disbelief at you.
"...while cisgender male."
Do you mean "white"? If you do you're a racist. "Cisgender"? How do you know this? You are assuming. What a bigot.
"You can not belittle people or their problem, just sit back, listen, and maybe you'll learn something about it."
Please enlighten me as to the comparisons between Europe under Hitler and the US under Trump.
It is frightening that people like you exist. Tit.

Topics get out of hand when idiots get involved. On this day, Armistice Day, to read that some silly little uneducated fool likened a President of the United States to Adolf Hitler is vulgar - it belittles what all those brave youngs lads died for in those insanely violent and tragic World Wars, bravely paying the ultimate sacrifice in their millions to wrestle the world from the grip of evil. I suppose one of the freedoms for which they paid the ultimate sacrifice was that silly little twats would be free spout as much nonsense as they want comparing life as an overly privileged American crying into their cornflakes about how victimised they are to the lives of people who were slaughtered and exterminated en masse.
They gave their tomorrow for our today. I wonder what would they have thought had they known they gave their tomorrow for pathetic idiots to make light of what they went through to give it.

Did you and Bobby A ever get a resolution to this, Edward? I wonder if anyone shall ever know what happened. If he just decided to depart on a whim then so be it. It is certainly not the same without his posts - I adore random-fandom-geekdom and he certainly hit the bestseller list. Just seems out of character to move on without warning, is all. I hope this to be the case, however, and that nothing awful befell him. Here's to wishing him a long and happy life.

"I have never in my life met someone so condescending in my life."
In my life, there's been no-one like him anywhere, anywhere where he is - if he asked, I'd be his.
"It's time you find some joy in your life Andrew."
Joy to the world, Andrew has come.
"Being in your 40s and always leaving pernicious comments in a forum dedicated to your 'fave' or an 'idol' and thinking you are right is just sad."
When I am in my 40's I will look out for that, babes.
"Music is subjective and your opinion is quite frankly inconsequential."
Nope. You may have your own subjective opinion on music but that does not mean it is objectively reasonably good music. E.g., the tone deaf will appreciate the tone deaf. Or someone will like Christina Aguilera's O Holy Night better than Mariah Carey's. So, nope.
"Someone has clearly been sleeping around since 1990."
Don't bring your mama into this. (Okay, I cheated here. Just like yo daddy.)
"Mariah has always been vocal and proud of her black heritage."
Yes, she has. No-one disputed that, babes. I have always extolled the virtues of her being mixed race. She wouldn't have been so amazing if she was not exactly made up of the stuff that makes her up.
"Too bad that for some strange reason you seem to have a problem with that. I wonder why."
Oh wonder. How many goodly creatures are there here. How beauteous mankind is. Oh brave new world, that has such people in it.
Wonder on that, Miranda.

"[Mariah] really thinks the success of Precious is due to her acting ability. Lol."
Not sure this is accurate, mate. Is there somewhere that says this? Mariah clearly can be shown to think her performance in this ranges from good to great but I am not sure she can be shown to think she was the lynch-pin. Perhaps I am wrong? It has been known.
"Mariah is a terrible actress."
I have milked a cow a few times (much to my chagrin); a farmer, I am not. I have cooked fine food; a chef, I am not. I have run a half-marathon; an athlete, I am not. I have massaged someone's shoulders; a whore, I am not. And so on. You get my point. Mariah is not a terrible actress because Mariah is not an actress. Mariah is a singer-songwriter - a singer-songwriter that has severely lost her way but a bloody good singer-somgwriter for quite some time, nevertheless.
"She emotes like acting 101 and is uncomfortable to watch in any scene."
Because Mariah has poetic dreams which translate into music only and in no way how she behaves outside of that. Her 3 facial expressions don't cut it in films. Mariah wanting to be in movies is an extension of her wanting to be sexually admired. That she originally thought she could be, and was told she could not be, sexually attractive in Precious should tell you everything. She said she read the book. Don't waste my time. In fact, in the film, she just acted bored and petulant but had great make-up. A few lines of attitude saying something like "If you want your cheque, sweety" does not depth convey. In fact I recall a moment where the lead actress (who should have won several awards for her subtlety and presence alone) says something possibly revealing - and Mariah has to convey this. I recall Mariah's vacant this-is-how-I-think-reveal-looks expression whilst her head slithers awkwardly off its neck. Awful. Just awful. Mariah was not "good in Precious". Precious was "good with Mariah in it".
Mariah is a terrible actress because her very existence is not even grounded in reality. She cannot play anything other than fake, because that is her approach to her career. That sounds like a gross offence, but its true.
I'll leave you with a scene from Will & Grace:
Grace: Was it bad? Will: Oh, Mariah Carey-in-Glitter bad.

Not that I have said this before, but lo the mundaneness of lambs listing lazily. Question: "What is your top 10?"
Answer: "Ooooh I just cannot. I have to put 14."
I would bet my left testicle and right ventricle that if the list game was "top 14", the Official Representatives of the Republic of Preteenica on here would make it a top 17.
But hey, your lived experiences. Just like mine is of mind-numbing exposure to the galaxtically cretinous.

Okay, Mariah, we get it. You are now black. And white people bad. And Save The Day isn't a [censored] awful song.

Yessss. The opening of TTR is the opening of AIWFCIY. Can't believe I did not notice this. Let's give it a go:
When you get caught in the snow With nowhere to go When your reindeer is in pain And his nose doesn't glow When you keep crying out "Ho Ho Ho" And nobody shows And you feel so sad and low That you start singing to "Almost Home"... "Hero" said you're not alone Or was that "Anytime..." Oh who cares-ayee-airs You can make it through the snow
Anyone is welcome to carry it on.
