She could have done a medley of One and Only and So Lonely. I saw she started with VOL. That's odd since the show is supposed to be a celebration of TEOM and she had ILT, SIO as perfect openers. Was there a reason behind her doing older songs for a majority of the show and then TEOM later? If so why no songs from albums after TEOM? All things aside she looks stunning, the gold dress she wears at the beginning of the TEOM set was beautiful and very TEOM coded. What I loved about some of the videos are that she was walking around by herself and even did a mini almost sprint. All these visually creates a more engaging show rather than using dancers as crutches. So she'll only get better. I hope with each show she also stops relying too much on the teleprompter but as always her shows getting better with more dates. The stage looks nice and moody very TEOM coded. To be fair, it is her current voice - I think it's clear now she's not getting her confidence back to sing them live. Her voice sounds good though. She looked great, not as stiff as her first Christmas shows, she'll only get better on stage. I didn't see enough clips to see how much she was singing live but her 2 mostly live staples VOL and Hero seemed majorly lipped. Still hoping for MC16 sometime soon. In Without You, I think she sings to a back track first, but sings live some parts of the chorus, it's hard to tell, she has gotten much better at lip synching. I hope that's true. She's not gotten anywhere with her midtempo RnB for a while now. Butterfly Lounge on the other hand is a total jazz project. How exciting is that? Lord only knows when any of these projects will see the light of day. I wish she had picked one project to focus on and not so many simultaneously. I think we're gonna get a varied album that'll have a bit of everything for everyone. She's been working on it for years and she really wants to give it her best it seems. She's picked the toughest year to do it but I hope that doesn't scare her away. It just occured to me (105,598) by Shezz from Pk True. Mariah and Ariana should have collaborated on a new song. After a couple of listens the song did grow on me and I heard it on repeat a lot but I asked myself why I myself or others didn't like it more: First of all, it's not a new song. Even though Mariah adds a lot of layers to this song and her new verse, it's still 99% the same song that A) has been played out and B) people didn't love much to begin with. I didn't find Mariah's vocals as grating or out of place as some people did. If Mariah, Ariana and Max Martin put them through - this is the style of singing they obviously wanted from her. I don't believe this remix is tanking because of Mariah's vocals. This song was on its way out of the top 40 anyway. It will push it back to the top 15 for a week and of course the original will be credited as it has more streams/downloads I'm sure. The opposite was true for Big Energy. It was a breakout hit and steadily climbing the charts when the remix came out and it just pushed it more. That wad good timing, this was not. It is certainly not the disaster many people think it is. It is just another building block for MC 16 which I'm sure will have the lyrics, music and vocals for all of us. Yes, And, I Don't (105,563) by Jamie from UK I think this track is what it is, I like the song. I liked it when it was just Ariana. Having Mariah on it now singing up beat is music to my ears. Is it Mariah's best performance no, but is it really her worst? I'd rather have this over I Don't any day. I think we need to cut her some slack, she's never gonna blow us away as she once did, she's 54 this year and unfortunately has declining vocals which I'm sure she herself is very well aware of. I was actually quite happy with her vocals on this track, let's be honest we've heard worse over the last few years. For a long time now we've been asking for Mariah to get herself together, she's finally started to clean up her act, her public presence and persona is back up to where it should be, her PR is back to where it should be and she's getting lots of attention and respect from fellow artists. Yet we continue to dissect everything she does and bash her when she finally does something positive. I would love Mariah to have her full 90's vocals back and to some degree her personality, but unfortunately it's not gonna happen. Vocal decline has happened for various reasons and she suffered a major breakdown which has changed her as it would. Not forgetting she's been living this famous life for a long time now and as much as stars say they haven't changed. They always do over time one way or another, hey non famous people change over time believe it or not. Nobody is the same or doing the same things as they once did 25 plus years ago. But instead of tearing her down let's give her praise for still being here, making music and gracing us with her presence for nearly 34 years, I'd much rather have her still with us than not. Now about Mariah and Ariana not liking each other, my opinion is it's not true. Ariana clearly idolizes Mariah and this isn't new. Even in her documentary she gets emotional when Mariah's team contacts her to be on her video. And as for Mariah, I feel like she doesn't really bother to mingle with people she doesn't care for. In the beginning she probably wasn't pleased because of the blatant "next Mariah" label that was pushed for Ariana's launch. But over the years I think that changed. Lastly in my opinion at this point everything is fair game, the music industry is no longer the same, you gotta play the game so if Mariah is using her connections to gain newer audience, then why not? In fact it's smart right before the next album. It's smart business move. Also I don't know how true this is but I saw somewhere that it's actually the opposite and because Ariana got a lot of recent backlash for getting with Ethan Slater she lost goodwill and her single didn't do well (despite being #1) so they're bringing on Mariah to boost Ariana too. Mariah still has a lot of pull whenever Ariana and Mariah are mentioned together it does lead to a lot of publicity so I think it is benefitting them both. Rockin' Around #1 (104,416) by Shezz from Pk Robert Anthony you called this weeks ago. There still are a few more weeks for her to get to number 1, I hope she gets one week atleast. Though you said you thought she won't hit number 1 this year. Maybe she'll hit number 1 on the chart for the first week of 2024 which will keep her streak going. I remember it was a really tight race last year as well and RATCT was also number 1 on Spotify last year but more towards the end. I don't think any amount of promotion at this point will make people stream or buy this song more than they already do. I don't think Mariah has anything left to accomplish with AIWFC - most of us were hoping it would help her get her longest running number 1 title back. It still can, might just take longer now. I think some people are generally getting a little tired of AIWFC (as per comments seen online). Heck even I tend to skip it on my Christmas playlist now sometimes - but whenever it does come on it still sounds pretty darn good I'll admit. Lets celebrate her reaching number 1 on the global Billboard and Spotify charts and looking great in the People shoot.
