About Dove from United States:

Live action (88,750) by Dove from United States
When I say live action I mean like Beauty and the Beast with Emma Watson and Cinderella with Lily James, not The Sound of Music with Carrie Underwood. So nobody would actually be singing live.

Re: Why (88,742) (88,748) by Dove from United States
Good points. If I were her I'd probably just tour too, for the time being.

Re: Okay, please nobody get mad (88,747) by Dove from United States
Ursula wanted Ariel's voice because that's what Eric was attracted to, and she was setting her up to fail (because she wanted her soul), not because she actually wanted her singing voice - Ursula has a great singing voice already.

Mariah looks young but not that young. Ariel is a teen and Mariah can pull off maybe 28. If she played Ariel that would look ridiculous. She could play a young princess in an animated princess movie but not a live action one. In my opinion.

Ursula is a way more interesting character anyway. Ariel is a young and dumb girl. She sold her soul for a guy she didn't even know. Ursula is a shrewd business woman. I think we all start out as Ariel but end up as Ursula. Plus, Mariah has that voluptuous womanly body and a tiny waist. Ariel has a teenager body.

Ariana is a talented singer but nobody sounds better than Mariah in a studio recording. She could knock it out if the park if done right.

Realistically I know this would never happen but it was a fun thought so I wanted to share it.

Okay, please nobody get mad (88,741) by Dove from United States
I was watching Disney princess videos and I just hatched an idea I had to share. This will probably never happen but dream with me. Okay, what if they did a live action movie of The Little Mermaid and Mariah played (a hot) Ursala and Ariana Grande played Ariel (with the red hair she had on Victorious). Mariah could wear this dress and they could CGI the tentacles. She could wear a wig with long light (white) hair and wear the dramatic Ursula makeup and red nails. They could paint her skin that pink yet lavender color. I imagine her really getting into character and singing it with the sass of the cartoon. And I love Mariah's speaking voice. They could film it in a zero gravity chamber so their hair can float around like they're under water. It would kinda make fun of what's said about her and show that she doesn't take herself too seriously.

I like the lyrics because she sings: "I admit that in the past I've been a nasty. They weren't kidding when they called me, well, a witch." And "I fortunately know a little magic, it's a talent that I always have possessed. And dear lady, please don't laugh I use it on behalf of the miserable, the lonely, and depressed." Because there have been reports that she is not nice and also to me she's magic so that part fits too. I feel like a lot of us lambs have said Mariah's music has gotten us through tough times when we were depressed. I think it would get people talking and would be funny and hopefully look and sound good. Even if it wasn't a whole movie, just that song Poor Unfortunate Souls.

Stella isn't my favorite either but things were bad with MC's career even before Stella, that's why she was hired in the first place.

Princess (88,730) by Dove from United States
Another way to appeal to the younger generation (and turn them on to her voice) is if she did the voice for a Disney princess movie. Like how Mandy Moore did Tangled and Idina Menzel did Frozen. I loved Disney animated movies when I was a kid (still do) and played them on repeat. Even now when I watch The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin it takes me back to a warm nostalgic place. Those songs and voices are a part of me. (I know she did AIWFCIY and it's cute and was definitely added to the list of Christmas movies we watch every year, along with A Christmas Melody, but it's not a Disney movie.)

She doesn't have to write the movie but she could team up with one of those Disney songwriters to write the songs. But no rap please because the goal is to appeal to as many people as possible. Not sure what classic fairytale but there are so many to choose from, I'm sure they could come up with something.

Re: Does anyone here even stream music? (88,703) (88,707) by Dove from United States
On Stan Twitter they pass around directions on how to get music to chart. My niece does it. The way I did it is: I used my regular phone to play it on Amazon Music continuously, my old phone to play it on iTunes continuously, then the 50 tabs (on two separate browsers, so it's actually 100) with YouTube. If you're trying to get one song to chart you have to add a 30 second interlude in-between and get the page to automatically refresh every 40 seconds.

I feel like buying the actual CD is the best way to support the artist and that's why I buy a bunch even though I don't know anybody other than my husband and myself who listen to actual CDs.

What is the best way to support an artist?

Young Mariah (88,705) by Dove from United States
I think a way to get younger people interested in Mariah is to have a TV show loosely based on her young life featuring her music as the soundtrack along with music that was popular at the time. She needs to get cool, good looking kids to play the characters. Then young people might be able to relate to her better. On a network station or Netflix.

Re: Does anyone here even stream music? Part 2 (88,699) (88,704) by Dove from United States
Dang your post made me feel super un-hip. Maybe I will try streaming again. My husband spends a fortune on new albums that he only plays a few times and then forgets about them. Maybe my 15 year old son will enjoy having a music subscription but he's never asked for one. It's only $15 for a family plan. It just makes me sad that I might forget about certain albums if I don't own them.

Re: Does anyone here even stream music? (88,695) (88,700) by Dove from United States
I don't have time to stream music the way young people do, with 50 tabs open on their computer playing the same song or album day and night to up the streams. I had a music subscription for about five months but I ended up always listening to albums I already owned so I ended my subscription. I like how CD's sound better than other formats so if I really like an album I buy it on CD. Places where I don't have a CD player I listen to the digital albums I buy - and those don't count towards streaming numbers. When Mariah releases a new album I do get iTunes and Amazon Music accounts to stream like a young person for about a week. I plan to do it for a month but I never do. My computer is new but in my mind it's going to crash like computers did back in the day when they had too many tabs open. Sometimes I have other things to do on the computer and don't want all those tabs open, then I get lazy to set it up again when I'm done.

Re: Does anyone here even stream music? (88,681) (88,685) by Dove from United States
I buy CD's and digital albums by my favorite artists but I don't stream. I like to own my music and there are so few new artists that interest me; paying for a subscription to a streaming service is not worth it for me.

I'm sad to live in a world where Adam Levine has more pull than Mariah Carey.

The remix (88,636) by Dove from United States
To me the rapper sounded too much like la Mikki Minach. I would have preferred 'Lil Kim and Missy because it would have been a cool throwback. Cardi would have been too much like jumping on a trend. Plus Cardi turned me off when she said she was too busy - when a legend calls I feel like you should make time.

Why is Merry Christmas not certified diamond yet? (88,635) by Dove from United States
I wonder why Merry Christmas is not certified diamond yet. Or the debut album. Can somebody please make a list of all of her albums and how much they've each sold? I'm super curious.

Michael Jackson (88,451) by Dove from United States
I haven't seen the documentary yet but I haven't listened to Michael Jackson much since Dangerous (other than at weddings) so I don't know if there are songs that are interpreted differently in light of the sex abuse allegations.

New video (88,450) by Dove from United States
I'm underwhelmed but thankful she's still making videos. She looks beautiful and it was nice to see the kids and her b/f.

Re: Michael Jackson (88,426) (88,449) by Dove from United States
I do believe he was a pedophile but I don't think we need to mute him because he's not alive and can't prey on kids anymore. I don't have a problem with his kids making money from his genius and I do believe his victims are entitled to monetary compensation.

Just because someone does bad things doesn't mean they are a completely bad person. Michael Jackson had a beautiful side too. We are all multifaceted people with the potential to do good or evil.

Re: Gospel album (88,187) (88,188) by Dove from United States
I feel like I'm on the same wavelength as this board lately too. The other day when I posted that I knew the whole Jamaica concert, adlibs and all, I thought "stop trying to make fetch happen" as I clicked submit. Because I'd been talking about that concert in my last few posts. Then you (Bill) wrote that to B. Then yesterday when I read Chops message to B about being positive, I thought: "there are people called haters and we give them positivity" then B wrote it. Probably a coincidence but it feels magical.

Why would a gospel album break her? I think it should be a side project that's released digitally and not heavily promoted. Kind of like Tori Kelly's gospel album. It was just something extra to tide fans over until her real album was released. (At least I think I read that somewhere.)

Gospel album (88,183) by Dove from United States
I love gospel songs that speak directly to God. They're so uplifting. If MC ever does a gospel album it would be cool if she (and Boys ll Men) redid The Sweet Acapella version of One Sweet Day to make it into a song for God. They could keep some of the original parts and vocals but rewrite and re-record some new parts. So it would sound like a duet between their former and present selves. I like these parts:

I won't be afraid
I'll be alright if you help me
I know you're looking down from heaven

And I won't let you down
I'll be everything you taught me
And all that I know is I'll wait
Patiently to see you in heaven

Feeling, knowing you hear me, it keeps me alive, alive...

And I know you're shining down on me from heaven
and I know eventually we'll be together one sweet day

Although the sun will never shine the same
I'll always look to a brighter day
Yeah, Lord I know when I lay me down to sleep
you will always listen as I pray

I know the 2015 Jamaica concert backwards and front: "Prayed through the night. With you sometimes - didn't I Maryann?"

Re: Unplugged concert (88,112) (88,113) by Dove from United States
Oh, yeah I knew about that. It was discussed on this board back then. To me that's one of my favorite performances though because she let loose and it seems like she's having a really good time. There's a ton of impromptu moments and I love it. It reminds me of when I went to a concert a few years back at Red Rocks in Colorado. At the time I didn't know marijuana was legal there and everyone was doing it out in the open. There were designed areas to smoke but nobody was following the rules and security couldn't get to everyone fast enough. I got such a second hand high. It was super fun though - probably the most fun I've had at a concert up until then. I don't drink or use drugs but if I ever go to a concert where MJ is legal I'll probably do it again. If in Rome.
