Lol. I was afraid I was doing that. Point made clearly. I will hold off on my reasons why Merry Christmas II You should not have had that piece together AIWFCIY duet with Justin Beiber. But, tell me why do you respond to multiple people posts all in one chuck of a time on the computer? We see your handsome face like six times in a row sometimes.

Miss You Most (At Christmas Time) (103,818)
by Andrew from the UK

I am so very sorry to hear that. If you would care to share, I am certain you would be in good company and receive much empathy and sympathy. There is only joy in anything because it reminds us of the sadness within the absence of it. That is to say: better to have loved and lost, etc. Better to have courage to see the positives, than resolve yourself to darkness.
It reminds me of a poem I wrote *cough* (of which Randy likes the title... but interestingly not the actual poem):
ALL THE AVAILABLE LIGHT
I remember when striken the thunderbolt that it's stormier still in the night - and though flashes of brilliance are fleeting, to paint all the available light.
It is not how dim-lit the Universe nor now woeful the world in your sight - if the canvas requires your bravery, so your conscience requires the fight.

Halloween is in two weeks. What is MC going to do this year to top last year's "it's time" video? I suspect this year Roc and Roe will be involved in the video. By the way, the 2019 Merry Christmas Anniversary Edition was released on November 1st, 2019. It will be 4 years old this year. I am ready for the festive season to begin.

Miss You Most (At Christmas Time) (103,810)
by Bill from the UK

Miss You Most wasn't an official single. It was issued for radio play only to promote the album. AIWFCIY went to pop stations, Miss You Most to AC stations, Joy to the World (and its remixes) to the club stations, and Jesus Born On This Day to the Christian stations. None were released as actual physical singles in the US at the time. JTTW was then given a single release in Australia the following year, and O Holy Night a US promotional release the year after that. AIWFCIY however was released across the rest of the world as a single in 1994, and, well, we all know how that panned out don't we.

Ah okay. I thought you meant that there was actual figures suggesting such a thing. But I get it. However, isn't romancing an idea one of the great things about Christmas? Is it not the one time when you wish for your perfect and believe it will come? Christmas is about *possibility*.

Y'all need to get yourself a grip up there in the Northern Hemisphere. I would give my left nut to see MC doing a Christmas show. You lot bitching and moaning about aspects of the Christmas concerts - spare a thought for those of us in the ass-end of the world that never get factored into Christmas concerts. And on top of that, we have to wake up to 40C and blazing sun on Christmas Day and listen to songs about how cold and snowy it is while we sweat into our speedos.

Torn (103,773)
by Andrew from the UK

Respect, but I disagree. I can forgive Mariah's lipsyncing and awkward transitions from live to pre-record and the flat notes - if it's a normal show. The Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour was the most fun I've ever had at a concert.
But in the Christmas show in London's O2, the smoke and mirrors was very apparent because the show was so slow and the songs not fan-favourites, per se.
You're right: watching Mariah in an arena is the Mariah Carey show - once you're there you sing, you dance, you laugh, you cry, for your favourite Mariah songs are so indelibly loud and everyone is partying.
The Christmas shows are ballad heavy and all the mirrors and smoke in the Universe can't hide certain truths.
Sweet Sweet Fantasy was amazing. Best night ever.

Just go and enjoy the show, however you don't need to spend $1000 for front row. The seats up and off to the side offer better views with less expense. Once you're there, you'll barely care about the whatever she may or may not mime. It's the "Mariah Carey" show so have a great time.

It's great your posting after such a long time: but, bro, if you spend $1000 on a front row seat to the greatest shit show on Earth, you need your head examined.
It baffles me that Mariah knows she cannot sing in tune, or produce a decent vocal right now and she's taking people's money. 'Tis rather audacious. Given that she was possibly the first person to put "YouTube" into a lyric, she must actually watch the videos on it, right?
$1000? Go on vacation, see the world, enjoy the fruits of the Earth, feel as alive as when you were young and the world was anew. Do not waste it watching someone be delusional.
Besides, if it's delusion you need, you can come here for free and read Terna's posts. And I invite you into his head with me. Rent's free, and it's very spacious, indeed.
I'm thinking of installing a water feature.

Wow, I haven't posted here in years. I see some familiar faces still live here. Is anyone else torn on whether or not to go see Mariah in this upcoming run of shows? On the one hand, I want to see her because I've been a lamb for 25 years. With so many stars dying, there is always a scary thought of what if this is your last chance in the back on my head. On the other hand, her performances are just awful and maddening these days. Those shows last year had me so upset and sad for her. I also hate how she waits until October to publicize the shows. Why not tell us in July or August so that people can get their coins and travel set ahead of time? It's inconsiderate considering that the shows are in the midst of 2 holidays. I had to ask myself could I justify paying up to $1,000 for a front row seat (I'm too old of a lamb to sit in the back) just to hear her sing flat, and lipsynch the same old songs in the same old arrangement? Yet... a part of me still longs to go just for the merch and the chance to be seen by her.

We will know by the end of the Merry Christmas One and All shows where MC's career will be next year. There is a reason why she doesn't have a recording contract right now. MC knows why she doesn't have a recording contract. No one would have believed in 1997 that the greatest female singer in world would not have a recording contract in 2023. It's sad that she couldn't get a indie or Shanachie recording contract right now. No label executive wants to invest money in her with the current state of her voice. There is talk among label executives about MC's career. We are no longer in an extended break between albums. We are in an official undisclosed album hiatus right now.

I wish it were possible to unsee things. Pray tell, who is that cartoon woman? It’s certainly not Mariah Carey.
Watch that video and then think back to, say, Anytime You Need A Friend at Proctor's Theatre. Could you ever have imagined, in the most wild of your dreamings, that the Mariah who sang that song on that stage that fateful night would go on to produce utter visual and audio cack such as this?

Something is definitely wrong here. I have been saying the same thing. Although she looked beautiful in the MB30 videos, I'm like why can't she just move and act naturally. It's very irritating sometimes. Then when she performs in Qatar, she's almost lifeless on stage, standing almost completely still and not performing at the level of a superstar who's been on stage for 30+ years. Let's not even talk about how much of the show she was lip syncing. I'm not sure what is going on behind the scenes but something definitely isn't quite right.

What is wrong with Mariah? (103,725)
by Andrew from the UK

Mariah is completely incapable these days of remaining still in a shot: she does about 20 different facial expressions that are not natural (that is, not reacting normally to the external input), she hunches her shoulders, clenches her fists, she gives up after a while then throws her arms in front of her face whilst diving out of shot, she seems incapable of breathing at normal places during a sentence, and she stresses love vowels which is irratating ("you said do the hiiiigh nooooote").
It's weird. No, it's super weird. No, its super-[censored] weird. What on Earth is going on in her head? Can't she just be natural, for once?
And she should stop with the All I Want For Christmas Is You nonsense until after Thanksgiving. It is not as if it is not possible for people to get sick of the song - and (whilst I may only be able to speak for British, and perhaps Western, people) it will turn good-will on its head if people thing she is using Christmas for self-promotion to fill a bank account. Good will is so easy to lose.

The Emancipation music videos were outstanding. I remember Don't Forget About Us was constantly showing in bars on the screens. I'm not one for pathetic showboating on X or other platforms but Mariah has, has she not, posted before about awful things that have happened, such as unlawful killings be the police, etc.
Thus, I wonder: where is the message of solidarity with the good people of Israel who have been subjugated to terrorism on a mass scale by fundamentalist terrorist psychopaths?
Are the people of Israel not worthy of mention or support?

Qatar wedding performance (103,706)
by Andrew from the UK

I'm somewhat confused. Mariah has been pulling the same shit for a decade and everytime I called it out I was a "hater"* etc. Has something changed dramatically?
What irks me is Mariah always seems to (struggle to) get to a semi-tone or tone under the key in which the song is. She sounds very out of tune and the pipes quite damaged. She would be better off just lower all tracks and attempting to sing them. If she can't sing them, she should stop taking people's money to watch her stand still and give half-arse performances.
But this is all old news: I was writing this dissenting opinion 10 years ago. What's changed to make make it a consensus?
*Incidentally, there is nothing wrong with "hate": it is a perfectly valid emotion, but "hater" has now become a pejorative of the Wokerati to dismiss dissenting opinion by labelling the speaker of bad character for having said opinion.
Basically, fascism.

Some artists have backing tracks to give their voices a break on taxing tours, they are human after all. When you're lipping more than singing and the live parts are subpart, that's a problem. Different from Madonna and Beyonce, Mariah concerts are centered on her voice and it's perfectly ok to expect consistent decent singing.

Most of what I've seen her mic was on but likely singing over herself. I think she sounds great. My All sounded the best it's sounded in recent years. I'm excited.
I feel the lambs have an unrealistic expectation. I noticed this during LA Pride, for example, where I (and many others) felt she sounded amazing, yet lots of hate from the lambily.
