Daydream was a huge seller globally and spawned three massively successful singles in the US. Fantasy ushered in a new era of music completely, the One Sweet Day 16 week run at #1 is still unbeaten some 20 odd years later, and ABMB is still on regular airplay rotation in the US. So, an tremendous commercial success, but you're completely right, Butterfly was Mariah Carey the artist shining through. Never before or after did Mariah ever make a record with such sincerity, honesty, and elegance.

I agree, and the title suggests a more traditional Christmas song which would be great. Jesus Born On This Day and One Child are both incredibly beautiful songs, I hope this is in a similar vein.

One Sweet Day (Mariah only version) (77,441)

This is beautiful. The same channel that uploaded the new Someday vocals, the Emotions acapella and AIWFCIY extended also has this beautiful, beautiful Mariah only version of One Sweet Day. 3:15 moved me to tears.

That is a mystery. I remember salivating when the extended AIWFCIY vocals appeared. This is equally as great and thanks so much for sharing. Edward I agree 100%, a re-issue of the debut or earlier songs etc. would go down a treat if remastered in this way and spruced up with something new.

I suppose the thing is as well, her other concerts she has done over her time are attended by her fans. There may be a disgruntled partner or parent amongst the crowds but predominantly it's her fans. With this tour with Lionel, it could well be that a large percentage of the audience aren't interested in her music or at best casual fans. Of course it can also be the other way round for Lionel. Does anyone know if they sang Endless Love together? Surely they must, she hasn't sang that one live since promoting it with Luther back in 1994.

I love Do You Think of Me. So much. That is so much more sensual and sexy than Honey ever could be. No offence to Honey of course, I love that song, but DYTOM is a whole other level of sensuality. And the lyrics... we've all been there.

I really thought the woman who "wades in insecurity" would vanish when the babies arrived. I don't wish to put words in everybody's mouths, but I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that a person's mother is always the loveliest and most beautiful woman in the world to that person. For that reason she has no need to be insecure because for Moroccan and Monroe, she will always be their world.

That was a great video, thanks for sharing. The only glimpses of the Mariah I know and love is when she is with her children. The Instagram pics she always looks happy and normal and relaxed and real, same as that moment with them on stage. I wonder if the woman who wears lingerie at a night club is some sort of decoy stunt double sometimes.

You're right. She can't do any melisma anymore. The upper register is lipped. She just sort of... yells in tune I guess is one way of putting it.

I can't get my head around how, for a singer of Mariah's status, it is now perfectly acceptable amongst fans for her first few shows to be horrifically bad and that she will improve show by show. If you pay top dollar for tickets to a Mariah Carey concert, you should expect her to do her job professionally and be able to sing through her songs without lip syncing or making changes to the arrangements and keys so that she can sing them through. If I did my job half arsed I'd be sacked, but instead I go in every day and give it "my all", as should she.

As DV said a while ago, we all know what the Lionel set list will be. It will be the same as every other set list. Allow me to elaborate: 08:00 start time 08:10 arrive (late) to Looking In intro 08:15 Emotions (dodged high notes and lipped) 08:20 My All (partially lipped) 08:25 ("Just one more night" club refrain goes on as MC changes costume) 08:30 Trey Lorenz solo song 08:35 I'll Be There (100% live but awful) 08:40 Band Introduction 08:45 Ramble about how much she hates Hero 08:50 Hero (partially lipped) 08:55 We Belong Together (lipped) 09:00 Butterfly Outro

New unheard Fantasy vocals (acapella) (76,974)
by Bill from the UK

Hi all, found this video on YouTube with some unused acapella vocals from Fantasy. It sounds like it may have been a re-sung version for the remix as she sings the "whatcha gon' do when you get out of jail" line.

Lol, the lambs absolutely crucified JD for no reason, and now he's deemed a not so bad manager by comparison to Stella. So when Stella is no longer her manager and somebody else is at the helm, I can't wait for the "bring back Stella" posts lol. Maybe the common denominator in all this mess is actually Mariah? Hashtag just saying.

The Beautiful Ones is such a poignant song with a really graceful delivery by Mariah. Don't really care too much for Dru Hill but Mariah's "if we got married" line still gets me every time. As for Fourth of July, never skipped it but always felt it a bit too syrupy for my tastes, but lyrically, as with everything on Butterfly, simply wonderful.
