About Edward from USA:

Andrew and the wrath of the lambs (50,151) by Edward from USA
Andrew, thanks for understanding that Shelly wasn't patronizing you, but rather being honest and caring. You only have to see her picture to know she's a sweetheart, I don't know why she keeps switching it. I've been as frustrated as you are right now, but always thought things would change, that the voice would somehow improve if she rested it for 20 years plus sleeping in a humidifier chamber, but now I'm just realistic to know that it could improve to be just consistent, but that's enough for me. Mariah has gotten a wake up call, she knows that "those days of dubbing are gone", but her time might not actually be through just yet. Now we only have wait and see if she got the memo. I know many people loathe you here, but I actually like you because I see myself in you, but way back then when I first saw my idol gasping for air while trying to sing a song she could sing before effortlessly while running on a treadmill with her high hills on. Just tone it down a little bit, and know that Eric should be addressed with respect. He's kept this website up and running for 17 years for us to vent. "Dude" is not a bad word, but in the context you used it, I think it wasn't appropriate. Before I get accused of professing my love to you, I'll say: keep on posting.

Mariah Carey / it is time (50,131) by Edward from USA
Mariah you are the epitome of true talent. It is time for you to trust somebody, maybe L.A. Read, to put together a great team, delegate, so you don't have to be so stressed over every aspect of your career. Once a good team has been put together, let them do their jobs while you worry about your music, writing, recording. Get in shape, get a vocal coach if you don't have one, and let the team work the rest. You rather have loving nannies than abusive ones, they'll never replace you as the loving mom that you are. Put your money to good use, most of us can't pay a life coach or a therapist when our lives are not going that well. Control can drive some people over the edge, it is good to have it, but too much of it is never healthy. When you were more worried about producing great albums, excellent songs, you looked happier and way much more humble. Many of us love that humble woman from Long Island, that one you dusted off and so gracefully brought back on Ellen no long ago. It is not even about the belting, "Misty Moon" and "Looking In" are examples of soul and emotion through your gift. I miss you.

Wouldn't it be nice? (49,940) by Edward from USA
While in Vegas, wouldn't it be nice if Mariah brought two drag-queens on stage as part of her show. She could bring RuPaul and Wendy Williams. RuPaul would be great and glamorous, and Wendy Williams would be. There. As I was saying, RuPaul would be great. Mariah could bring back her wild horses from the Butterfly video on stage and set them free while they run unbridled towards Wendy Williams forcing her to run for her life, and then Wendy's wig would be flying over the fake rainbow. Then Mariah would stop and say: I'm sadly sending my horses to therapy for having dealt with such a traumatic experience of seeing Wendy without her wig. If Mariah did that, her Vegas show would be a sure hit.

Ardis / Alison (49,932) by Edward from USA
Ardis, you only have to see the trajectory of Alison's life to realize whether what she says should be taken with a grain of salt or not. Why do you think a judge would give Mariah custody of Michael if he didn't consider the child wasn't in good hands. How many times have you heard about Morgan or Patricia trying to leech on Mariah or using her name for personal reasons? Alison was offered various opportunities to get her life straight once Mariah was making good money, but instead of grabbing those opportunities she decided to go on with the life that she had chosen. When you're an addict is not as easy to just change, but when you have a support system willing to help you, you have to do your part too. Alison decided to go and keep on having babies knowing there was a possibility of them being born with HIV, that's being selfish to me. I hope they reconcile because they are family, but attempting at discrediting Mariah wouldn't only make things worse after everything Mariah has done for her.

Ardis / read very carefully (49,920) by Edward from USA
Alison won't ever be able to pay Mariah for the support she's given her and her son Michael. Mariah got Michael under her wings as if he was her own son, took care of him in every aspect, paid for his college tuition. Mariah doesn't owe her anything. Mariah even paid for Alison's rehab a couple of times, but Alison didn't seem to want to help herself, that's why Mariah got primary custody of her son. I'm all for family, and I do hope they get together, talk and make up. Everything that Alison says should be taken with a grain of salt. We may be a little unhappy with Mariah's performances lately, but we do love her nonetheless. I would really like to see things from Alison's point of view, but I can't shove my head that far up in my ass.

Travon / #1's (49,901) by Edward from USA
Travon, as Abraham stated, I was just being sarcastic. Just for laughs.
(Saturday 7 February 2015; 22:04)
William / one look for each #1 (49,894) by Edward from USA
William, that's a great idea. One look for each #1. With breaks of four hours in between songs, so Mariah could change wigs, get her make up done, rest her voice, sips her tea, and warm up.

Lee / of course she will (49,885) by Edward from USA
Lee, Mariah's residency in Vegas won't be a five-night in a row type of thing, she'll perform three non consecutive nights a week, and it won't be all year around. She'll have time to rest her voice between shows and warm up. Of course she will lipsync here and there, she's only human. The problem is that it should be done with grace and professionalism. I know she wants the show to center on her voice, but that's not excuse to have a production with a lifeless stage. The stage at the Madison Square Garden was full of life, the lights would change sometimes with the mood of the song, she looked great. Nowadays we don't have any of that, the only thing we usually see is a dark uninspired background, except for the Beacon Christmas shows, where the production was great. She partially lipped at Beacon Theater, but she did it right and that's what counts. If some thought MIAMTEC was a make or break album, now we know for sure that her Vegas residency will be.

Andrew / everything is possible (49,860) by Edward from USA
Andrew, I do think Mariah can definitely recover, but as Nathan stated, she's going to have to want it and be the professional she can be. The huge boobs, sexy image, long weaves and diva attitude worked as smoke and mirrors for quite some time now, but with everybody being paparazzi with their smartphones nowadays, that won't alone do it. She needs to make it about her voice again. She needs to live up to her "The Return of The Voice" comeback slogan. With discipline and the right people around her, it's very possible. It's not about singing perfectly at this point, but singing with consistency, passion and confidence. I can't remember the last time Mariah Carey threw left herself go into a song with passion and left me wow. That's the Mariah I miss. I know L.A. Read is going to do some damage control, I hope she listens. It'd all be up to her.

Still enjoying her downfall? (49,761) by Edward from USA
At what point should people wake up and smell the coffee? This is way more serious than what some "bubbled lambs" want to make it out to be. I don't want Mariah to retire, but I don't blame any lamb for wanting her to do so, because I know they're doing it out of love. It is like some fans enjoy when Mariah put herself through all these embarrassments, and then call themselves super lambs. This is not a simple case of a bad performance, this stew has been in the pressure cooker for years, and now we see the consequences when the lid has been removed. The Emancipation Of Mimi was a great album, and Mariah was out there promoting her ass off, but we didn't have smart phones to document and almost instantly broadcast her every move on YouTube and social media. She got away with lipping her way through almost the entire TEOM era. The news fly fresh from the hands of concert goers, people don't have to wait. Even if Mariah came out with a super hit album, she's going to have to "really" deliver. All the supposed resting she has to do to sing one single song at a TV show and then fail is ridiculous to me. It hurts to see her go down like this because I consider her as family. Some of us are mad and frustrated because we care, if we didn't we wouldn't bother. People probably would have a little bit more sympathy for her if she were to at least say something. I hope she's been watching.

It's not about perfection (49,731) by Edward from USA
Nobody is expecting perfection from Mariah, those 90's days are gone. People want Mariah to be the professional we all know she can be. If there's something going wrong with a track, stop it, joke about it, sort it out, and start again, she's done that before, and the audience laughed if off with her. Mariah looked as if she was either drunk or high on stage, and walking off stage leaving a recording behind is unacceptable no matter how many divorces she's going through. If she wasn't feeling well, she shouldn't have taken the gig, as simple as that. Some people think that fans alone will go to Vegas, when in reality most of the tickets will be bought by the GP, and no casual listener is going to spend their good money to see Mariah spin around with a very bad case of miming just because she's Mariah Carey and she entitled to it. She shouldn't retire, she's still young, she just need to (all caps) "get it together". Once you fall, the only option is to get up. I don't think she could fall any lower. My heart is broken.

Marissa / I thought you had gotten the memo (49,640) by Edward from USA
Marissa, you last post was spot on. You need to keep in mind that for some people here dismissing other fan's opinions seem to grant them special fan status. I'm so happy we don't have somebody like that moderating this messageboard because it were so, it would've imploded a long time ago. A weird thing I have noticed on this board is that those on positiveness-autopilot usually fade away in time. In 17 years I have seen them come and go like Mariah changes her nannies. It reminds a dictatorship, where people are not allowed to question, because if you do, you're dead or punished.

Shelly / enablers (49,632) by Edward from USA
Shelly, you gave excellent pointers to Mariah on your last post. The thing about disrupting the flow of ballad to talk or ask the audience to fill in the blank is something she has been doing too often. The thing with the enablers around Mariah and on this board is that they could see Mariah helplessly drowning and they wouldn't even call 911 just because they think "there's nothing wrong with Mariah drowning every once in a while". They act like mommy and daddy are better parents when they allow their kids to do whatever they want. They like to brag when Mariah gets it right, but they don't contribute with constructive criticism for this outcome, but then they have the audacity to take credit for it. This is a wake-up call for Mariah, I hope she sees it as such. It is better this happened in Jamaica and not in Vegas. It's not a matter of getting it right here and there, it is a matter of getting it consistent even when it might not be perfect.

Hit or miss, is that the question? / 5th Harmony (49,596) by Edward from USA
If these "hit or miss" type of performances don't improve one way or the other, Mariah is going to start experiencing what Whitney went through during her last tour, it's only a matter of time. Some, in their wishful thinking, keep on finding a thousand excuses to make it seem as if everything is ok, but the blindest person is the one who refuses to see. Even her biggest apologist are finding it harder and harder to come up with reasonable excuses for her, when we all know what the problem is, the unpredictable condition of her voice. She could go on stage with a raggedy outfit, but if she sings well, that's what matters. Hit or miss is not acceptable when you are being paid good money. Her audience deserves a fair deal: genuine money for an at least acceptable performance. On another note, I'm loving "Like Mariah" form Firth Harmony. I like the way they use the sample.

Oops, I couldn't hear myself / "lip-sync 101" (49,569) by Edward from USA
How can it be that Mariah always has problems with these effing earpieces, and some keep finding a 1000 ways how to justify her? If you're going to lip, at least do it with professionalism, any drag-queen would give her a couple of "Lip-sync 101" classes. Thank God we always have technicians or anybody for that matter to blame for. Anything before her Vegas act should be on point, people are watching. The elephant is not in our little heads and rooms anymore for us to ignore, now he broke loose on YouTube. A whistle note here and there doesn't cut it anymore, she's going to have to sing and harmonize to get people to go to Vegas. And no, having the audience singing half of her songs for her won't cut it. It is so sad how we have settled for mediocrity. Wait a minute, maybe Nick, the suing Nannies, the company that makes her earpieces and her sound technicians are together in "the ultimate sabotage" of Mariah Carey.

Marissa, Abraham, G.G. / Funkin' for Jamaica (49,525) by Edward from USA
Marissa and Abraham, I completely agree. What she wore on Jamaica was like something she hurriedly got second-handed at the Salvation Army, horrible. She was so classy and nice on Ellen, he hair was beautiful, her outfit was great. Jamaica's weather is tropical, so she had a great opportunity at wearing nice outfits. I'm starting to believe that she is the one picking her own those things she wears. How can she not know those outfits are hideous? The flat hair is also starting to get old. G.G., it also baffles me that Mariah has been in business for 25 years, and yet any amateur drag-queen could lip-synch her songs better than her without spinning like a propeller. I hope she comes prepared to Vegas. As soon as I heard her say she wanted the show to focus on her voice, I got worried. Vegas is the perfect place to get a full blown production. Vegas is about that, and people go there for the extravaganza.

The wrath of the nannies (49,488) by Edward from USA
For those who want to dismiss these nannies' claims just because Mariah is our beloved diva, go listen to "Best Of My Love" and "I Want To Thank You" on YouTube. You'll clearly see that when some people sue, they do it because they have basis or something to show for. Note I said "some people", because there are many charlatans that are just looking for a way to make money. If Mariah treated these ladies fairly, her lawyers will be able to produce the evidence to support it. If she didn't, well, she'll have to settle to make it go away just like she did with the aforementioned songs. I never thought Michael Jackson molested any of those kids, but he made very stupid decisions by being alone without any type of witness or cameras to back him up in case some of these kids' parents came after him. There are many money hungry evil people out there, but there are those who are good and earnest.

Shelly / You Do Know What To Do (49,392) by Edward from USA
Shelly, you don't have to explain yourself, apologize or refrain from posting your opinions here because some might get mad at you. If they do, let them. There will always be that one person who will take things personal here, but don't let that be about you. As long as you're not being disrespectful to anybody or trashing Mariah or other artists here, I don't see why you have to double think voicing your honest opinions here; even when they might not go with the general opinion of group. Some might not agree with some of your views, but that's the beauty of it all, they have their own opinions to voice too. This is not a cult, you don't have to jump on the "Let me agree and post what people might consider acceptable" wagon. If someone get mad at you, you just have to "Shake It Off".

LA Reid / operation EOMM2 (49,287) by Edward from USA
L.A. Reid has always been very supportive of Mariah. Under his guidance "The Emancipation of Mimi" was born. He was instrumental in putting Mariah's public image back into good light. Many thinks that Mariah shouldn't change anything, but it is evident that when she does things right, her look and attitude on Ellen, way different from the "Breakfast Club" interview attitude, things go right. L.A. Reid will make sure she reconnects with radio DJ's so she could have a chance should she come with good music. Now she needs a manager that she actually listens to and the rest would be putting all the pieces together. I have a very good feeling about 2015 for Mariah. She seems to be pay attention, and I'm happy about that.

Bill / #1's (49,271) by Edward from USA
Bill, I like your list too. Yours is perfect for when the new compilation actually comes out. My list is just to entertain myself while awaiting for the real thing. I'm adding "AIWFCIY", "AAO" with Westlife to the list right now. I'm also replacing "Fantasy" ft. ODB with the album version.

Mimi L. / #1's (49,253) by Edward from USA
Mimi L., the following excerpt is from Mariah's official website "In celebration of Mariah's groundbreaking record, and in tandem with the concert series, Mariah is working on a new edition of her worldwide best-selling album #1's. Set to include all 18 of her number one hits, along with newly recorded music, the album will be released later this year." Since the article is on her website, we should agree that she's definitely working on a new edition of #1's. I created a playlist with her 18 #1's, and there's only space for a new five minutes song, so if she wants to release new music with it, it would have to be a double disc album. Mariah has enough music to give us at least six new songs. I'm excited about that.

Warren / my grandma (49,170) by Edward from USA
Warren, can you imagine my grandma dying from exposure to Nick's "music"?
(Wednesday 14 January 2015; 23:17)
B / Nick (49,163) by Edward from USA
B, exactly my point. I don't know why we keep bringing Nick's name into 2015, when clearly Mariah high-noted his ass into 2014 forever. So, he should stay there, in the past, while Mariah and her lambs keep on moving on. He's allowed to babysit sometimes though. Nick could be a good DJ, and an average host, but a musician, he is clearly not, nor will he ever be. I let my grandmother listen to one of his goofy songs from "White People Party Music" on late November 2014, and she didn't make it into 2015. Now I'll have to live with that for the rest of my life. 20 seconds into the song, she said: "I can't, my head" in Spanish, gave me the eye of being tortured, and the rest is history. Guys don't tell anybody, my father doesn't know.
