Re: The comeback(s) and the preoccupation with Mimi (71,256) (71,263) by B from USA
Mariah was sounding amazing during the Charmbracelet tour. Her demure vocals on the album were the result of label meddling which resulted in critics claiming her voice was shot as a result. She's proved she's still The Voice. Sure it's not the same as it was during her prime but when she lays off the splashes, works with a vocal coach, and doesn't speak for a day or two before performances she's still able to slay.

Re: Mariah in London (71,259) (71,260) by B from USA
I hope so. Despite the NYE debacle Mariah is still global megastar and she needs a manager capable of managing an artist of her caliber. I hope Stella is demoted to overseeing their production company Magic Carpet. I hope Mariah decides to only direct and compose a new song for the three movies because she needs a director like Lee to direct her or her vanity gets the best of her (being shot with different lighting than her costars in ACM).

Re: The One (71,241) (71,244) by B from USA
I think IDJ thought they could capitalize on the success of the original which didn't happen. They were filming the video when the decision was made which shows how last minute the decision was. I wish someone would ask Mariah about it. She's quoted and sung the I'm scared and I'm nervous part several times which means she knows it's a fan favorite.

Song streams shot up after failed performance (71,237) by B from USA
I agree Mariah's career is far from over but she needs to clean house and I'm sure she's got a confidentialality clause in her contract with Stella and her family members unless she doesn't which is how Stella was able to get her to agree to do a reality series.

Re: The One, Shining Through the Rain (71,229) (71,235) by B from USA
Mariah's performance of If You Only Knew and Somewhere Over The Rainbow is my favorite. Her performance of The One on the STR special is in my top 5.

Billboard and Ed Sheran (71,215) by B from USA
Billboard and Ed are defending Mariah. Billboard has an article that explains how and why this snafu occurred and how everyone lypsyncs at these events and how the weather and venue factored into it. Ed said what happened to Mariah could happen to anyone and that people should move on and that it's being blown out of proportion.

Re: Article: Mel B wonders if Mariah "doe" (71,207) (71,214) by B from USA
She's a Spice Girl and a judge on America's Got Talent which Nick is the host of.

NYE (71,208) by B from USA
A technical snafu isn't going to ruin Mariah's career twenty seven years into it. It's actually done the opposite. She's trending and people are streaming her back catalogue which speaks for itself. The reality show complete with fabricated story lines and actors, the diva attitude, and Stella are why the unwashed masses on Twitter are ragging on her. Stella doesn't understand that the divadom is an act that Mariah is in on and that Mariah has a self deprecating sense of humor or at least she did before Stella. Stella saying Mariah did them a favor by performing and that she was the biggest star there (which technically was true) is unflattering as are all of her comments about the debacle. Mariah needs to admit it was her teams fault and perform Thank God I Found You on GMA and fire Stella. Mariah needs to drop the diva act and ditch the diamonds and sing.

I love both but if I had to pick I'd pick Close My Eyes. It's a lyrical masterpiece.

Re: Record label wants to put out new single (71,127) (71,139) by B from USA
I hope the song Epic is wanting to release is her collaboration with The Weeknd. Mariah's last hit was #Beautiful. It wasn't a #1 but it was a hit. No one heard You're Mine (Eternal) which was the second and last official single from MIAM. Infinity was a bonus song that did well all things considered (it actually charted on the Hot 100 and received decent reviews). Infinity was released to promote her residency and the updated rerelease of #1's which it did.

Re: Article: Mariah facing huge legal battle after cancelling tour (71,132) (71,137) by B from USA
I love your avatar. I had it as mine before. I wish Mariah was a fashion darling who was on the cover of Vogue instead of a reality star. She went from shading reality stars to starring in a badly scripted docuseries.

Re: Out of control (71,133) (71,136) by B from USA
My mom said months ago that Stella reminded her of Selena's manager and I brushed it off because of the resulting tragedy. Stella is or claims to be a big fan that did whatever it took to become Mariah's manager and if she really cares about Mariah the artist and person it's time she step aside and do what is in Mariah's best interests.

Record label wants to put out new single (71,123) by B from USA
If Epic already has the song (single) why don't they just release it? Has Stella forgotten that Epic is Mariah's employer? A new single would benefit from all the media attention Mariah has been receiving since the NYE debacle. The Russian dictator needs to be overthrown and I think she's crossed a line by messing with Epic and LA Reid. He's not going to tolerate her antics and he will put her in her place. She isn't a star and she's a piss poor manager.

This has happened to several artist (Beyonce and Adele). They also blamed the promoters. Where there's smoke there's usually fire.

Re: Mariah's new audio (70,996) (71,059) by B from USA
Both Mariah's team (made up entirely of Stella's family and friends) and DCP's team were to blame for the NYE debacle. I think Mariah handled it well all things considered. I also don't blame her for giving up when the album version of We Belong Together started playing.

I agree that the voicemail is a step in the right direction. I hope it is a sign that Mariah is about to take back control from Stella.

Re: Voicemail (71,043) (71,056) by B from USA
Mimi, I agree. I think Stella and company were behind the NYE fiasco. When Mariah started asking questions Stella blamed DCP. Stella and Mariah need to take a break. Mariah needs to hire whoever is managing Barbra Streisand or Lionel Richie. She also needs to make amends with Cindy and beg her to be her publicist again. This debacle has only highlighted how out of her depth Stella is. She's a reality TV producer not a manager.

Re: Tomas Mottola (70,987) (71,020) by B from USA
Celine had a huge overseas fan base that also bought (purchased) her English-language albums. When my mom bought me a third copy of Butterfly for Christmas that year the receipt said she had purchased Celine's Let's Talk About Love. I wish I had kept that receipt. Has anyone read anything about this before? Why would Columbia (Sony) or The Record Store (which was the only record store where I live which is no longer in business) do this? The purchase of that album didn't benefit Butterfly, it benefited Celine's album. I guess Tommy was determined to prove he could succeed without Mariah at not only her expense but at any cost. (This is a true story.)

Re: Tomas Mottola (70,982) (70,985) by B from USA
Rene guided Celine's career. Tommy rewarded Walter for choosing him instead of Mariah by making him Sony's in house producer. I always found it weird that Celine worked almost exclusively with David Foster until My Heart Will Go On. However, I hate to say this but I agree with everything he said. Mariah should have never done a reality show and she needs a manager capable of managing a star of Mariah's caliber who has years of experience managing musicians and understands the industry. Walter won the 1999 Grammy Award for Record of the Year for producing "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion and the 2000 Grammy Award for Non-Classical Producer of the Year.

Re: Alpha-Tella? (70,978) (70,984) by B from USA
I have also experienced second hand embarrassment from (while) watching Mariah's World. When they showed her and BT reenacting the ending of the Honey video I cringed. I pray she doesn't do a second season of Stella's World. It's a staged incoherent mess. However, Mariah looks sane compared to the others. I think James Packer is gay and Mariah used him in a poor attempt to make Nick jealous or to prove that she wasn't lying when she told him she'd leave him for a billionaire.
