I can't find what she said about the former exec. What was the context? I hope it's someone who believed in her then but also believes in her now. I would like Lyor or LA to guide her next musical output. Imagine it was Tommy.

It's not that. Nobody wants her to go backward they just want to hear those classical melodies that her and Walter managed to pull out of each other. Walter mostly works with artists over fifty. Well news flash - that's Mariah. And not in a dismissive way but in a she's the boss way. She's made it to a point where people will relish in those classic MC sounds.

Straight forward singing (99,303)
by T from USA
| |
|
|
I know Mariah loves the sound of Fall In Love At Christmas with all the different voices and sounds but I also have this belief from talking to a lot of people that if she just had some straight forward singing songs, just her voice in just one octave, she would resonate with the audience again. Some may say that was Caution, and I say yes. Caution was a step in the right direction.

She could've used covid to immerse herself into her work to create something special. By the sounds of it she binged a lot of Netflix lol. In the old days she would lock herself away to create those stellar albums. Covid was the one last time I could see Mariah go back to that total seclusion to find a deep meaning album.

Remember at the beginning Melissa used to be everywhere Mariah went? Kinda like Stella was around all the time. And Tommy. Maybe Mariah needs that constant managerial support to keep her from going too far. She seems to always be looking off to the side during those interview segments. Is she looking for reassurance or guidance?

I really wish she would leave [Butterfly] alone. The one album that is absolute perfection will be tainted. I know everyone is hungry for new music and it is the 25th anniversary but I would rather her just film a new music video to a song on the album. Say Babydoll or Close My Eyes. Although I can picture a track on a re-release so I do know lol.

When did she say there's no demo? Last I heard her say during the book promotion was that she has to look for it and then this year she was going to do something with it but then decided to focus on FILAC because she loved it so much.

Hybrid non Christmas/Christmas album (99,238)
by T from USA
| |
|
|
I had a thought, what would've it been like it FILAC appeared on Caution in 2018? A studio album with one romantic Christmas song to be able to help sell the album. With Cautions release date being in November she could've segued into the holiday season while not abandoning her current project. A song like FILAC would've fit nicely on Caution and just because the word Christmas appears in the song doesn't take away from the general theme of love. ABBAs new studio album has a Christmas song on it as well.

Mariah has gained a ton of weight, she's once again not sleeping and then shows up on national tv insecure about her looks. This is crazy. She is so beautiful and could come back looking like a million dollars if she wants. Her voice is gone. She will use the covid tour excuse as her reason to not tour, and I for one agree with her on it. Preserve what little she has left and don't strain it. It was all the touring that did this to her in the first place. And the unhealthy lifestyle. Before every album era she says her voice is in great shape and like lambs being led to slaughter we buy it. She will keep playing this game with us, although my suspicion is that if it turns out to not be true than the fans will not be happy because there is nothing else to hang hope on except the vocal surgeon.

If she cannot do a whole song live now as it is then what's the difference if she looses the whistle? To me that would be the easiest thing to lip to in a pre-recorded situation. I would rather her do the surgery so she can sing 90% like she used to.

The reason her musical director might be going back to the well for the older stuff is because the older stuff was really that good. It's pure magic. If she's going to revisit the past, why not start with a person from the past who is part of the legacy? Why not team up with Walter Afanasief outside of Tommy's control and see what will materialize. Maybe the best stuff yet.

It's happening. She already did [...] and has been into reimagining her songs as of late (oh Santa, CBPCH, WBT, etc). The Butterfly Lounge is recreating Butterfly the album for the 25th anniversary next year. It's why she said she's planning something with [...]. Those songs are so closely tied to her memoir that it's the next logical step to get people to hear them again. Notice The Rarities didn't have anything Butterfly related? That's because it's all happening next year.

Forget about fresh. Word on the street is that she's reimagining songs like [The Roof and [My All] for [Butterfly's] 25th anniversary in 2022. Brandy and the Clark sisters would be part of that project.

Re: Do you like Mariah? (99,102) (99,106)

I agree. I thought signing with [Roc Nation] and releasing [Caution] was the turn around we were all waiting for. She was reminding me of Daydream/Butterfly Mariah in her sexy classiness. Her image was flawless at the beginning of 2018 right up until the end of 2019. She's gone backwards toward those dreaded Stella days. We can blame Stella all we want but what if Mariah can keep it together for only short amounts of time? What if the lambs are faced with the possibility that every few years Mariah starts reverting to immaturity.

Fall in love again with Angels Cry 2018 (99,101)
by T from USA
| |
|
|
Remember when Mariah was finishing up the Caution album and one of the last songs she finished was "Caution" with NoID. She mentioned that they also did a song called "Angels Cry" but it wasn't finished in time. It was described as a Latin guitar ballad. Now I'm wondering if Fall In Love At Christmas isn't a reworking of that song. Especially since some of the lyrics references the word angels, and the whole Latin guitar vibes.

This was recorded months ago, not in the winter (as winter doesn’t officially begin until December 21st). Plus this is all done in LA anyway. For example, FILAC was done in May/June of this past year. I actually think her true winter performances are better, like the Beacon shows.

No she didn't get the message with Caution because it didn't become the hit it could've been. She even says she didn't like the process of making it (after the fact). Remember, Mariah always goes back to the times in her life when she was most successful and tries to recreate those sounds. That always puts her in a TEOM/EMC2 state of mind. If Caution was a runaway success then I truly believe she would continue down that road, now I'm afraid she doesn't know it. I too hope she works with producers she's never worked with, particularly Max Matin.

No more Vegas for MC please. Mariah needs to go out into the world and reconnect with her fans. In Australia, South America, Canada and the UK. If she hides in Vegas she will eventually fade away in the worlds markets.

MC diamond edition (99,016)
by T from USA
| |
|
|
Wouldn't it be cool for a release of a diamond edition of Merry Christmas? It could include Fall In Love At Christmas, Where Are You Christmas and a few new songs. I think she's at the point now that she could group all her original songs onto one disc, and of course an additional disc with all her Christmas covers (for the traditionalists). Who else would love a double disc MC diamond edition album?

When you google the CEO, president and head of A&R they are all real record people. And pioneers of getting hip hop to the mainstream back in the day. They had major success with Alicia Keys among others and are currently getting H.E.R. over big time. This way she could still be linked with Sony for her back catalogue but with 52 Grammy nominations this year I think it's the way to go. Plus Khalid and Kirk are both there too.

Mariah and BTS (99,005)
by T from USA
| |
|
|
There was rumours that a Christmas song with these artists was in the works. Now it appears it didn't happen and BTS is doing it anyway. I wonder if the Christmas special on Apple was cut short because she didn't agree to do the single? Last year she had a song with Ariana Grande and the special was given so much money. This year the excuse was Covid restrictions but I feel last year was way more restrictive. I think she doesn't want to play the corporate game anymore. And that may cost her some future success.
