Article: Madonna and Mariah get insulted after success (57,821) by Martyn from England, UK
This article is so weird, it's like somebody has put it in Google translate from another language or something.

Janet Jackson's new album (57,214) by Martyn from England, UK
Not sure if it's already been discussed here, and apologies if it has, but can we all just talk about how amazing Janet's new album is? I hear it's set to go to #1 too which is great. I hope Mariah's next album can do the same.

Article: What it's like to get a selfie with Mariah Carey (56,780) by Martyn from England, UK
Okay, this is weird. Please tell me Mariah doesn't smoke.

Queen of shade (56,471) by Martyn from England, UK
Can we just talk about the absolute shade of Mariah's birthday message to Beyoncé? She's posted a photo of her and Beyoncé together where Beyoncé looks ridiculously shiny and she looks flawless Classic Mariah.

Bette Midler / Mariah's stage presence (55,298) by Martyn from England, UK
I went to see Bette Midler live last night and have woken up today still in awe at her performance. She was absolutely incredible - so engaging, energetic and full of life. It made me sad that Mariah no longer seems to care about putting on a show. In fairness, they're two very different types of artist (Mariah's voice obviously runs circles around Bette's), but it made me yearn for Mariah of yesteryear when she used to move around the stage and fully connect with the audience. People are so quick to blame age, but Bette is almost 70 and I felt like I was watching a 20 year old. She was relevant and current but without seeming try-hard or age-inappropriate. I love Mariah more than life itself, but I think she would gain a lot from watching Bette's show. I know she has it in her, I just think she's become disconnected. She needs to reconnect.

Leave Triumphant alone (54,221) by Martyn from England, UK
I don't care that it flopped, it's in my top 5 Mariah songs of all time. It's so empowering. I will never understand the hate.

Recent interviews (53,322) by Martyn from England, UK
Is anybody else getting a 1999 vibe from all these recent interviews? They're all so interesting and revealing. I need to know who stole her intellectual property.

Unofficial Infinity remix (53,217) by Martyn from England, UK
Guys, have you head this unofficial remix? It's incredible, probably better than whatever the official will end up sounding like.

No video? (52,603) by Martyn from England, UK
So Mariah mentioned in an interview that they haven't filmed the video. The song is out next week (?) and there's no video yet? Just ridiculous. It's like she wants it to fail.

Team Andrew (52,526) by Martyn from England, UK
Andrew gets such a bad wrap on this board, he just tells it like it is. That's his truth, we don't all have to agree? I disagree with a lot of the things he says, but that's my opinion and he's entitled to his. I'm firmly team Andrew, leave the poor boy alone.

No Photoshop? (52,200) by Martyn from England, UK
Guys, I love the single cover and I love Mariah, but the people who are saying that it uses little to no photoshop are deluded. It's photoshopped to the nines. Either way, I think it's a really cute cover. Nice to see her smile.

Disappointing tracklisting (51,704) by Martyn from England, UK
So we're basically getting the #1's and one new track. Seems a bit silly to me, there's no incentive for long-time fans to buy what is essentially another lazy compilation album. There was a small, deluded part of me that thought we may get a second CD with a few demos or unreleased tracks, but of course we're not.

UK fans - Stars In Their Eyes (51,230) by Martyn from England, UK
Just wanted to give a heads up to all the UK Mariah fans. Challenge TV is currently repeating early 90s episodes of Stars In Their Eyes each Saturday evening. They're currently on the 1993 series, and I believe in the next episode or two a lady performs as Mariah Carey (you can actually see it online here). She sings Vision Of Love and doesn't sound anything like her, but surprisingly she wins. Anyway, I thought I'd give you a heads up so you can see it, and also because she sings Love Takes Time in the final and I've never seen it before.

Nathan Morris (Boyz II Men) comments on bad performance (49,813) by Martyn from England, UK
Has anybody seen that Nathan Morris has addressed Mariah's poor vocal on his Facebook page? Very brave of him to be so honest. I wonder what Mariah would think if she saw it? He said the following: We as artists should never lose sight or take for granted our gift. The older we get the harder it gets to maintain it, it just doesn't come as easy anymore. But maintaining it can be done. Many artist have done it for years. Usually the more you work-out the stronger your body gets. The more we read the better we get at reading. Exercising and maintaining the quality of your voice is no different. We all have (as artists) had bad performances in our careers that's normal, no one is perfect. And some may have even stuck in a backing vocal or two on those bad vocal days. But when performances like this happen on a consistent basis they are no longer considered mistakes or accidents, they are now habits. We as artists at some point must take the blame when we put ourselves in uncompromising positions such as this. I feel bad for her because I know what she can be, but she has to want to be that again. Being relevant just doesn't do it. I'm sure one of our teachers at some point in our lives told us that if we continue to cheat we would get caught. I know she is coming to Vegas for a residency soon and I pray all goes well for her. Trust me, Vegas is no cake walk.

Christmas Shows / Jesus Oh What A Wonderful Child (48,720) by Martyn from England, UK
I've been seeing "Jesus Oh What A Wonderful Child" in the setlist for a few of these shows. Did she actually sing it, or was it just Trey and the choir? Can anybody who was there confirm this for me? I would love to hear her sing this nowadays, but I highly doubt she did for some reason. I can't see modern-day Mariah going in for that gospel breakdown haha.

Debbie Gibson (48,363) by Martyn from England, UK
I don't post on this board very often because it tends to be rather negative and argument filled. But guys, can we please just talk about Debbie Gibson? I'm guessing she's an American thing because I have no idea who she is, but what an amazing thing to do. The time, effort and passion she put into that post is so commendable, and I really hope that Mariah reads it at some point. The media are constantly pitting strong women against each other. If more women stood together like this instead of playing up to the narrative created by the media (Nicki Minaj feud anyone?) they may back off a bit. I'm done with female artists being treated like second class citizens because of their gender. Male artists don't have to put up with half of this rubbish. Thank you Debbie, whoever you are. What you did was an impressive and important move. Girl power.

Marc Shaiman (48,282) by Martyn from England, UK
PS. I see somebody mentioned Marc Shaiman. I have always thought they worked magically together on MCIIY. I'd love to see them collaborate on a non-Christmas album. I really think he could be the modern day Walter. (And that's the last time I'm mentioning Walter. I had always wanted them to reunite until his most recent interview. After that "I don't know him".)

My few pence (48,281) by Martyn from England, UK
So here's my few pence (or cents for my American friends) on the situation.
1) Mariah is probably completely unaware that any of this is happening because she's too busy rolling around in her $500m fortune and living in her fabulous unicorn and rainbow-filled bubble.
2) She's well aware that her voice has deteriorated because she usually supplies the sound engineers with pre-recorded high bits that she can mime along to. Her voice has suffered because she doesn't mime full concerts like Celine Dion and she drinks champagne every day, wouldn't you?
3) Yes she's had her peak, and quite frankly it was the Everest to your faves' Ben Nevis. Flick through her receipts, she's the Waitrose to Beyonce's Lidl. (N.B. for American readers, Waitrose is very posh and Lidl is the British equivalent to Walmart or Target.)
4) She's Mariah Carey. There's nothing left to prove.
Any more questions? Ask Mariah. She can probably be found somewhere sunny, under an umbrella being held for her by a member of staff. Sometimes she hits. Sometimes she misses. All I care about is that she continues to make great music and bless us with her gift.

The Art Of Letting Go / hilarious list drama (46,955) by Martyn from England, UK
I absolutely adore this song. When I first heard it, I was disappointed because I didn't (and still don't) think it's a "single", it's more of a standout/"blow you away" album track. I actually wish I'd have heard it for the first time in the context of the album instead of a single. Additionally, I love it as the closing track on the album, I just wish it wasn't a bonus track and didn't come after the (bizarrely added) Memoirs throwaways.
Andrew from the UK, you have summed up everything I feel about this hilarious list drama. If people really "didn't care" about the lists, they wouldn't be leaving shady little comments. Let's just live and let live, and leave the subtle shade throwing to MC, shall we?

Lists (46,933) by Martyn from England, UK
I don't find lists annoying. What I do find annoying is people moaning about other people's posts (which I guess is exactly what I'm doing now so I'm being relatively hypocritical). It's really not that taxing to use your finger to scroll past though, guys.

Campaign for UK Christmas #1 (46,784) by Martyn from England, UK
Hey guys. So I've made a Facebook page for the campaign I mentioned in my previous post, you can find it here. Once the page has 25 likes I can get a shorter URL for it and I'll start spreading the word to Mariah Daily and all the other fansites. Invite all the Mariah fans you know. And if anybody wants to share admin duties, let me know and I'll sign you up.

All I Want For Christmas to UK #1 (46,754) by Martyn from England, UK
So this Christmas marks 20 years since the release of All I Want For Christmas, and I still think it's a travesty that it only got to number 2 in the UK. It deserves to be a Christmas number 1. It's managed to chart in the top 15 quite a few times since they brought the new chart rules in (it got to #4 in 2007), so I think we should start a campaign to get it to Christmas #1 for the 20th anniversary. What say you all? Are you with me?

Jazz ballads (46,679) by Martyn from England, UK
I've noticed a lot of people saying they'd love to hear Mariah do a jazz album, and I completely agree. Her voice is perfect for jazz (The Wind, Christmas Time Is In The Air Again). Margaret Whiting did an incredible cover of "Time After Time", I'd love to hear Mariah sing this.

If It's Over (46,435) by Martyn from England, UK
The MTV Unplugged version is one of my all time favourite Mariah performances. It gives me shivers every time I listen to it. On days when I'm feeling a bit rubbish, I pop my earphones in and pretend to be 1992 Mariah for those 3 minutes and 48 seconds, and everything is resolved.
