Photoshoot (105,897) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Markus Klinko, the photographer behind Mariah's iconic TEOM shoot, has been hired by her again to do a new shoot for her Vegas residency. Apparently the photos will be inspired by TEOM photos. Now this has got me thinking, why is that the case? She's been recycling old TEOM photos for it and it's just. Month away why is she now doing a new shoot? Could she be using it for MC16? Fun fact for those who don't know, Mariah called Markus in the middle of the night insisting on him doing the shoot and asking for an exact pose he saw from his work, here's the inspiration photo. To each heir own but I'm my opinion, it's disgusting that anyone would do that to their fans and take advantage of them like this. I can understand a deluxe version with new tracks but anything more than that is just unnecessary. I'm glad I'm not a fan because I work hard for my money and would not want to spend it like this. Don't even get me started on the recycling of entire albums. I know why she did it but I still don't like it. I don't have a rich mom and dad to pay for my 4 versions of the same album. She said she is collaborating with new artists and established legends on a supposed album of her own. TBL she has alluded multiple times is completed and she's looking for a streaming partner. She also mentioned a "duets" and "inspirational" album. Very recently she said she has 10 songs written so almost enough for an album. Khalid, Latto and Ariana Grande are all newer artists she has delivered throughout the years. Guys, albums aren't in. They don't sell and have a shelf life of one week. It's not happening. The Butterfly Lounge, these new collections of songs, it's all her creating but it doesn't mean it's being packaged as an album in the traditional sense. Max Martin was the biggest surprise as it is the farthest sound Mariah is known for these days. But it was a fresh sound. Let's wait for the Christmas shows, I hear they are going international this year. I just don't want people spending their whole year waiting for a new album when it's clear that she isn't there. Vegas is being branded as a TEOM theme. Setting her up for a big Mimi anniversary next Spring. I do have a feeling she is holding SUD back to see if she's getting into the RRHOF. Also I'm curious to know why this Vegas residency is TEOM themed? What's the significance? It's not a milestone year and if she was going to do a residency eitherways why market it for an album released 19 years ago? Anyways as frustrated as Mariah's business moves make me, I gotta say I'm grateful she doesn't rob the fans like some artists are doing aka Taylor Swift releasing multiple versions of the same album with only 1 exclusive track in each to basically make fans buy 4 "limited edition" versions of the same album. This is on top of the tour, tour merch, tour movie at cinemas, the tour movie rental and now the tour movie streaming. That on top of releasing re-recordings of old albums and there's 2 more to go. Memoirs remains one of my favorite albums and the Angels Advocate and Smoke Jumpers remix albums were just tossed aside like yesterday's garbage. What a damn shame. Controversial (105,799) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I think Mariah's team consistently fails to market her legendary career. Like regular people have no idea how many, she's not just the artist with the most #1's but she's also one of the few female producers (among mostly male producers) who has a high number of #1's. They also forget that out of 19 of her #1's, 18 were written by her. Her team really fails to promote her artistry. Taylor for example everyone goes nuts over how lyrics and her songwriting and she has a course in uni dedicated to her. She even got a honorary doctorate for it. Mariah literally is ten times the writer Taylor will be and yet people barely know she writes her own music. (Come on this woman literally wrote a whole song about this guy's "honey" and how it tastes and made it sound like a romantic innocent song.) Same for the Eras tour. Taylor's reputation was quite damaged since 1989, people weren't really caring for her until the Eras tour and her strategy for it was to turn the tour into something that's "unmissable" creating FOMO around it so even people who don't like her are splurging to watch her. Taylor took the Scooter Braun feud and turned it into a money making machine while simultaneously presenting it as women empowerment movement. Mariah had a very similar situation with Tommy and Sony. Her team could have angled it at how this young girl who was naïve was systematically almost destroyed by her mentor and how she overcame it. She should have done more high profile speaking events. There's a lot they could have done position to position Mariah in an unsinkable powerhouse way early on in her career that would made her base stronger but instead her team is mostly reactive not proactive. Because of the lazy approach she's mostly now known for her ability to sing in whistle register and her Christmas music. It's a shame we have to go so long without hearing new music but we'll always have her extensive catalogue and nobody will take that away or forget her. She should be studied in Music School, I believe some already have. The Mariah Carey course has a nice ring to it. She's unique in a lot of ways, always imitated but never duplicated. In fact, her best career inspirations are the twins, who are probably behind her social media ideas. But she's not surrounded by musical nor business partners. The fact that Mariah ruled the 90s and then had that amazing era in 05-06 (I'd even include 07, because of the TMB hype), was truly a blessing for her. All I hope for, is for one more top ten hit single and solid well crafted music/albums after that. I really want to see more of Mariah the artist and not just Mariah the "number one Hot 100 chaser", or half hearted just throw some music out there singer (looking at you Save the Day). HATEU also isn't a song that you can really sing along too. LA was too stuck in his "upbeat" followed by "ballad" formula that worked for TEOM. But why not switch it up and do back to back up beats? I can't believe in a party record like E=MC2 he released "Bye Bye". After "Obsessed" a MTJF single with a few brand affiliations (since she name drops a lot of brands) shot in Italy would have been dope. I hope Mariah never releases anything anymore (105,751) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Obsessed was a great first choice just like TMB was a great first choice for E=MC2, but similar to the latter the next single choices and the cheesy music videos ruined it. MOAIA was going to be an ambitious project with 2 remix projects (one with high profile collabs) and it had an Elle magazine tie in. But at the end of the day what sells an album is how it's introduced to the world and the singles play a huge role in it (in my opinion). So releasing HATEU, which is a great song, don't get me wrong, but not single worthy with that hideous video, was a mess. And then IWKWLI. There were other great options which had catchy choruses and more radio friendly that could have been better choices like MTJF, BGK etc. Also the HATEU remix would have done better than the OG. Don't get me wrong, it could be joint decisions between MC and LA and not solely LA's fault, but as the label executive he should have known better. Also the comments he made when she came to epic implying she has no original hits in her and should just sing covers, I felt was a big insult to someone who puts her songwriting over her singing.
