Article: Vanessa Williams joins VH1 Divas Holiday: Unsilent Night (68,421)
by RibbonB from USA

So "the powers that be" are finally letting the real divas back on Diva's Live? The past few years have been full of also rans, IMO. I remember one Diva's Soul show, where they had Florence of and the Machine and Kellie Clarkson, Big sideye. They they talked about British soul divas and fairly forgot to mention the queen, Sade. So it is very nice to see this roster of Patti, Chaka, Mariah, and Vanessa Williams. This should be cute. Mariah better get her vocal rest.

Girl, stop trying to drag me into this fray, I'm trying to stay above it. It is so declasse' Hahaha. You know I called stunt from day one, practically. It is a reality show mess, very scripted for dramatic effect. I am holding back on this spoiler alert that I have imagined, but they seem to have telegraphed the thing with leads, leaks, clues and down right hitting people over the head now. Lol I just think about those little cute babies and hope it all somehow ends well. I am still hoping for Mariah to back hand slap Stella until the blush smears. On the show of course. Lol I think there will be some dramatic conclusion, perhaps Stellar's firation? I will trust you to keep me informed because I don't watch train wrecks. Please tell me when the babies appear so I can try to catch a repeat or video of it.

Stellar's garden variety shows are banal family events, for the most part. This is taking M. deep into Kardashian waters, for no good reason. But also remember this one will be aired world wide, where the MIAM show was just on NBC in the US if I recall. They are trying to guarantee a big bang with ratchet pre-press, IMO.

I would live for that footage of Mariah Bitch slapping Stellar into next week. And don't forget the wig/weave pulling. That's one way to get rid of the wigs you hate.

Hopefully she will get a spin-off and spin right out of MW. Ding, ding. Maybe they will have a slap fight on the show, with blush spread everywhere. *spoiler alert* That isn't my real thought for a good outcome, but now that I mention slap fight, that would be perfect for a ratchet reality show on E network. You gotta have fights and drink throwing. Now that would be a way to finish Stellar off.

I know, I am not a big fan of theirs either, but I have heard people calling it a masterpiece. I have yet to listen to it, but I will just to form my own opinion. The last rap record I loved was Outkast's "The Love Below" and some of Speakerboxx.

A Tribe Called Quest (68,348)

Congrats to them, projected to have their first number one cd release in 20 years with around 120,000 equivalent sales. I'm sure their SNL performance helped a bit, plus good music. Putting in the work and quality music does get rewarded. Mariah can do it without gimmicks. Relevancy is a state of mind not a set of staged tabloid click-bait moments.

She could have tried a more authentic working on myself through therapy to self empowerment era. Or the professional mom and musician era. Now we are getting the "delusional gold-digger diva for social media" era? She has a myriad of ways to "be relevant". But if she wants to follow the Kardashian model of relevancy, then so it is and she will deal with the consequences or the reward only this time she has two children involved, which makes this more desperate plea for attention seem all the more reckless.

Good outcome? (68,324)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
I can predict one good outcome for this show, but it would be a big spoiler to mention my thoughts. The set up thus far for this show makes it seem bleak and very contrived IMO. Whatever happens, I hope it is worth it to her. Again, I hope Stella fades away like yesterday.

Unfortunately it may take all of those things you mentioned because she is turning off a lot of the people who would have watched it, her fans. But she is all in, so best wishes to her children. I don't give two sticks about Stella and crew. I have said from the beginning that I think this show is a terrible idea, but she is trolling like Trump and she will have to go through with it. I hope it will be far shorter than four years though. I hope for great music sometime in the future.

But when I say have them around men so publicly and quickly, I am speaking for what is proven wise for most women, not just M. But she is no exception with or without so many handlers around. I hate to read the stories about women getting caught up in money, or worst being hard up for money and making snap decisions without proper regard for their sake let alone their children. I am just speaking in general to that point.

On to the next chapter. I hope the holidays will be more about her time with her children. I'm sure JP will pop up with his usual thin brunette "model" type for the holidays. Hope no petty run ins in Aspen. Lol.

I think him not publicly interacting with her children was intentional and a good thing. IMO they were seen too early in his presence when they first allegedly started dating with them on his yacht. The picture of Roe giving the sideeye and Roc looking exasperated was very telling then. Lol. But seriously M. should get very familiar with any man, good and bad side, before ever letting them interact with her children. Not to mention, he has three children of his own that he is never photographed with. Why have more of a public record with someone else's children and not of him and his own. Roc and Roe have a father and it might be important to him as well. Nick has been very respectful of Mariah in that regard. Not that Future is a great example of anything, but he had a point when Ciara was using their son in photo ops with her then new beau, Russell. Time usually tells and now she is married, but M. is now embroiled in a public breakup of what may be a very public stunt, start to finish and IMO the children really shouldn't be involved in that, especially not to the extent that they have been thus far.

I could go a few years without seeing Mariah on a yacht. In fact I would just love to see her out and about with just her kids or even at home with just her kids, without Stellar and crew attached to her like barnacles on the bottom of a ship. Lol I know she always had an assistant, a bodyguard, a driver and maybe a few others out in public, but Stellar and her whole family in addition to these people is overboard.

He would be the last one to do a tell-all, IMO. It is still so very annoying though. I wonder when he will resurface though.

Mariah inducts Gladys Rock&Roll Hall of Fame (68,254)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|

For the nostalgia and thinking about Gladys, Mariah so young and nervous giving a heartfelt speech about Ms. Knight. I hope M. will be inducted within the next ten years or so, I would say and I hope some great singer will have wonderful things to say about her and her legacy. I wish M. was not so focused on image and would get back to true authenticity and the voice that she mentions regarding Gladys.

Yes the voice alone, but she happens to favor Gladys too with the pixie haircuts and the high forehead and their skin tones. When I want to get lifted, Glaydys' Oh Holy Night is a go to song.

Here is Gladys in that Oh Holy Night performance live. She masterfully works with both the background singers and the orchestra and as suave as can be. I rarely think of suave for women, but she is that here. Lol. She is me AF at 5:10, joy that today is Friday.
