Re: Why so melodramatic? (66,321) (66,440) by B from USA
I'm hoping the docuseries focuses more on the tour and less on her recent antics and entourage. This series can silence the critics who say [...] can't sing and can make her more likeable. Or it can have the opposite effects. We'll see. The trailers have been promising.

Re: Butterfly (66,417) (66,421) by B from USA
I never said that. It is well known that Tommy didn't want to release Butterfly because of the subject matter and that he sabotaged Glitter. Mariah has made some mistakes. Her decision to barely raise her voice above a whisper during the recording of Charmbracelet, releasing Triumphant, hiring Stella, and allowing unflattering images to be uploaded to her social media accounts to name a few. Almost forgot to mention still working with KB and refusing to hire a stylist with style. Unlike you I focus on the positives.

Re: Butterfly (66,407) (66,415) by B from USA
I'm still upset that Tommy didn't properly release Butterfly. Butterfly peaked in the 20's on the Hot 100 Airplay chart and the video was in heavy rotation on MTV, VH1, and BET. If it were released after Billboard's rule change it would have been her twelfth #1. Butterfly is one of her best ballads and it's her signature song.

Re: Glitter debacle (66,397) (66,414) by B from USA
Hey, RJJ 12. I like how they tried to downplay the scandal. What goes around comes around. Ja Rule and Irv Gotti's reign ended two years later when 50 cent murdered Ja on record. Jennifer is a talented comedic actress. She's at her best in romantic comedies like Maid in Manhattan but her film career stalled a few years later as well. She recently scored a modest hit at the US box office with The Boy Next Door and her television series Shades Of Blue was renewed for a second season despite lackluster ratings and horrible reviews. Her last big hit was Get Right which she stole from Usher. Her recent hit songs were hits because of her collaborators, Benny, and AI. I haven't attended her Vegas residency but from the videos I've seen Mariah's is superior. Jennifer has the better stage costumes (wardrobe) but she's a darling of the fashion industry and has an amazing stylist. Perez Hilton said he learned from Jennifer's team that she was upset with him when he said Mariah's show was better than hers. Karma.

2017 will be Butterfly's twentieth anniversary, right? 1997-2007-2017.

Re: Empire (66,408) (66,410) by B from USA
Is it the one included on The Remixes? If so I have. I meant she should have redone her vocals on the original and released it as a single.

Butterfly (66,395) by B from USA
I hope Mariah and LA are planning to re-release Butterfly to commemorate it's twentieth anniversary next year. If they do I hope they include a disc of every remix recorded during this era, new liner notes, a disc (DVD) with the music videos and live performances during this era (Butterfly on Letterman and My All on Saturday Night Live). They could also include concert footage from the Butterfly world tour. They should have re-released Mariah Carey and Daydream but they didn't unfortunately.

Emotions (66,394) by B from USA
Mariah Carey has had us feeling emotions for twenty five years. Emotions was released twenty five years ago today. Happy Anniversary, Emotions.

Re: Empire (66,375) (66,391) by B from USA
Mariah's at her best when she writes songs like those. I'd add The One and Side Effects to the list. The One is my favorite song from Charmbracelet. I was excited when it was announced as the second single and disappointed when they decided to go with Boy (I Need You) instead. Imagine if she'd remixed The One with resung vocals.

Re: Article: Seriously, who is taking these sexy photos of Mariah? (66,379) (66,390) by B from USA
She was probably wearing panties and pasties courtesy of The House of Carey and Bulochnikov during the bathtub selfie session.

Re: Empire (66,383) (66,388) by B from USA
Rodney produced You're Mine (Eternal) which is one of Mariah's best ballads in years (however it was a poor choice as a single). If the song had been released in 2005 or 2008 it would have been a #1.

Re: Glitter debacle (66,377) (66,387) by B from USA
There are interviews on YouTube during which she discusses it. She was pissed that Irv gave Ain't It Funny to Jennifer.

Re: Does Mariah get a double-standard? (66,351) (66,372) by B from USA
Mariah looks amazing. With a great song and a high fashion video (My All) she could easily score another hit. Alas unless she fires Stella and hires the beat team money can afford she's going to have to work twice as hard.

Re: Does Mariah get a double-standard? (66,346) (66,351) by B from USA
I don't have a problem with the selfies being uploaded to her social media accounts (except the closeup). I have a problem with her make-up artist and stylist. Their aging her and aren't doing her any favors. Stella's obviously a horrible manager for allowing these unflattering images to be uploaded or leaked. She doesn't seem qualified to manage a star of Mariah's caliber. These antics and selfies aren't helping her or hurting her. I can't wait for the AP advertisements to be released so the bra out era can end.

Re: Does Mariah get a double-standard? (66,336) (66,346) by B from USA
Mariah's s sex appeal was always obvious. However, Tommy and the other execs at Columbia wanted to market her as the girl next door so they downplayed it. Once she divorced Tommy she was free to be herself.

Glitter debacle (66,330) by B from USA
Tommy sabotaged the Glitter era. Mariah was going to release the original Loverboy with the Firecraker sample as the first single and If We as the second. Glitter being a Columbia film allowed him access to the dailies and to the soundtrack. He knew Mariah had two massive hits on her hands. Knowing so he had Jennifer license the Firecracker sample and had Cory Rooney (who had worked with Mariah before) write the the album version of I'm Real. He probably played Corey the original version of Loverboy and said write Jennifer a song just like this. We all know Tommy called Ja and Irv and had them ripoff If We for the I'm Real remix. Ashanti unknowingly played a part in this. She sang the lead vocals on the demo versions of each song for Jenny to emulate. They weaved her vocals with Jennifer's. If you listen closely to these songs and the Ain't It Funny remix you can her Ashanti's vocals. She was not only exhausted from working on two movies, a soundtrack, and the end of her relationship with Luis. Obviously whoever stole her ideas and or concepts this time is a bigger star than Jennifer. I bet she was planning a surprise release for MIAMTEC but Beyonce beat her to it. The only other artist I think of is Alaniss Morisette. She re-released Jagged Little Pill with demos, new liner notes, and a live disc of her of her concerts (supposedly it also includes a DVD of the music videos released to promote the album).

Re: Vegas (66,280) (66,300) by B from USA
Vegas is horrible on the vocal cords. Take that into consideration when saying her voice sounds tired.

Vegas (66,280) by B from USA
Is Mariah going to renew her contract with Caesars? If so, I bet she'll be able to renegotiate for a bigger payday (not that she wasn't paid handsomely the first time around). She proved she can draw a national and international crowd and she delivered vocally (admittedly the first few nights of each leg were rocky but by the end she slayed). These YouTube and Instagram videos don't do her performances in Vegas justice.

Sorry. I forgot about the name calling and shade throwing. Can you share a link to the site? I'll always love you, Mimi. I had to do a refresher on his or her history. Should have done so before jumping to conclusions.

I can't. I respect you but and Mimi but you all are bullying Baby. You don't have to agree with his or her opinion but this is bullying. Something Mariah would be ashamed of. Welcome back, Baby.

Re: New music (66,218) (66,237) by B from USA
I'm also looking forward to hearing her collaborations with Crystal. She only needs one collaborator for lyrics even though she writes her best lyrics she writes them by herself.

Re: New music (66,227) (66,235) by B from USA
I agree. She's recorded hundreds of songs that have never been released. Releasing them would be a smart move. Smarter than updating #1's.
