About Bill from the UK: I love Mariah more than you do.

London Daydream Tour Attendee.

The debut (52,140) by Bill from the UK
Glad to see the album get a lot of love in its 25th year. The debut is one of my most favourite Mariah albums ever. It was so classy and every song is a complete winner. There is not a single track I skip. I agree about everybody's comments on Alone In Love, it is a beautiful track and I love its arrangement as well. Prisoner is fantastic and I would "give my all" to hear her do the song and the rap live. It's just a beautiful album and I play it probably ten times a week. Always on the record player and my iPod to and from work.

Can't Let Go / Vegas news (52,100) by Bill from the UK
I have listened to Can't Let Go probably more times than I have had hot dinners in my life. Today, whilst listening to my Emotions vinyl (sounds so good to me), for the first time in my life, I noticed the extra "you're all I know" Mariah whispers in the background in the last few choruses. How have I never heard this before? This is what is so great about her music. Decades after hearing her songs, I still notice nuances in the tracks I never had before. Does anyone else have similar stories? In other news, I was excited to read the Vegas show will have album tracks potentially performed. I think I would freak (caps) out (end caps) if she sang Prisoner live, complete with the rap. I am also really looking forward to hearing Someday and Love Takes Time again live, as she hasn't done them live since the Thanksgiving concert in 1993.

Meme Price et al (51,987) by Bill from the UK
Dear Webmaster, can it please be a rule that unless a rumour has a corresponding source, it is not posted? During the build up to MIAM being released someone kept coming on saying they had inside information about the album, and every post they made turned out to be false. It's a waste of space, clogs up the board, and is immature. On a separate note, I agree I think the tracks will be split across two discs. If there was indeed a second disc of additional material, I'd be expecting the tracks to be listed on the back.

Shelly (51,844) by Bill from the UK
Shelly, you're loved by many on this board, as Annie Wilkes in Misery said "I'm your number one fan" lol. Don't take heed to anyone targeting you for daring to post positive and excited thoughts on a fan site dedicated to your favourite artist (which is supposed to bring like minded people together). We love you, appreciate you, and adore you. They can say anything they want to say, try to bring you down, but you won't face the ground, you will run steadfastly sailing out of their reach. Pay no attention to those cock-a-doo-dee dirty birds.

May / MC1989 (51,817) by Bill from the UK
May, the album hasn't launched just yet so there may be more surprises. So far since the announcement we've had the brilliant cover reveal, news of a new single, the opportunity to get a Mariah print with the pre-order and, the best thing for me, the chance to own all her #1's on a vinyl compilation. The original #1's vinyl is very rare and expensive when it shows up for purchase. Who knows what else may come about nearer the release date - maybe the videos, or corresponding DVD of the Vegas show etc. MC1989, I agree about Fantasy. I know Mariah sees the remix as the real version of the song, but I do love the original version just as much, and it would have been nice to see it included.

Skip / Someday (51,815) by Bill from the UK
I agree Skip. As much as I love the Unplugged version of Someday, the 7" Jackswing Mix would have been a better incentive. I've always preferred it to the album version, and it was the main radio version in the UK and the version included on all the single releases. I also agree it's probably truer to the original demo of the song rather than the over produced album version.

Andrew (51,775) by Bill from the UK
You just can't stand to see her fans happy can you? You wanted to put a downer on the launch of a new era, and you succeeded. Congrats and thanks for once again spoiling the good mood of the board. I still cannot fathom why you waste your time coming here when you are not a fan of Mariah Carey. You criticise her look, her voice, her manner, her lifestyle choices, and now her music.

Why the disappointment? (51,744) by Bill from the UK
I'm saddened to read so many fans are upset with the new album. Mariah always said it was just an update of the 1998 album to include the new #1's. I wasn't even expecting a new track until she tweeted about Infinity, although of course I would have loved there to be. It's worse because everyone was so excited during the album cover reveal. I've ordered my vinyl and I'm excited for it. I guess the tracks will be remastered like on The Collection. But like others have said, it's to tie in with the residency, and I imagine will be all over the Caesar's Palace shop for purchase during her stint there.

The new album is available on vinyl (exclamation mark). This is too much.

Shelly (51,682) by Bill from the UK
Hehe thanks Shelly, I don't think I've been this excited since there was all the buzz around the release of Touch My Body. I'm excited for what else is announced today. I hope we get the track listing when the album is open for pre-orders. And yes, it took a lot for me to change my avi as I was so attached to it, but Mariah and I are entering this new era together. Out with the old lol.

Wow. Brilliant.

Long Ago (51,648) by Bill from the UK
Completely agree with you Billy. I was blasting out the track in my car the other day and thinking to myself how it was more than a hint of what was to follow. Would not have been out of place on Butterfly and still sounds stunning twenty years later. Can't believe I first heard it that long ago. See what I did there?

New album cover (51,645) by Bill from the UK
I loved what I thought was going to be the new #1's album cover which is the headshot from the E=MC2 shoot used to promote the Vegas residency, but this new cover is even better. I do love the original #1's cover but this new one looks to be equally as good (58% at time of writing lol). Love the buzz going around about it. Well done Mariah and team and good luck for the residency, I'm really excited about what the rest of 2015 has in store.

Mimi L (51,586) by Bill from the UK
I agree, for me Emancipation was her most consistently good album since Butterfly, though not to infer on the albums inbetween of course. Circles and Mine Again were great tracks. Mine Again wouldn't have been out of place on her earlier records, and Circles sounds retro yet completely up to date at the same time, it's great. Your Girl was for a long time my most favourite track on the album. I loved its simplicity, how summery it sounded, and the instrumentation. But my ultimate favourite has got to be To The Floor. I know many fans don't rate that track, but I just love it. Sounds so free and sexy. I'm debuting my new avatar (did you all miss the Reveal Bill countdown I was doing for two days?) as much as I love ABMB (it will I think always be my favourite single cover), after several years of using it I have switched to a blue filtered Emotions shot.

Mariah's new manager (51,552) by Bill from the UK
Shelly, you're wrong, she is not Mariah's new manager, she is a member of the illuminati.

Dan (51,521) by Bill from the UK
I agree. I'm hoping for a disc of the 18 #1s and another disc with new songs. Not an album's worth, but maybe 5 or so plus the demo tape from the debut would be enough for me. I also really hope the album includes AIWFCIY so it is the ultimate hits compilation. It's arguably her most well known song across the globe and is clearly her most popular.

What on earth are you talking about? Alienating JD? Where did that come from and what evidence do you have of that?

LC / Cindi (51,483) by Bill from the UK
With respect to your post LC, Cindi is one of the top publicists in the industry and as the CEO of the largest publicity company in the world, she clearly knows her business. What you say about Mariah's bad moments spreading like wild fire on social media is true, but all a publicist can do in that situation is issue some kind of statement, or advise Mariah to, if appropriate. What you say about remedying the situation with interviews etc. is more the job of a manager. If my memory serves me correctly, Mariah ditched Cindi after Glitter and then teamed up with LA for a great comeback. It looks like the same sequence of events again.

Nostalgia part 3 (51,454) by Bill from the UK
So it's now Christmas 1994. Everybody at school is talking about AIWFCIY, and how good it is, but I haven't heard it yet. Due to the string of ballads released from Music Box, I assumed it would be a slow song. I switched the radio on one night after school, and it came in at the bridge to AIWFCIY, although I didn't realise it was Mariah at the time. I remember thinking that the "hey yeah" ad-lib after the "everyone is singing" line sounded very Mariah-y, and then when the final verse ended and she sang the "all I want for Christmas" part, I felt my blood run cold and I jammed my finger on the "record" button (I always kept an emergency blank tape in the stereo), not caring what I was taping over. I stayed up all night switching stations trying to catch a glimpse of it again, and thankfully heard it twice more across different shows and was able to record it. I remember coming home from school one night and my lovely mum had bought me the cassette single as a surprise, I was over the moon, and loved the black and white picture of her in the sleigh. Then during the last few days of school before the Christmas break, one of my friends brought the album in and I spent the whole day listening to it on my Walkman, avoiding the festivities. The teacher came up to me and asked if I was okay, and I said I was perfectly happy sitting by myself listening to the album. Finally got my copy for Christmas (on Boxing Day from my aunt and uncle).

More nostalgia (51,437) by Bill from the UK
So it's autumn 1994. It's the October half term holiday and I'm "cat sitting" for my aunt with my nan. The only thing I pack is my Walkman and Mariah tapes. At this point I have managed to buy through pocket money both Emotions and the Unplugged album on cassette and have been playing them non stop, as well as buying the AYNAF single. Even though both AYNAF and Music Box were on the album, I wanted to buy the single because I loved the cover (and remember being surprised at her straightened hair lol). Each time I was in town, I used to go into the record shops and hold and stare at the debut album and try to remember its track listing. As a reward for cat sitting, my mum bought me the debut album. I remember her calling me whilst at my aunt's to check she had the right one. I could not wait to get home and listen to it. When I did, to my disappointment, it played the Emotions album, it was a faulty cassette. We took it back that weekend (if only I had the foresight to hang on it to as a collector's item. ) and I finally got to hear the album when it was replaced. It was agony having the lyrics there but no songs haha. Once home I sat in the back room of my house and played the debut album to myself, reading the lyrics and just loving the gold background the track listing had, thinking it was so beautiful. Got a couple more stories to share with you all, I love reading everyone's stories.

Kate / nostalgia (51,432) by Bill from the UK
I was born in the early 80s so I got to live through Mariah's career as it was taking off in Europe, it's what is so great about being a 90s kid. I remember I first saw her on the MTV chart countdown my older brother used to watch. I was 9, almost 10, when I walked into the room and was standing there dumbfounded at this beautiful woman running around a field singing about her dream lover. Literally frozen to the spot as I tried to take in her looks and her voice and the song. Something clicked in me then and I just knew she was special and would be an important part of my life. When Without You was released, I was a fan. The cassette single was the first Mariah item I ever bought (I wanted to buy the singles of Hero and Dreamlover but I had no pocket money left). I loved that sepia cover and loved Never Forget You as much as Without You. I then bought Music Box and used to listen to it in bed on my Walkman after lights out, learning the lyrics, gazing at her other album covers that were in the inlay and wanting to hear them so badly lol. I've got more stories which I will post later. Great topic.
