Hey Edward with a w. Why do you keep reading my posts when I don't even bother reading yours? Don't waist your time. I'm not waisting mine.

Re: Glitter era vs now (Glitter era still had vocals) (76,444) (76,450) by Edouard from France
You are wrong. Mariah has had many great performances since she started her Vegas residency. That's a fact. During the Glitter era a lot of people complained about her voice and her lack of energy. To me her "Hero" tribute is her best live version of the song (the most heartfelt), but many here don't like it. I believe Mariah has sung it better in term of technique during her Vegas residency.

Legacy, storytelling and politics (76,449) by Edouard from France
Mariah's dream has always been to have a long career. She's been saying it since her first interviews. I believe Mariah is doing everything she can to honor this wish but the industry isn't working with her. Never really has. I think Mariah has always had to work harder than most. I think Mariah's storytelling implies having obstacles to overcome (poverty, racism, controlling and violent husband, sexism, etc.) and the media is particularly hungry for that. they love to tear a successful artist (especially women) down. And we eat it up. Mariah knows what she's doing. She always has. A lot of people here think all she's ever done is music. Mariah is a effing politician, she's had to stand up for herself countless time inside and out of the industry. I think she's taking full control of everything now. She might be clumsy in her choices but at list she's not a puppet.

Well, the demanding promotional tour actually put her in the hospital.

Mark Suddack (76,435) by Edouard from France
I came accross this video on YouTube and Mark Suddack seemed to be in the picture while Mariah started E=MC2 promotional tour. Interesting?

Sent from up above (76,434) by Edouard from France
I wander when did Mariah write this song. Musically it is so 90's. The song reminds me [of] "Woooops now" by Janet and "Say you'll be there" by the Spice Girls, but obviously Mariah wrote it first. [The] other uptempo on the album sound very late 8's to me where as "Sent from up above" is timeless. I would say it's probably [one] of her most timeless uptempo along with Dreamlover, Fantasy (the remix with ODB), ABMBB, Honey, Breakdown, ILT, TMB, [and] #Beautiful.

Re: Just an older fan (76,255) (76,266) by Edouard from France
Totally agree with you. The board tends to be depressing because those who write the most are the same who keep judging Mariah as well as each other every 5 seconds. It is boring. It is tiring.
Your post is a breath of fresh air. Thank you.

Mariah and Madonna (76,152) by Edouard from France
I believe they would be good friends now. They have both become legends and moguls of their respective empires. Mariah is not just a singer, not just a product. She is buisness savy and I admire her for all the things she has achieved and the things to come.

Re: Brett resurfaces (76,094) (76,103) by Edouard from France
Well I think Mariah will explain eventually when she promotes her next album. I find it weird, yes, but also I believe she's making a statement: they were almost married, he effed up and she kept the diamond because why wouldn't she. By keeping it she says: you don't own me, the ring is beautiful and I have no problem seperating the gift from what we had.

C'mon people let's stop making our lives so miserable by consistantly harassing, discriminating and insulting each other. Let's be intelligent and respectful. Thank you.

Re: Mariah lost the plot after Memoirs (75,871) (75,873) by Edouard from France
Actually Mariah has been using controversy to her advantage in many of her lead-off singles since Honey. Honey was the escape from the mention, Heartbreaker was the collaboration with a rapper on the main version which at the time was very bold for an artist like Mariah, Loverboy was a big scandal in its own way and the melody of the verses as well as Da Brat's are a clear shot at gelloe, TTR was her way of saying I'm still here even after Glitter, ILT and WBT is a party record "them chickens is ash and I'm lotion" and a shot at Tommy Mottola. Touch My Body and #Beautiful don't surf on the scadal wave. When you think about it Drealover uses a sample from Emotions (the group) and people accused her of plagia when she did Emotions because they said she used the Best Of My Love song (from the group Emotions). In reality it's more an hommage than anything.

Re: Battle of the albums round 1 (75,850) (75,851) by Edouard from France
I totally agree. "The First Album" has more hits, and even the songs like "Sent from up above" and "There's got to be a way" are radio friendly and could have been hits. Emotions is more cohesive, almost like a concept album. I think I prefer Emotions as an album because it's less instant and obvious, but the first album is just so good as an introduction .

Attempt at explaining the choice of Stella (75,802) by Edouard from France
We all know Mariah is a smart woman. She must be very smart to navigate through the industry for so long and to fight (in her own way) the system. In a way she's very political, so to speak. I think she chose Stella as a manager because she recognize the woman was very driven and was willing to build a career for herself and her daughters. I guess Mariah's management before Stella didn't see the point in pushing Mariah's career further. They were on a payroll to do nothing. Now, I don't agree with every Mariah does in terms of fragrance, beauty salon and stuff. I'm only interested in her talent as a musician and actress, the mediums she chose to express herself. Yet, when you think about it Mariah wanted to be a beautician at one point so the beauty salon does make sense to her. I can imagine that. I also understand that today's pop acts have to branch out and expand their horizon. It's not just about the music anymore if you want to stay relevant. I think by choosing someone eager to make it, thirsty some might say, Mariah actually made a strong bold and smart choice to ensure her staying in the public conscience and getting us ready for new music.

Re: Martyn, we'll miss you (75,646) (75,647) by Edouard from France
I did not know Martyn personally but his passing is very sad nonetheless. Someone evoked the idea of not posting for a few days out of respect for Martyn. I think it's a good idea. Sure, life goes on, but it's also okay to take some time to reflect and to pay attention to what really matters. Life, love, peace.

Re: Celine Dion Billboard Awards (75,508) (75,533) by Edouard from France
Hey B. I like your posts and how intelligent they are. However I don't agree with you about Celine's performance. I thought it was very good and to me she took the schmaltz out of the song with her new voice and melody choices. Damaged is a strong word. [...] has changed, evolved, just like Mariah's. It doesn't mean it's not as good. [...] are amazing singers who know their voice and craft. [..] can adapt and develop new techniques. I believe we have to welcome those changes and akwoledge that what they do (what they have been doin' for the last 3 decades) is just amazing.

Hero (75,294) by Edouard from France
I believe Mariah made it an iconic song by singing it over and over over the years, by rearranging it and by making it truly her own. had not she chosen to do that, the song would have been a number 1 song and that's it. Time and her determination to truly believe her own words one day made it a masterpiece. My favorite version of the song is the live version "A tribute to Heroes".

This songs basically saved my life. It has helped me a lot, and on so many levels. That's the power of Mariah, always and forever: she's able to translate her battles into songs and give her listeners the strengh to do the same. I love this woman.

Hey Terna can you elaborate on your last remark? Do you mean that he would have been fired because of MC's deal? Or did he leave because he didn't want to me associated with Mariah? I believe they are close. Do you think he could take the direction of Butterfly MC Records?
