Queen of Christmas (112,510)
by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
| |
|
|
Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and Aretha Franklin never tried to trademark those titles. That's the difference. If Mariah was allowed to trademark the phrase "queen of Christmas", then nobody could use that phrase anymore. She deserved all the backlash she got.

You're probably right but it would need to be trademarked for the movie I have in my head.
On a side note: Why was it okay for Michael Jackson to be the King of Pop and for Elvis to be the King of Rock and Roll and Aretha to be the Queen of Soul? I feel like there's a lot of jealousy geared towards Mariah. I feel like that's part of the reason she doesn't have as many awards as she should.

Name as a brand (112,488)
by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
| |
|
|
Marilyn Monroe's likeness is licensed through her estate, which is owned by Authentic Brands Group (ABG). Her name is used as a brand name for a wide variety of products and collaborations, including cosmetics, apparel, and accessories from different companies, such as the makeup line born from Stefano Cigana and collaborations with brands like DIFF Eyewear and Max Factor.

Maybe she should ask Shaquille O''Neal about how they use Marilyn Monroe's name for everything. One Christmas my mom got me some underwear that were "Marilyn Monroe" since she knows I like her. The only thing "Marilyn Monroe" about the underwear was the label because how would anyone know what kind of underwear she wore? One of them was cheetah print, one was black transparent with some lace, and the third was nude colored. I mean I guess she could have worn underwear like that but I know my mom bought them for the picture of Marilyn Monroe on the label. If it had any other label they wouldn't have been as special, I think.

Don't take it political (112,287)

I think enough has now been said about the new "It's Time" video and the political backlash it's generating. This discussion gets out of hand, resulting in swearing and other unwanted behavior. That's why I've decided to stop posting on this topic.

Here in America people have awaken to the fact that the term "conspiracy theory" was introduced to the lexicon right after JFK was assassinated. They shot a sitting president on broad daylight and then launched operation mocking bird meaning the CIA hiring a bunch of journalists to control public perception and gaslight the citizens about what happened.

Reality is MJ's estate was magically stolen from him via fake signature right before his passing, which by the way, him and Mariah happen to be in the same music label. Thank you for proving my point about how shady these companies can be.
If you still can't connect the dots in this day of age, where it's not a secret evil runs Hollywood, where celebrities are openly talking about their experiences because you are scared for the life of you, to be labeled silly little names then you are simply behind. And I can't help that. Have a chill day, Bill.

Not true. In the last 20 years, they had 7 hits. Here are the stats: 2007: "Blessed & Highly Favored (Live)" #1 2007: "Livin'" #2 2007: "You Brought the Sunshine (Live)" #11 2015: "Dance" (3 Winans Brothers featuring the Clark Sisters) #7 2017: "Hey Devil!" (CeCe Winans featuring the Clark Sisters) #22 2019: "Victory" #6 2020: "His Love" (featuring Snoop Dogg) #11 Is it so hard to do some research before making false claims?

Is he still on this board? I used to be active on here like the better part of a decade ago and I remember a gentleman named Andrew was also active on here and he had the distinction of slating and despising pretty much everything MC made post Butterfly and I'd just be curious to know if he still holds that position. It's also quite possible that he has long since jumped ship.

I'm glad you noticed. There's a reason for that insult. "Folks just need to stop feeling like it's their duty to set others straight, to reprimand" is direct hit on me from Stacey. Then she pretends to be well-meaning right after the diss. The one you're defending actually engages on pretending to be a saint, so it turns out you actually got fooled.

1.) Boy (I need you) has grown on me over the years. 2.) I'm not super optimistic about MC16 being a success. (But I'm pretty sure I'll personally enjoy it.) 3.) I think she should drop Hero and We Belong Together from performances like the Summertime Ball and instead do album tracks that should have been hits. 4.) I know Touch My Body is super popular but I don't really like it. My young coworker (born in '99) asked me to make her a MC playlist. A few months later she came back and reported she only liked Fantasy, Honey, and Touch my Body. 5.) I really like Did I Do That? I think it's catchy and kinda funny.

Which one was a bigger radio and sales hit? I ask the question because I feel Fantasy was because it was the first time a sample made an original song like Genius of Love popular among younger listeners in 1995. Secondly, Nostradomus on X posted today that the second single is a pop/club combination with traces of hip hop and funk. Isn't that what Fantasy was for Daydream?

Wow, I really could not believe what I was reading in these messages on this message board. [censored] Mariah fans picking Mariah apart with a fine tooth comb, trying to compare her to what she was in the 90's, trying to make Mariah the image you want her to be or think what she should be. [censored] I find it really sad that you feel that Mariah has to be perfect [censored] or that her speech wasn't as good as you wanted it to be. Mariah has accomplished more in her life than 99.9% of people on this planet, she doesn't need to satisfy all your [censored] issues as well.
I remember coming to this message board all the time and remember how good and fun it was to chat with the fans and checking out the discography (I see that's gone), Eric (if you still run this site) what happened?
[censored] And before you [censored] fans come at me with "I'm just being honest and saying what I think", yeah well sometimes you're unwanted opinion just makes you look like a [censored]. And also no, don't try give me that "I've been a fan since" rubbish either, before you consider yourself a fan, google what the word fanatic means. [censored]
