Is HFIA her ILTY? (111,880)
by Will from England

Dropped three singles that had a variety of success on different charts, 1 quality video, did a healthy and packed promo run of radio and a variety podcast interviews both in US and UK, some TV appearances of varying quality, 1 stunning magazine cover, a few awards picked up along the way (1 of which for the current project), performed at some high profile festivals and concerts at various locations across the globe (Sandringham had the huge QR code for everyone to scan to save the album on Spotify) on the lead up which resulted in mostly positive press, more TV appearances, in-person album signings for the fans, new merch in support of the album, a few variants of the album available for purchase, a solid roll out of the album (right from the teaser to the album title and art reveal) on social media, live snippets recorded and posted on social media in the week leading up to launch. All of which resulted in positive album reviews and a decent placements on various BB album charts. I think she did enough.

HFIA (111,593)
by Max from Germany

After a few days, I'd like to share my thoughts on HFIA: The album is a masterpiece. There isn't a single song I dislike or skip. Mariah touched me deeply with this album, like hardly any other album before. It's heavy shit in places, and I can't listen to it on repeat. But I do wonder why? This album has so much depth and such great lyrics, and is unlike anything that's come out since Butterfly. Why did MC only release such a masterpiece now? The album is exactly what many fans have been wanting for years. I also like the promo and the interviews she gives. Why did we have to wait so long for HFIA? The promo for the last few albums was rather more restrained. Such an effort was only made when MC released a new perfume or had completely over-the-top advertising for this diet brand. All the Lambs were in high anticipation and then were disappointed. We got MIAMTEC and Caution. E=MC2 also seems like a rigamarole next to HFIA. Mariah seems reformed. But why is MC making such an effort this time? Because she cares about HFIA itself. This time it's about MC, not about music. Mariah seems to have been through a lot in recent years and is therefore delivering brilliant music. It's similar to the Sony days: Mariah was under pressure from Tommy, and she delivered.

I really don't want to step on your feathers or anything but being 4 in 1994, you can't appreciate this work of art because you didn't grow up with her through Butterfly era and teen years for example and similar so I get that your ear isn't developed for this.

First impression (111,490)
by Max from Germany
| |
|
|
My first impression: Mariah has made an album in which she has embarked on a new musical direction. Her voice is very different in quality and a bit above the level of Caution. So far, I like every song except "Play This Song". I'm impressed by "Nothing is Impossible". The solo version of "Sugar Sweet" is one of the best songs of the album. I don't like the full version of "Here For It All" as much. The snippets sounded better. "Mi" is also very good, as is "My Love". My absolute favorite: "In Your Feelings". "Jesus I Do" is a bit lame. "Confetti and Campagne" is also interesting in conjunction with "I Don't Allow It".

The next single (111,291)
by Max from Germany
| |

I think Mi is just an intro and not a full song. MC said at Apple that there are 10-11 songs on the album. Maybe she just sees Mi as an overture.

I think the next single will be "Mi" or "Play this song". There's a snippet that was released on YouTube and on Mariah's Insta. It sounds interesting and very Mariah.

Article: Mariah Carey unveils "Here for It All" track list (110,770)

The tracklist for Asia, including the bonus tracks, is also known. Track 11 is Type Dangerous Snake Remix, and now things get exciting: Track 12 is Sugar Sweet featuring Sheesea and Kehlani. Does that mean that track 4 on the album is Sugar Sweet MC only? I really hope so.

I "really really" hope the album version is just her. It would be like having another new unheard song to listen to on the album. Problem is, when she was releasing the track titles in her story one by one, it clearly said Sugar Sweet featuring Shensea and Kehlani. I suppose we need to wait a month to know but I wouldn't put it past team MC to have messed up and missed them out. I'm hoping they messed up in the stories and not the tracklist post. Billboard is just reporting what they saw posted I think.

German interview (110,457)
by Max from Germany
| |
|
|
A German newspaper just ran a bizarre interview with Mariah. Something's seriously wrong with her. Here's the final paragraph:
After our conversation, Mariah Carey is formally escorted home; her assistant leads her to the private area of her suite. It seems as if she even has to take the singer to bed. Her managers ask me if she's even spoken; they, too, have apparently given up trying to control the diva. Carey shuffles up the spiral staircase in slow motion. We wave to each other one last time; she says she enjoyed it, "very much".

Amazon CD pre-order (109,908)
by Max from Germany
| |

|
The days of bonus tracks are over. I mean, everything's digital these days anyway. What's the point? Most listeners don't have CD players anymore. If Amazon or JP have exclusive tracks on HFIA, then please use familiar material and not new songs. I also hope that we actually get 11 new tracks and that there isn't "Yes, and" or "Made for Me" on the album. I'm really happy that it's happening and wish MC all the best for the album. Sugar Sweet keeps getting stuck in my head and I'm also excited for the title track. There was The Voice again.

There's an Amazon Exclusive CD and a regular CD version for HFIA. I wonder if the Amazon Exclusive will have an additional track or two.

I'm just curious what Mariah ballads mean. Ballads before WBT or WBT clones?

I would not say that was earth shattering. I liked the vid but it didn't live up to the hype. Maybe there will be a remix with higher hopes than Mr. Beast.

Type Dangerous (109,075)

Masterpiece. Absolutely new, no screams, no whispers, straight to the point. I love the beat and especially the lyrics: first a self-absorbed description of her fast-paced life. Then MC remembers that she wanted to sing about boys. And then the ironic "I like them dangerous." Sing Sing, Evil King, Sex and the City. Again masterpiece.

Spotify has a pre save for December 6th. I don't want to get too excited but since this is on Spotify it can't be just a new cover. Fingers crossed for a bonus track at least.
