Brenda K on relationship with MC (113,757)
by Lambi from USA

MC saying "What do you want me to do? Be indebted to you for the rest of my life?" is accurate. Like I said Mariah is smart. Brenda introducing an ultimatum was weird. "If I get you a record deal, you're gonna buy me my first house, right?" Then making her sign it, "I Mariah Carey will buy Brenda a house if I get famous" she's framing it in jest now but you don't formalize a "joke" with a written agreement unless you're hoping it holds weight later. It's so deeply manipulative.
She's another Morgan, "There wouldn't be a Mariah Carey if it wasn't for me." They're those type of people who help because they know there's a big trade. None of it was ever really from the heart because the entitlement to Mariah's wealth thereafter is ridiculous.

Jesus I Do is currently #8 on Billboard Gospel Airplay (up from #10) and #20 (up from #24) on Billboard Hot Gospel Songs, of which it originally peaked at #5 a few months ago, but is now climbing up that chart again. Congratulations Mimi.

Glitter - my wish for MC in 2026 (113,507)
by Belinda Vasquez from USA

I always said that Glitter would have worked absolutely fine as a BET Original Film or an MTV Original Presentation, as a "Made For TV" movie. I am almost certain if it was marketed that way instead of in theaters, it would've received mixed to positive reviews, rather than negative. Anybody else agree?

Glitter - my wish for MC in 2026 (113,502)

The film had such a limited release due to Mariah's health problems in 2001 that I think very few people saw it. So I don't really trust the reviews entirely. I don't think it's great film by any stretch, but it's certainly on par with "Mahogany" or "The Bodyguard" as a vehicle for a recording artist branching out into the movies. Both of those films rece. It plays like a popcorn film, not a film that would be in the running for an Best Picture Oscar or Golden Globe.
I think the critics were out to get Mariah because she had been so successful as a recording artist in the 1990s and because people are generally skeptical of recording artists branching out in the movies and vice versa. There were a lot of factors and delays working against Mariah. Remember, "Heartbreaker" was supposed to be the lead single rather than "Loverboy", and "Loverboy" was further delayed due to the sabotage.

Jesus I Do (#11 Gospel) / Nothing Is Impossible (#25 Adult Pop) Billboard (113,372)
by Belinda Vasquez from USA

I'm not quite sure why nobody is talking about this on the board right now, but currently on Billboard, Jesus I Do has reached a new peak of #11 on Billboard Gospel Airplay and Nothing Is Impossible continues to climb this week at #25 on Billboard Adult Pop Airplay.
Also, the fact that Jesus I Do was nominated for two NAACP Awards last month and nobody discussed that on this board either nor a news post about it is disheartening.
