Jesus I Do (111,793)
by Chicago Lamb from USA
| |
|
|
I really Love this song. I'm hoping the label pushes it at Gospel Radio. Reportedly it's The Clark Sisters' first song to chart in 20 years. Dare I dream of a Grammy performance for the song?

I predict Jesus I Do will be #1on the Billboard Gospel chart in 3 weeks. Also, I predict MC and The Clark Sisters will perform Jesus I Do at one of her Christmastime Las Vegas shows in December. The song is about to take off this month.

Play this Song (111,333)
by Chicago Lamb from USA
| |

According to reports, Mariah's next single, "Play This Song" featuring Anderson .Paak, is set to drop September 26 - the same day as her new album Here For It All. The video is already filmed, and sources say it's big-budget and stunning. Fans can expect Mariah looking amazing, with a fun R&B groove that's perfect to dance to.

Ariana gushed, referring to Mariah as "mother", bowed before her, saying she is her reason for everything. It was cute and well deserved especially on national TV.

Congratulations MC. I loved the speech and her little plug for her album at the end. Smart move because the VMAs had huge viewership last night. Also so glad that Ariana gave the award to Mariah. Finally someone currently and at the top of their game giving Mariah an award. I saw the speech but anyone has a link to Ariana presenting it? What did she say? I would love it if someone can provide a link or tell me what she said to announce Mariah.

Sugar Sweet being scrapped (110,700)
by Chicago Lamb from USA
| |
|
|
I saw something on social media saying Maria's label was scrapping Sugar Sweet as Type Dangerous rises on the charts. The plan is to release another single in its place. Has anyone seen anything with regards to this idea? It reminds me of when Gaga's team pulled "Eh, Eh, nothing I can say" and quickly released Love Game. Hoping for the same magic

The evolution of Mariah Carey's accent (110,142)
by Chicago Lamb from USA
| |
|
|
MC really didn't have a NY accent. If you've heard it, she was doing it for fun (and it's spot on). Her mother Patricia is from the mid-west, and that's why MC doesn't really have that east-coast thingy.

The evolution of Mariah Carey (110,137)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
Have you noticed a change in MC's speaking voice in the past 2 months during interviews? I wonder if it is because she is just getting older or a direct correlation to her vocal decline. Her speaking voice is very raspy now and she has lost her New York accent. I noticed it first during the Apple interview when she said 11 or 12. And I noticed it again during the New Music Daily interview.

Mariah Carey had 50-11 nose jobs but still insecure about "bad side"? (108,904)
by Chicago Lamb from USA
| |
|
|
I love your post. Any alleged nose-jobs would not have affected her singing ability. However, the tone would have changed as evidenced on Daydream and after Glitter. As brilliant Mariah was a technician with her voice, I don't think she put in the hard work (actual practice) that could have kept it up over a 35+ year career. Her tone was slightly different from album to album anyway. But who knows, there are undoubtedly medical issues we are unaware of, doctors advising her what to do etc. #MCForever

Mariah Carey had 50-11 nose jobs but still insecure about "bad side"? (108,901)
by Lambi from USA

Wait what? Daydream era actually sounded so agile. Vision Of Love in Madison Square 95 Garden for reference. Daydream I'd say, was Mariah's most ethereal. Perfect balance of full voice and head voice while also being easily palatable. She mastered singing "straight" but also placed her runs just right (ultimate reference: Open Arms). Butterfly's songs were overdone with runs (first time she was allowed to do so) with the exception of My All and Close My Eyes. Tommy was actually right with making her sing straight. The more plain language, the more the masses eat it up. Something magical also happened with Mariah's tone during Daydream. I used to never put her above Whitney but when Daydream was released, it was clear who had the better voice. Her high belts in Fantasy, One Sweet Day and Always Be My Baby just cannot be duplicated. No one to this day can match the brightness of her resonance. It sounded so beautiful. Perfect mix of Music Box and Butterfly. The full potential of Mariah's voice was realized during Daydream. It was her response to Whitney's Bodyguard success so she also had to step up her songwriting. Underneath The Stars still stands as one of her best works.

Mariah will have her moment. Many great artists wait years for induction. Perhaps when the debut is certified Diamond, AIWFC goes triple Diamond... who knows. Rolling Stone hits the right note on this subject.

Crystal ball prediction (107,868)
by Chicago Lamb from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah's AIWFC goes #1 every year, the rest of the decade and every now/then beyond. Billboard honors her with a 3rd "Song of the Decade" for 2020's. She'll be the only artist in our lifetimes to have 3, OSD, WBT, and AIWFC. In addition, more artist weeks at #1 than anyone could touch for generations. How many weeks can AIWFC touch #1? A possible 18th this year. But beyond it's anyone guess. 30, 40, 50?

Just a Merry Christmas thought (107,219)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|

Do you think a Merry Christmas duets album could be one of MC's surprises to celebrate the anniversary? She could use her original vocals and just have other artists sing on the songs. I think it could work and make the album sell huge this holiday season. It could feature Post Malone, Brandy, Trey Songz, Kelly Clarkson, The Clark Sisters, Charlie Wilson, and Chris Brown. Just a thought this Sunday. I trust MC is going to celebrate the anniversary in a huge way.

I disagree. Even with the lack of resonant belts and some imperfections, she really went there vocally and took some risks. She started to dive into the other parts of her voice to sing the song. I love all the passion she poured into this performance. One of my favorites. Shakiness and all. Here is the full Love Takes Time performance that night.

The NARM Performance is shaky. She's super nervous, trying to add more notes and runs than the studio recording. If any of the NARM footage was great, it would have been used in her "The First Vision" VHS. I don't mind its been locked away but of course appreciate it 33 years later.

Vocals getting better (104,434)
by Chicago Lamb from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah isn't fastidious about exercising her voice. Regimented vocal exercise is considered bleak. She starts the first show dry and then as shows continue, she warms up. She recorded much of TEOM after the Charmbracelet tour as she said it left her voice in a good place. As a teenager, she respected opera but it was too restrictive, confining. She wanted to be freer with her voice.
