Mariah Carey's boyfriend Bryan Tanaka is not demanding more money to appear on her reality show, "Mariah's World", despite a factually inaccurate report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this claim. We're told it's 100 percent untrue.
"Mariah Carey's boy toy demands big bucks to continue reality romance," blares the headline of a new RadarOnline report. According to the website, "Tanaka has been a permanent fixture on Carey's E! reality series, but he's no longer satisfied getting just one payday as her dancer and so-called 'creative director'." The outlet quotes a so-called "insider" telling the equally unreliable Heat magazine, "When Stella, Mariah's manager, asked Bryan to be part of the show and fawn over Mariah, Bryan was happy to do so in exchange for the free publicity and the career boost, but now that he's had a taste of fame and seen how keen Mariah's team are to maintain the right image, he's playing hardball."
The alleged "insider" further contends that Tanaka feels he deserves a pay increase of "between $15,000 and $25,000 per episode, with bonuses for media appearances and interviews". The misguided or possibly made-up source goes on to claim, "Mariah wants to show her fans she's happy with a hot dancer falling at her feet, but Bryan's asking for a lot of money." "It's caused some tension between them," adds the questionable "insider".
Of course, when a webloid mentions someone's "playing hardball", there's always the chance for it to strike out. And that's exactly what RadarOnline has done. In fact, since the site mentioned Carey's manager, Stella Bulochnikov, Gossip Cop decided to ask her directly about Tanaka's alleged demand for a raise. We're exclusively told, "The story is bulls**t." Carey's manager rather importantly notes, "We aren't even negotiating for a second season," and stresses "Mariah's World" was "always an eight-part event".
