Mariah Carey performs at the amfAR Cannes Gala 2019

Mariah Carey turned heads as she took to the stage at amfAR's 26th Cinema Against AIDS Gala during the 72nd annual Cannes Film Festival on Thursday. The pop diva, 49, put on an eye-popping display as she poured her curves into a cleavage-baring black gown as she entertained the crowds at the star-studded event.

The star oozed glamour in the form-fitting number, after skipping the red carpet for the glittering bash. The black dress featured an intricate glitter pattern and sheer sleeves, as well as a plunging necklace. The We Belong Together hitmaker amped up the glamour as she draped herself in glittering jewells including a huge statement diamond necklace, drop earrings and several rings.

Mariah's honey blonde tresses were styled into a poker straight 'do, while she accentuated her features with a rich palette of make-up. The singer was in good company at the event, with Dua Lipa, Tom Jones and The Struts also taking to the stage. The annual extravaganza aims to raise money for amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, and is one of the world’s most successful benefit events.

The bash is always one of the most coveted ticket in town during the Cannes International Film Festival. To date, the star-studded event has raised more than $220 million for amfAR’s life-saving research programs and has helped keep the fight against AIDS in the global media spotlight.

Mariah's appearance came as she also won an Ivor Novello award in the annual ceremony, held at London's Grosvenor House on Thursday. The hitmaker, who was unable to attend the event, said in a pre-recorded message: "I rarely get acknowledged for my songwriting, which is the core of who I am, so I thank you so much for this incredible, incredible honour."

She added: "Being in this industry and winning this as a female in music as well... I feel like just the acknowledgment is so much that it is hard for me to even express that, but I hope that you can understand that his is sincere."

Mariah is set to head to London to play three night's at the Royal Albert Hall starting from Saturday.
