Mariah Carey is set to announce Australian tour

Mariah Carey is poised to make a triumphant return to Australian stages in 2025, marking her first tour Down Under in over a decade. Daily Mail Australia can reveal that the 56-year-old pop star will play shows in Sydney and Melbourne later this year.

The pop icon is bringing her Celebration of Mimi tour, commemorating the 20th anniversary of her acclaimed 2005 album The Emancipation of Mimi, to international audiences, with Australian dates expected to be announced soon.

"Mariah has been eager to reconnect with her Australian fans," an entertainment promoter told Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday. "The Celebration of Mimi tour is the perfect opportunity to do so, and plans are underway to include Australia in the tour itinerary later this year."

Mariah recently teased fans with an Instagram video featuring an Australian flag and kangaroos marked on a calendar, hinting at upcoming tour dates in the country. This follows the cancellation of her planned 2018 Australian tour due to a "scheduling conflict".

Adding to the excitement, there are rumours Carey may headline the popular Fridayz Live festival alongside Pitbull. The rapper has experienced a resurgence in popularity in 2025, with viral videos showing thousands of fans wearing bald caps at his recent sold-out European and US concerts.

While official dates and venues are yet to be confirmed, fans are encouraged to stay tuned for announcements. Tickets are expected to sell quickly once released, given Carey's enduring popularity and the anticipation surrounding her return to Australian stages.

Acknowledging the milestone anniversary on social media last week, Mariah wrote to her 14 million Instagram followers: "Happy 'Mimi' anniversary!! I’m excited to celebrate this one with you." A special edition 20th anniversary iteration of the LP will be released on May 30.

Mariah added in her Instagram caption, "While working on Mimi20, I got to relive all the memories from this pivotal moment in my personal and professional life. This album has some of my biggest hits to date, as well as some personal favourites that are very special to me. Let me know what your favourite Mimi lyric is and stay tuned for more surprises yet to come! Love, MC."

In a video shared by Spotify days ago, Mariah stated, "The Emancipation of Mimi represents an incredible part of my life - obviously the music and the songs and just where it took me as an artist and as a person."

She named Fly Like A Bird as one of her favourite tracks from the album, calling it "the vocal take that I'm most proud of". "It was such a strong message that I was kind of writing to God, to myself, to my fans. It still feels that way to me," Mariah said of the soft and uplifting R&B tune.

The album went on to sell 10 million albums worldwide, with six million purchased in the United States.

She's touring a hell of a lot. Does she really need the money that bad? Time to strip back Mimi.

MC is becoming just a touring queen who goes on these mini tours without a new album to support her shows. I don't want to hear her sing Emotions and Hero in 2025. If she can record new vocals for a backing track, why can't she spend three-six months working her studio magic for a new album?
