As Mariah Carey would say, "It's time!" The holidays are now well underway, and the singer - the undisputed queen of Christmas, thanks to her endless Christmas bops - is ringing in the season with an annual family trip to Aspen, Colorado. What better way to get festive than with a little bit of skiing (and, more importantly, some cozy après-ski drinks)?
Yesterday, Carey was also spotted doing a little bit of shopping downtown, perhaps to get some last-minute Christmas gifts - and she sported a perfect thematic outfit for the occasion. In fact, her red and white ensemble was giving high-fashion Mrs. Claus.
Forget Santa Claus is coming to town: Carey hit the town in a red sweater dress, white Chanel beanie and gloves, and a pair of shearing-lined below-the-knee boots. (Leave it to her to find snow boots with a heel.) Around her neck, a diamond necklace also read "MC" - because it would not be a Mariah Carey look without some glamorous diamonds.
Now, on anyone else, this look could read as costumey, perhaps even cheesy; But on Carey, it just seems right. After all, her hits like "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and "Oh Santa!" continue to dominate the radio waves this entire month— - so she has every right to cosplay as Mrs. Claus! If she had one of those mall photo-op stations like Santa does, we would happily pay every last dollar to get a picture with her.
