Pixie Lott sobbed when she met Mariah Carey. The 19-year-old British pop star shot to fame last year when her debut single Mama Do enjoyed success around the world. She is still struggling to come to terms with her newfound fame, and feels extremely overwhelmed when she meets other celebrities.
"The most awesome star I've met is Mariah Carey. I've grown up listening to her albums, I was obsessed with her early stuff and I was just really overwhelmed," Pixie said. "I welled up because I was so emotional. We spoke really briefly. She just said, 'Hi.' I told her I was a really big fan and she had to go. It was a quick encounter."
Pixie also finds it difficult to cope with being hounded by photographers. She has recently developed a cunning strategy to stop them following her, and says it's as simple as having the courtesy to smile and pose for a few pictures every time she is approached.
"The paparazzi are not too bad. Sometimes it's really exciting and other times it's just annoying," she told the British edition of OK! magazine. "I'm generally just a smiley person anyway. The best thing to do it to let them take a picture because if they don't they just keep following you." (Musicrooms)
