About Musti from UK:

Re: Never thought I'd say this... (64,120) (64,129) by Musti from UK
I wouldn't say either Orlando or BML are strictly political matters. These problems are probably best fixed by raising social awareness and changing public opinion. I'd understand why practically no celebrity has commented on the plenty terrorist attacks around the world since last year (Belgium, France, Turkey, etc.) as they have deeper political implications. But especially considering that she identifies more with being black and that a big chunk of her core fanbase is gay men, it's almost her duty to take part in both causes. Many decent celebrities go way beyond their day jobs on social media to make their accounts more appealing, like actively supporting charities, or doing talk shows with other celebrities (like Mary J), or blogging about practically everything (like Brandy), whereas Mariah shamelessly posts pics of her boobs and diamonds and extravagant life style even during times of social unrest. It's not right and, as many of you have already said, it's hard to believe this is the humble adult I fell in love with all those years ago.

Re: Mariah's World on hold at E (64,069) (64,078) (64,086) by Musti from UK
Yes, please enlighten us. No disrespect, if anything, your posts have been quite on-point lately. But considering your avatar, it's very tempting to think your boy at E is an imaginary one. Regardless of the accuracy of your statement, the position still stands. MW has no air date and M's camp isn't even bothering to give us an explanation.

Re: Mariah's World on hold at E (64,070) (64,074) by Musti from UK
You raise good points. Stella is from a TV background, right? If MW can't even get an air date due to "difficult dynamics" (whatever the hell that means), I'd really begin to question Stella's worth right about now. In this case, I doubt any single/album release would be properly handled either. I was very excited last year when Vegas had proved her voice is back and earlier this year when SSFT garnered amazing reviews. I felt like it was all building up to something special. Now all I see is destruction. The outfits, the sloppiness, the ego, her social media, her endless reliance on the MC brand (which has become nothing more than a source of ridicule, really), Stella potentially turning into yet another yes-man, and the list goes on. I don't want the current impressive condition of her voice to go to waste. But she doesn't seem to want to leave her comfort zone. She won't even have the other side of her face filmed, after all these years. At this point I don't really expect chart success or a comeback. I'll support anything she releases, as I always do. But overall, I don't think her career is going anywhere. It's sad. Please prove me wrong Mariah.

Marriage / family / underwear (64,053) by Musti from UK
I think we should all keep our noses out of the whole marriage issue. Just like we should have done the same last year when Morgan appeared out of the blue calling Mariah all sorts of things. Family matters are private, and although we all like to think we are her extended family, none of us are her actual family. The only thing we have to go by are her social media pics and tabloid articles. If we start interpreting these, we are no better than the tabloids. Unless the marriage has any bearing on her career itself (like her marriage to Nick destroying the immense potential of E=MC2), I don't see how it's any of our business. Her reasons for choosing Nick and James are her own, not ours. On an unrelated note, I'm still praying for the day when Mariah will take to the stage (or any other public appearance) in full clothing. Kajal, I agree that she used to be more elegant back in the day but we must remember that that was 20+ years ago. I understand the need to be sexy. However I am quite fed up of seeing her in nothing but underwear. It looks desperate.

Re: Wow (63,938) (63,940) by Musti from UK
You nailed it Marissa. I also don't understand some lambs who constantly advise others to go take a chill pill. It's not like I'm losing sleep over any of this. But the reason I am frustrated is because I am a hardcore fan. I am not ashamed of caring about her and her career, and I won't have a** licking lambs hanging me for it.

Re: Wow (63,923) (63,930) by Musti from UK
Your post makes no sense, so it's hard to respond to. I'll say this though. Leave my connection to Mariah and her music to me. You worry about praising her every mistake to the moon and back. If I ever feel like it's time to quit her, I definitely won't need your advice on the matter. I'm not the first one who's been let down by some of Mariah's or her team's poor decisions and I'm sure I won't be the last.

Not excited anymore (63,909) by Musti from UK
I agree with everyone who thinks the non-ensemble was tacky and cheap. I also think it was so hideous that it has managed to distract from the main point - the music. This event was her chance to try something different instead of standing there being absolutely useless and trying to look like a model which, I'm sorry to say, she is not. Everytime her body is back in shape, she goes back to what truly lies in her heart. That is, dropping all her clothes. It's Loverboy all over again. At least she was at the right age back then. I'm disappointed. It first started with her Orlando silence for me. Then her non-effort at the DJ set. Does she really care about the music anymore? Whatever happened to trying to add new songs to the Vegas setlist? And I don't mean accapella one-liners in between songs. She could've easily added and removed 1 new single per week. She has become lazy and lousy. It seems all she cares about is playing Barbie or being as "sexy" as possible. As someone said here a couple of weeks ago, it's just her standing there singing Vision Of Love in a glittering bodysuit and a giant feather cape. No inspiration whatsoever. For the first time ever, I am not excited about an upcoming Mariah project. Once again she will come out making a fool of herself and I'm really tired of defending her for her own failures. Such a shame, considering that her voice is in the best shape it's been in a long time.

Re: My All (63,754) (63,788) by Musti from UK
I don't usually agree with your posts due to your strong position about the voice. But I must say, My All is indeed her deepest #1. One Sweet Day might come close but it always gave me the post-funeral feeling after the real heartache is over. WBT definitely isn't that strong, it's more like a frantic high school girl not sure of what to make sense of her feelings. My All is about a grown woman whose heart is torn apart. It's almost suicidal. I've never been able to connect with My All, or with the other "clones" as you named them. But the emotion in the lyrics, her voice and the video are undeniable. My All might not have topped Billboard for a long time but it's one of her few #1's that was a consistent hit throughout the world.

Article: Mariah Carey to make DJ debut this weekend in Las Vegas (63,730) by Musti from UK
I'm quite excited about this. I am not sure what to expect but it might inspire her to try new things on the next album. I doubt it will be anything like Tiesto (and I really hope not). But if she ends up experimenting with other producers/DJs like George Fitzgerald, Saje, Mount Kimbie, James Blake, Nicolas Jaar, etc I'm all for it. There is so much talent out there. It's just a matter of being aware of it.

Re: I Don't Wanna Cry (63,699) (63,702) by Musti from UK
I agree Sheila. Some people seem to go stupid when it comes to her voice. Do any of you sound like the toddler you once were? Or when you were in your 20s? I hope for your sake that you don't. Some of you on this board haven't even reached that age. Perhaps that explains the endless immature commentary. Let it go guys. You're only disappointing (and quite possibly hurting) yourselves.

Stage presence (63,610) by Musti from UK
I've just had a rundown of some of her recent Vegas performances. I am glad she's decided to do Vegas and then SSFT. Her stage presence has improved significantly and it keeps getting better. I didn't even notice how she doesn't dance or move around much anymore. I know this is Vegas and there are a lot of stage theatrics going on but all one needs to do is compare this month to her first Vegas performance last year. I think she has finally become the live singer that she never was earlier in her career. I can't detect an ounce of stage fright. She's going for all the impromptu chest notes possible.

Re: Advocate or poser? (63,461) (63,498) by Musti from UK
Nice post Natalia. She has inspired countless gay men. It would have indeed been comforting. I don't doubt for a second that she cares to be honest. I like that she never tried to own any particular group or minority the way GaGa did as it can come across fake the way GaGa does sometimes. But this time round circumstances were a little different. If it really is Mishka running her social media accounts, someone needs to send that girl back to school. More than Mariah's silence, I was heartbroken by some of the things said here. I really felt like I don't belong here anymore. Anyway despite my disappointment here I am already back on the board. In all my years as a lamb I'd never seen the lambily so divided, not even when it comes to her voice. I hope we can all recover from this.

Re: What’s going on? (63,401) (63,404) by Musti from UK
You're right. Expectations from her are at an all-time high and they're only getting worse by the day. However I'm finding it a little heartbreaking and insensitive to read from lambs who have tried to justify Mariah's silence by referring to the shootings as just another event. Err, no. Especially not in Mariah's circumstances. An ally is someone who actively shows support. I have gone out of my own way to do exactly that. There was an article posted here some time ago (I looked for it Eric but couldn't find it) where the writer applauded Mariah for loving the gays but not as publicly as Lady GaGa so as not to capitalise on them. When she received the ally award, I was surprised but also prepared to accept that she must have done things we are not aware of. I didn't think Lee Daniels would have awarded her simply on the basis of being a close friend. But her silence for days was kinda insulting. I will keep my fingers crossed that she made donations or showed support through other means, even if social media seems to be the most influential way of supporting something these days. Hate is mankind's biggest enemy and she has enough influence to make a change, or make people think twice in the very least. I will get over it eventually but I will always remember this as a major fail. She will always have my love and support. But let's face it lambs, this was a big muck-up.

Re: Orlando (63,375) (63,383) by Musti from UK
That was a beautiful post Mimi. I applaud you for your approach and open mind. I am not sure what you feel about Mariah not showing support for the LGBT community at this time (sorry if I've missed it), but everything in your post was spot on. I do love Mariah but I am definitely disappointed. It seems she only pours out her support during presidential campaigns or when a celebrity passes away. Especially in light of being recognised as an ally so recently and the beautiful interview she had with the gay lamb, I would have expected her to be one of the first people to show support. Take notes Mariah. Sometimes you're being political simply by not saying anything.

Recent pics/videos (63,277) by Musti from UK
I don't see the big deal. She's just having a fun time. Martyn, I'm actually relieved that a less-than-impressive pic of her exists on the web. She is always so polished to perfection that it doesn't even feel real anymore. I didn't want to post this before so that I'm not hanged, but I really felt like her every single move on stage and on camera is a calculation to make sure she looks her absolute freaking best. I'm glad she is letting loose, if that is indeed what she is doing. She still look fabulous to me.

Re: Mimi L. / Diana Ross (63,168) (63,173) by Musti from UK
It's true, she never really talks about Diana being an influence but I think it's evident in her love for the Motown sound. Plus she covered three of Diana's songs (if we also count Don't Explain), more than any other singer's. I guess that's mention enough.

Re: Ensemble debut (63,145) (63,162) by Musti from UK
Mimi you're amazing, thank you for the pics. The only one I'm not feeling is the feathers in the first pic. They made her look bigger than she is. Or maybe it's just the angle. I've noticed many people didn't like the red dress. I think that one might actually be my favourite. Love them legs. The only problem I have with it is the shoes. I don't think they're a good match with the dress.

Re: JLo responds to Mariah, again (63,104) (63,106) by Musti from UK
I've noticed that too. I think it's time to put IDKH to rest. JLo shouldn't come out looking in the right about this. Mariah's numerous references recently were fun but let's just put it behind us please. It's just like Eminem doing an album cut about Mariah and Mariah releasing Obsessed as the lead single. Mariah gives these haters way too much attention sometimes.

Re: Mariah Carey arriving and leaving after taping JK (63,053) (63,061) by Musti from UK
Thank you for sharing the video. I love seeing things like this. I can't even begin to understand what it must feel like for her having people screaming out her name everytime she's out in public. It has been this way for 26 years. Yet she still walks out all smiles, and she absolutely means it. I truly admire her for that.

Article: This week in Billboard chart history (62,878) by Musti from UK
I love it when Billboard speaks so highly of her - "the Mariah Carey era on Billboard". She will always be their bona fide queen.

Re: I don't know her shade (61,580) (61,585) by Musti from UK
I totally agree Mimi. Some of the recent articles that talked about the shade situation didn't even mention how the whole thing really began, almost sounding like Mariah has been picking on JLo for no reason. And yes, it was funny that "I don't know her" has been brought back after all these years but putting it up everywhere is a bit unnecessary. It's not a good look. And JLo is getting undeserved attention out of it. There are many other ways to celebrate Mariah's return to form than to bring up her shady moments.

Re: Eternally thirsty? (61,430) (61,439) by Musti from UK
Mariah is not a peer of any of the names you mentioned. She is about 10 years ahead of them. Mariah's peers would be Celine (at least her international career), Mary J Blige and other singers that came out in the early 90s, none of whom had commercial success in a long time. Mary has been collaborating with a lot of recent artists but that hasn't necessarily pushed her own album or single sales. Whatever success Mariah has had since E=MC2 is solely based on the Mariah brand, which is running its course fast. Mariah needs a fresh marketing strategy as well as fresh material. We can't expect her to repeat the same 90s strategy and expect a different (more successful) outcome. Those methods are extremely outdated. And yes, she does need to do more than Beyonce and Rihanna to promote herself since her material has become very irrelevant over the years. I also think we all need to stop assuming that the docu-series is bound to destroy Mariah's career. I think it's a great way of putting her back on the TV screen. This is Mariah we are talking about. She is not going to let it turn into reality trash. She even said herself that she refuses to call it a reality show.

There are resemblances indeed. I thought the intro/chorus also sounds very similar to Kelly Rowland and Nelly's Dilemma.

Bianca (61,418) by Musti from UK
I agree with everyone who said Bianca should be featured in the docu-series. Priceless idea. It is too late indeed to put her in a music video. I'm not sure how it could work. Not sure about the make-up either. She looks more like catwoman than Bianca. It didn't look like a professional pic though so I'll be forgiving. I'm glad she's back, even if it was just for laughs.

Re: Where is the music? (61,408) (61,416) by Musti from UK
I don't think new music will happen before the wedding (in summer?). I'd be happy if it does but it might actually be for the best if it doesn't. She needs to promote like crazy when she finally drops the new single and album. I don't want the wedding or a never-ending honeymoon to get in the way of that. We don't want another E=MC2 situation when she disappeared off the planet after marrying Nick. Her schedule needs to be absolutely clear. I want a successful single but I want a #1 album even more. A legend of her stature should be able to achieve that easily but for some reason she hasn't had one for nearly a decade. Everything needs to be perfect. I'm enjoying the hype though. Resurrecting Bianca was great.
