Haha trust me Marissa, I too don't think it's a possibility but a fan can dream eh? You are right about the Superbowl performer, that the person has to put up a show, which includes dancing and pulling big performance. Sigh. The Honey-Heartbreaker remix would be great though, even if she uses it in some other show.

Superbowl ideas (59,692)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
So I was thinking if Mariah was to headline the Superbowl, who would you want her to bring out and what songs would you like her to perform? I think as much as we love her ballads, making the whole show a ballad moment would bore people so we need some upbeat songs too. I don't know what I want yet (hence I want to hear other people's thoughts). But for now I guess I would love for her to bring out Jay-Z and Puffy and do a Heartbreaker-Honey remix mashup. And then bring out the Bieber and maybe do a WBT and "Sorry" mashup (since they are of the same theme). Or do a "Shake It off" and "Love Yourself" mashup (with a bit off, "My mama don't like you but she likes everyone, shake shake shake it off" haha, too much?). It would also be great for her to bring out a current female artist. Also spare me the "Mariah should never perform at the superbowl" or "Mariah is not super bowl's type" posts. It's just for fun darlings.

"Does Stella do Mariah's make up?" Haha the shade (all caps), I can't. Stella is getting a beauty blender as a gift from me if she continues to remain non-blended in the contour department. I agree by the way, about the eye makeup. She looks way better with lesser makeup.

Yes I feel like the brown hair would just change up her look a lot without having to make a major change. I also agree about the eyebrows. Sometimes they don't get it right.

Article: What wedding dress will Mariah Carey wear? (59,674)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Oh Lord, the second and third dresses are divine. I can picture Mariah looking like a goddess that she is in both of them. She can go for the Acra one for the main ceremony and then change into the Lhuillier one for the reception. Plus no straight hair, we want big voluminous curls dahlin'.

I say go for the Daydream warm brown hair with the softest highlights. It looks gorgeous on her. I feel darker hair makes her look more youthful and makes her skin pop more. It'll be a good refreshing change.

Lord yes. This new wig is so much better than the old one which was really bad. This looks closer to her real hair and this dress is also better than the previous opening number.

The pink dress (59,633)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
So turns out Mariah/Stella wasn't trolling us when they wrote they are waiting for the pink dress. They probably meant this pink dress. It's a beautiful dress and Mariah again looks like the TEOM era, but I wish she'd keep this for a red carpet event. It's a little too simple to be a concert costume, especially a Vegas concert costume, where things are supposed to glitter and shine and be over the top. If Mariah would wear this to a red carpet, man she'd look gorgeous.

Re: Article: Wendy Williams: Mariah won't make it down the aisle (59,618) (59,626)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
For Wendy's sake I hope she doesn't go ahead and make a bet that she will eat crow like she did with Kim and Kanye haha. I think the bet was something like she will eat crow if Kim and Kanye actually walk down the aisle or if their marriage lasts longer than a certain period she mentioned (I forgot which it was, Lee TS would you help me out?). And then when she lost the bet she had to actually eat crow on her show which was hilarious. So yes, she is very close to betting the same for Mariah and I'll basically have a "on the bathroom floor" moment if Ms Williams is left to devour another crow.

Lee dahlin' I wasn't going off at your post, in fact I found yours to be quite well balanced, logical and neutral. My post was more of a defense for JD because I think a lot of time we forget that he was out in the front, shielding Mariah when fans were basically throwing tomatoes at him and dragging him through mud for the delays. I too am not a fan of Mariah hiring close friends as managers (that includes Randy Jackson) and while JD is a great producer, he was not cut out to manage someone as big as Mariah. Haha the poor guy basically broke down and said "go ask Mariah why the album is being delayed" after being verbally abused and bruised by everyone calling him a leech. But he always told it how it is to Mariah and even Mariah admitted that. So yes definitely a bad decision to hire him as a manager but losing him as a friend and collaborator is quite a sad loss. He pushed Mariah to belt her heart out in WBT when she wanted to sing-rap the whole thing. I feel like he was one of the last people to genuinely care about her and not like the other who just took and took from her. He seemed to care and he gave back to her too in the form of beautiful collaborations between eh too. I am not saying Mariah "needs" him because no she doesn't. She can get others to write with but I just feel that they understand each other so well musically, and both of them admits it. Why I am still defending JD even though I went off on L A for chalking Mariah up as a legacy artist is because I feel like he might be upset that he was basically thrown out of her inner circle after having to take hits for his friend but L A on the other hand had Mariah running back to him and trusting him with her career and the first interview he gives after getting her back he blatantly talks about how she is past her sell date and should resort to singing her back catalog and covers only. Haha me defending JD is probably how people defending Walter feel. With JD, it's just that she was making the type of music she loved. But oh well, like you mentioned he now seems to be in the same deep well with Walter, Randy Jackson. If JD meant Mariah is done then I am sad that it has come to that but like I said Mariah's win or defeat depends solely on Mariah. A lot of people might now call me out as being a "goat" (not you Lee) but I am just saying what I think. I am and will always be a lamb but this is one of Mariah's lost friendships that I will genuinely feel bad about.

Re: MC sings with the interviewer (59,612) (59,616)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Reluctant or not, the woman sang. She let him have his moment, which for a fan is a dream come true. She let him lead the song and then joined in parts. If Mariah would sing one line to me personally, I would faint right there or get a serious case of shivers. Can we blame her for being reluctant? This woman is written off every time she misses one note (and that too when even her misses are better that most peoples best). She can give days of great vocals and we won't get one article but the day she has a bad moment, headlines spring out like mushrooms. So no I don't blame her for usually being reluctant to sing on spot because people have hammered her so much about her voice that she seems to doubt it herself when she is put on spot. The only complain I have of her interviews is that she gets quite stiff, as in her body gets stiff during interviews. I wish she was more relaxed like she was just a few years back.

Jermaine (59,611)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
What's with all the meltdown over Jermaine. I didn't hear the podcast but judging from the gist, I am assuming he was annoyed about the question or he just didn't want to make a comment about her. As for her making new music, isn't it true that Mariah's kids now are her primary focus, and now more than ever because she is divorced and probably has to put in twice the effort to cushion the blow for Roc and Roe? At least he isn't going around painting Mariah as a legacy artist like L A Reid did even recently on the Wendy show. When asked about how he feels when older artists wants to put out new music and say "let me play my new song for you guys", "that's the time to go get the popcorn". This is the man Mariah went to in hopes of getting her career back on track. If Jermaine is a little salty, it's slightly understandable because after basically being given up as the sacrificial lamb during the MIAM era (where the delays were not his fault yet the lambs tore him down for it bringing up stuff like how he is bankrupt and leeching off Mariah and saying a lot of crap) he was subsequently dropped from Mariah's team. Then Mariah went to L A and I think it's known that L A and Jermaine don't gel well together. The songs he were responsible for on that album was great and I don't think they sound dated. If MILG was sung by Beyonce or Adele, it would be on the top of the charts by now, sitting there for weeks straight. YDKWTD would have been a huge summer song if it was given the right treatment. "Supernatural" is probably the only song that sounds a bit dated but Mariah wrote it for her twins. Even his last song with MC before MIAM, the H.A.T.E.U remix was fire. I don't regret saying that I do want her to work with Jermaine in addition to her working with new fresh producers. Because they understand each other musically. As for whether Mariah can make a big comeback or not, that won't depend on what anyone says. That will only depend on Mariah herself. When she gets her fire back and when she is inspired to write again, and then back up that body of work by going all out with promotions, then no one can stop her.

Aww that video of James dancing to "Heartbreaker" is just so adorable. It's the cutest thing I saw today. I don't care if he can't dance, the fact that he is right there supporting her and busting a move to his fiance's song is everything.

New dresses (59,528)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Absolutely love this golden dress. She looks straight out of 2005 here. This other glittering dress she wore, I am not a big fan of it, but I guess for a Vegas show it might have looked great on stage and again she just looks so TEOM era here. This is her other new dress. So far no news on the "the fish ate Mariah" dress so I am guessing it has been banished.

Hey G. So here's my thought. I feel like more than "who" should direct the video, what is lacking in Mariah videos nowadays is a good story line, creativity and budget. For a great video, she doesn't really need to go far from great directors she has already worked with but because of the lack of creativity, story line and budget, she just resorts to touching herself through out the video like YM(E), which could have been a great video because the visuals were stunning (the forest scenes of her near the water and her underwater shots) but it lacks in a story. Is Mariah a fairy? Is she a mermaid? Is she someone who uses glitter excessively and hence left behind a crap load of it on Trey's bed after a night together? We don't know. Why get Trey in the video if you don't have a single scene together? They could have done a great modern twist on "The Little Mermaid" for the video (which I think they were trying) but failed and all we got was Mariah holding her boobs throughout the video. Now look at "#Beautiful" There is no doubt Mariah looked the hottest she has in years, in that video, but that's about it. There is no story and it looks like a photo shoot "behind the scenes" moment. This video was directed by Joseph Kahn, and Joseph is a great, and worked with Taylor on all her videos from 1989. But the difference between his work with MC and Tay is the budget and story. I absolutely loved what he did with "Blank Space" and "Wildest Dreams". Then Brett Ratner. I was so excited when I heard he will direct the "Infinity" video because all their previous collaborations have been awesome. But again, it lacked creativity and a story. What could have been a funny moment with the 3 cameos, where just given a back seat and we just got weird shots of her bouncing in her closet and the unnecessary "sofa - Match.com" moment. So those are my thoughts, but if I were to name names, I would say she doesn't have to look far from people she already worked with. Joseph Kahn, Paul Hunter (honey and DFAU), Jake Nava (SIO and GYN, he also has done a lot of great videos for Beyonce, Britney, Kanye), Brett Ratner (but this time no stupid story line) and Chris Robinson (who worked on Li'l L.O.V.E. and IKWYW) and Hype Williams. I don't know if I could express myself properly, but I hope you got what I meant.

Love Yourself (59,514)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Justin replaced himself at #1 on the hot 100 chart. He was at the top with his song "Sorry" and now he replaced himself with "Love yourself". This is third single going to #1 from this album. Even more heartbreak for me for the lost opportunity that the MC-Justin collaboration could have had (no, I am not endorsing "Why You Mad" but if they had polished it up and lost the rappers, it could have been good). We need another collaboration.

I honestly don't get why Rihanna is so successful and has so many #1's. I can still be fine with Beyonce because she is a decent singer and a heck of a performer but Rihanna is neither a good singer, nor a good performer. Plus I also don't get why out of all people Mariah is always so positive about Rihanna. She usually doesn't talk about "loving" artists who are not good singers and/or creatively involved in their music.

Responses to my post "Question time" (59,477)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|

Thanks for the inputs. I too want a upbeat, fun song with a big chorus and something catchy that gets people hooked. I don't mean a "Migrate 2.0" but something that is refreshing and something people can just have a good time with. Since fall is almost over and spring is approaching I'd like the uptempo song that people can blast on the radio. And like RJJ12 pointed out, it should sound well cooked and have a nice structure. I love "#Beautiful" but it does sometimes sound rushed and her last song (although unreleased) "Why you Mad" sounds like it ended abruptly. I would love her first single to be Mariah only (she can later remix it with a collaborator) but if she chooses to have a collaborator on the first single, I hope that MC takes up more of the song than the collaborator (unlike #Beautiful) or at least is present in the same ratio.
