I feel like more than "who" should direct the video, what is lacking in Mariah videos nowadays is a good story line, creativity and budget. For a great video, she doesn't really need to go far from great directors she has already worked with but because of the lack of creativity, story line and budget, she just resorts to touching herself through out the video like YM(E), which could have been a great video because the visuals were stunning (the forest scenes of her near the water and her underwater shots) but it lacks in a story. Is Mariah a fairy? Is she a mermaid? Is she someone who uses glitter excessively and hence left behind a crap load of it on Trey's bed after a night together? We don't know. Why get Trey in the video if you don't have a single scene together? They could have done a great modern twist on "The Little Mermaid" for the video (which I think they were trying) but failed and all we got was Mariah holding her boobs throughout the video. Now look at "#Beautiful" There is no doubt Mariah looked the hottest she has in years, in that video, but that's about it. There is no story and it looks like a photo shoot "behind the scenes" moment. This video was directed by Joseph Kahn, and Joseph is a great, and worked with Taylor on all her videos from 1989. But the difference between his work with MC and Tay is the budget and story. I absolutely loved what he did with "Blank Space" and "Wildest Dreams". Then Brett Ratner. I was so excited when I heard he will direct the "Infinity" video because all their previous collaborations have been awesome. But again, it lacked creativity and a story. What could have been a funny moment with the 3 cameos, where just given a back seat and we just got weird shots of her bouncing in her closet and the unnecessary "sofa - Match.com" moment. So those are my thoughts, but if I were to name names, I would say she doesn't have to look far from people she already worked with. Joseph Kahn, Paul Hunter (honey and DFAU), Jake Nava (SIO and GYN, he also has done a lot of great videos for Beyonce, Britney, Kanye), Brett Ratner (but this time no stupid story line) and Chris Robinson (who worked on Li'l L.O.V.E. and IKWYW) and Hype Williams. I don't know if I could express myself properly, but I hope you got what I meant. (Wednesday 3 February 2016; 3:46)

Love Yourself (59,514) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Justin replaced himself at #1 on the hot 100 chart. He was at the top with his song "Sorry" and now he replaced himself with "Love yourself". This is third single going to #1 from this album. Even more heartbreak for me for the lost opportunity that the MC-Justin collaboration could have had (no, I am not endorsing "Why You Mad" but if they had polished it up and lost the rappers, it could have been good). I can still be fine with Beyonce because she is a decent singer and a heck of a performer but Rihanna is neither a good singer, nor a good performer. Plus I also don't get why out of all people Mariah is always so positive about Rihanna. She usually doesn't talk about "loving" artists who are not good singers and/or creatively involved in their music. (Tuesday 2 February 2016; 5:18)

Responses to my post "Question time" (59,477) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Thanks for the inputs. I too want a upbeat, fun song with a big chorus and something catchy that gets people hooked. I don't mean a "Migrate 2.0" but something that is refreshing and something people can just have a good time with. Since fall is almost over and spring is approaching I'd like the uptempo song that people can blast on the radio. And like RJJ12 pointed out, it should sound well cooked and have a nice structure. I love "#Beautiful" but it does sometimes sound rushed and her last song (although unreleased) "Why you Mad" sounds like it ended abruptly. I would love her first single to be Mariah only (she can later remix it with a collaborator) but if she chooses to have a collaborator on the first single, I hope that MC takes up more of the song than the collaborator (unlike #Beautiful) or at least is present in the same ratio. Personally I want a a club banger/upbeat song because she hasn't released one as a single in a while. I want something people can sing along to and just have a good time listening to it. Re: Walter (59,428) (59,438) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I don't think lambs hate on Walter or try to discredit his input but I am guessing (from personal experience) what annoys them more is when it is suggested that Mariah "needs" Walter to write a decent song. Yes they had great iconic songs together, but Mariah didn't stop writing cheesy (in a good way) big ballads after that. I think people try to credit Walter so much for her initial songs that they forget Mariah was equally responsible for them. Don't forget that Walter may be successful but he is best know for his work with Mariah so why discredit Mariah's input in her songs? And Mariah is also an artist and an artist works her best when she is inspired and set free to follow their vision and the songs that she had with Walter were just not the type she was into. We have to embrace that. Plus Mariah had WBT almost 10 years after Walter and that song is also iconic and one of her most successful so no, not all of her new tracks are "throwaways". Do I crave a new sound from Mariah? Yes? Do I think she needs to go back to someone who once made a good writing partner but eventually betrayed her when she was at her most vulnerable? Like if you are giving the album away for free and have Samsung pay for it then obviously it'll go platinum. From what I heard, most of her fans didn't even enjoy the album. Jay-Z trying so hard to make Tidal happen and he got 1 million subscribers for Tidal after Rihanna released her hyped album for free but aren't these trial subscribers who will eventually close the account after a month? Jerry O'Connell (59,423) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter So I just saw Jerry's appearance on the Wendy Show and oh gosh the man is so funny. He is just effortlessly funny and just took over the show. I remember a while back he said in an interview that he had a crush on Mariah. Man I wish they had dated. Mariah loves to joke and Jerry would make her laugh until her tummy hurts. Plus the guy is quite the looker. (Friday 29 January 2016; 19:13)

I don't think we have seen photos of Mariah and the Packer kids anywhere, but I wouldn't rule out them having met in private without photographers around, just to keep it more intimate. She really does put up a show and while JLo is also a good performer, there is no need to put down Britney since she did manage to have a very successful residency at Vegas for a long time now. I laughed at Wendy saying "If I am not too exhausted, I will go watch Mariah after I see JLo." Like girl please, you know you love yourself some Mimi, no need to make it sound otherwise. Wendy now also keeps using "dahlin'" a lot in her sentences. Looks like Norman isn't the only lamb on that show. (Thursday 28 January 2016; 18:31)

The Packer Carey clan may have met in private. I mean we all know Mariah can pull private things away from the paps, like when she got married to Nick and no one knew about it until after it was done. It was simple, sleek and chic. I also loved how she was totally feeling like royalty and she looked like a queen meeting the commoners here and here. Love this too. Also I forgot to mention in my last post but I do love the messy bun situation she had going on in the pool scenes (if that was what you were referring to). That is so effortlessly sexy. It's every managers job. Every celebrity has managers and they all work tirelessly for them. I don't see Beyonce hanging out with her manager's kids at dates with Jay Z just saying. Plus you miss the point, no one said she has to absolutely never enjoy with Mariah and bring her daughters, Everyone who talked about this topic were very specific about how sometimes the line has been crossed and Stella along with her daughters were present in places that would be considered especially private. Benny, Jermaine, Randy and many others who managed her before didn't do that either. Jermaine being one of her closest friend didn't follow her with his entire family.
