Re: Drake and Ariana (97,202) (97,210) by T from USA I don't agree that Mariah wouldn't jump in with a huge artist to have a big hit. Mariah is a hitmaker and she loves being on top of the charts. This is the same woman who teamed up with Boyz II Men and 98 Degrees. For two of her #1's. And also Bieber and Ari on Christmas songs. I'm not sure if it's her or Drake not wanting to take the plunge. In 2015 TLC were performing at some big profile event and Drake was supposed to join them then at the last minute dropped out because he didn't think it would be a good look to associate with a legacy act. Sometimes these things just slip through cracks and we are left with what if. If he collaborated with Ariana then Mariah will want to find a fresh new rapper to hit up as she will try and avoid comparisons at all costs. Her Drake collaboration came and went with GTFO. Unfortunately sales used to be king but these days they don't account for much. In Mariah's case they help her a bit because her audience tends to be older so streaming is harder for her. Kelly Clarkson (96,774) by T from USA Watching the 88th annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center and seeing Kelly Clarkson perform her new Christmas song has me wondering if it was supposed to be Oh Santa (ft. Kelly Clarkson & J-Hud)? I mean these things were planned last year shortly after appearing on the Voice with both girls. I wonder if Kelly doing her own Christmas projects meant she couldn't do it? I know it's a long shot and we'll never actually know the inner workings but Ariana seems so random and if the song was arranged with a powerful voice like Kelly's then it would make sense that she would have to fill in the spot with someone equally as good. JD produced the new Oh Santa (96,769) by T from USA He just tweeted about the song on December 4. I guess that takes away any chance it will have more of a pop leaning sound. It will be totally urban, maybe even more so than the 2010 version. Especially where Mariah's head is at in proving how black she is and if [Save the day] is any indication, all hope is lost. The general public could really get behind this the only question is will the video sink it. Her first album was eleven tracks so it would be a full circle moment. I'd hope she would focus on jazz and urban a/c music and have no features. Just her and her voice.
