About Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter:

Mimi in Vegas (53,687) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
It's funny how before she started her shows, the whole world was so sure that midway her residency will be cancelled and every article printed from the time she announced her residency, up until the opening night had a certain para with something along the lines of "meanwhile tickets for Mariah's Vegas residency are having sales way below expectation" or "her Vegas residency tickets are have disappointing sales" and the moment she got on stage on the first night, people just had to sit down and shut up. Her shows are sold out, she sounds amazing and now instead of being cancelled, her shows are being extended. Then it's also hilarious how Wendy's poll (even though it's a small example) showed how the vast majority chose Mariah over Britney (Britney's votes were less than half of Mariah's) and JLo got only one vote. Goes on to show that real talent conquers all.

Infinity remix (53,685) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So while we wait for the video to drop and since there is no current schedule promo, I'd like to know that if there is an Infinity remix, who would you like Mariah to collaborate with? I think due to the content of the song, it would be best if she collaborates with a female artist (getting their women empowerment on), but I want to know which artist (male or female) would you like to be featured on the remix?

The current adventures of Mimi (53,682) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
This is such an amazing time to be a lamb. We all have collectively gone through a very disappointing few years (not because of her musical ability, that is flawless) due to various things going wrong in MC's professional life and eventually her personal life. We all struggled with her and we alternatively supported her and complained, but now we are being rewarded. Mariah is finally giving us everything we have been wanting, one step at a time and I couldn't be happier. She is in great shape vocally and her live performances are getting better with each show and she is slowly getting back her onstage confidence and taking risks, improvising as she goes. The world is again in awe of this amazing voice of an angel. She deserves every praise she is getting. Sometimes when I look at the comments below her articles being mean and harsh, I used to feel bad but now I don't care, because there will always be haters, even for the most popular current star. I don't care because Mariah is giving it her all, coming with guns blazing, and nothing else matters. She is receiving critical acclaims left and right. I love her new personality, its not a drastic change. She is still the same MC, but with a few tweaks here and there, keeping the humor at right level, professional responses in check, sounding more human (less untouchable diva) thanks to her interviews detailing how she has suffered. I really have no complaints about her at the moment. Yes, if she would get a better stylist, I could die in peace but as of now, if this is the trade off (great performance vocally and her current persona over some questionable fashion choices), I will happily overlook the fashions faux pas. I won't even complain if she doesn't get a lot of commercial success right now. I can see that from her side she did everything, so I will be happy with whatever is the result. Do I want another major comeback? Yes of course and few days back I was going on and on about how I need MC to be back on the charts, but now I am fine if it doesn't happen. Our girl gave it her all. This is not to say that she can't have another huge comeback. I think she is more than capable of getting huge success, and can really show the current lot who the boss is. I just want to thank Mariah for making the changes she did. A little change goes a long way. Look at what her image had turned into just 365 days back and look at her now. Keep slaying them Mimi.

Infinity (53,633) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
In 5 days, "Infinity" will celebrate completing one month. So where's the video at boo? Ugh. Torture.

Ardis / umbrella holder (53,632) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Haha Ardis I agree. She has an umbrella holder, a chewing gum holder (she takes out the gum and hands it to them), one person to adjust her boob tape, one person to fix her straw so she can drink. These are apart from the hair team and the makeup team and bodyguards. It is funny, I wonder what a life like that feels like.

Top 3 #1's (53,630) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
This is hard. But I'll give it a go.
1. Heartbreaker: I love everything about it, the vibe of the song, the vocals, the music, the cute dances Mariah pulls, the ending chorus overlapped with the whistles. I adore the remixes of Heartbreaker (by which I mean the DJ Clue Remix and the "Heartbreaker/If you should ever be lonely" remix).
2. We Belong Together: I hate to put this as my second favorite, because honestly this song means a lot to me, but oh well. This song is pure perfection to be. Her vocals, you can hear the yearning, the video is gorgeous, the Desert Storm remix was hot tamale.
3. My All: Another great song. I have previously written a whole post about why I think this song is out of this world amazing and how the video completely complements the vibe of the song. The remix with "Stay Awhile" was one of the best remixes Mariah came up with.

Patti (53,575) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I wouldn't worry about that. From what I heard, she was given names of 3 specific current artists, which included Beyonce and Nicki and a third person I forgot. She was asked what she thinks about their music. She said Beyonce is good and pretty much shaded Nicki. Mariah's name wasn't in the list. Patti loves Mariah and Mariah loves Patti.

The issue with L.A. Reid (53,572) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Let's not confuse things here, I see a lot of people trying to explain that L.A. did not have any malicious intent when he said expecting MC to get another #1 is not realistic. I don't think anyone in this board thought he said that as a shade or that he is being malicious. We all know that MC and L.A. have nothing but love. I think that people are just upset that he made such a statement that the words "another number #1" and "not realistic" were used in the same sentence. And I get that. Look, I was one of the first to say that I think L.A. is doing this because he wants to downplay Mariah's capability to lower expectations and then hit people with a monster album. He is simultaneously reminding people that she is a legend (with the new compilation) at the same time also he is trying to make people feel that even this legend is vulnerable (to the current situation in the industry) and he is trying to get rid of the "untouchable diva" image that MC has had going which made people hate her and feel unconnected to her. He is trying to portray her as a normal human being. I get that and it's a good move, but I still don't think he should have made such a statement which can easily be taken extremely negatively. Because now people will be like "Mariah's last resort, L.A. doesn't think she has a hit left." What he should have done was just say that our interest is just to put out good music and remind people why they loved Mariah in the first place. Making a statement about her not being able to get another #1 was a bit too bold and unless he did it intentionally to make headlines (because any publicity is good publicity) I think the message should have been phrased differently. Now, on Kimmel even Mariah was like "I don't want to surpass the Beatles." So I don't know if she is saying that because L.A. told her to (because we know MC loves her record of #1's and why shouldn't she) or that she just said it because she didn't want to say anything that might be blown up to sound like she thinks she is better than The Beatles (which I think she is oops, I said it). So this can all be part of the image overhaul plan. I want people to feel connected to Mariah again, I don't mind her fun diva image but it's time to get rid of that part of being a diva which people mistaken for ego and arrogance. So L.A. do your thing, but don't make claims that may backfire and cause people to lose faith in her music. You are her boss, you are on her team. Downplaying is one thing, straight up saying "no" is another.

L.A. Reid (53,527) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
The man has me worried. Although he did say there are still many things Mariah can do, but the things he mentioned will forever push Mariah to the "old" category. Which is something I am sure MC wouldn't want, plus to say that another #1 is unrealistic so openly was bad too, I mean does he have to say that to the media? It portrays a bad image that he thinks MC can no longer get a #1. With the right promotion and a good song anyone can really get a #1 now as long as the song goes viral. So I didn't like what he said. Anyways he might however be doing something tricky. Usually Mariah's releases have high expectations because of her previous track record so people get disappointed easily, like what happened to me this time, I had such high expectations for "Infinity", but got disappointed when it released, but thankfully I ended up loving it in a few days. So maybe L.A. is lowering people's expectations to hit them with a massive album and all the talks about covers and duets are maybe so that her fans start petitioning against it and demanding original materials. So I am hoping this is his attempt to lower expectations to later hit them with a hit and that he doesn't really mean what he is saying now. Fingers crossed for this being a publicity stunt.

L.H. (53,523) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
She also sang "We Belong Together", "Always Be My Baby" and a snippet of "The Roof", yes "The Roof" but those weren't aired either and it's not new. From what I gathered, they air 1 and 1/2 or 2 performances and they sometimes air other performances on other nights or on YouTube. We know obviously that VOL and "Infinity" were chosen to air first because it is her first and last single to date. Plus, she is promoting the latter and also both kind of show the beginning to current position of her career.

Kimmel (53,515) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Woah she blew my hair away with the VOL performance and this time the transition from VOL and "Infinity" was so smooth and all the time she was so relaxed and she was interacting with the audience. My gosh, people should be exposed to this Mariah. Oh and bonus, this time she did the "punching" dance moves at the end of infinity. I love how she hugs herself during "loving me more and more", it's so cute.

What #1's should she perform (53,511) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I think Mariah should leave VOL for now in public appearances. It's not appealing to the current music buyers. Yes I am ready to be shot at with arrows by everyone on this board, but after yesterday's performance all songs mentioned namely "Infinity" and WBT started re-charting. VOL was no where to be seen. I personally never (oh my gosh please don't kill me) was a fan of VOL. I tried, I really did, but I couldn't, but I have the utmost respect for this song because 1) It is the song that introduced Mariah to the world. 2) It is the song that has inspired more artists than probably any other song. So yes, but I think it's time Mariah pumps up "Someday", LTT, "Heartbreaker" and "My All" (I know she sings the last 2 a lot, but those were mainly for her own concerts, not the TV shows). It's summer time and "Heartbreaker" is perfect for a feel good song and people can sing along, "My All" and LTT will showcase Mariah's beautiful range and her classic ballad moments "Someday" again will be the sing along anthem to every girl with a broken heart and that note at the end will be the cherry on top. What songs do you think she should use for her upcoming appearances? I am talking about TV shows and music awards and all, not personal concerts, so bear that in mind. The GP has to be hooked in with these more commercial songs and then bang, she can slip in VOL. With all this said, I am sorry if I offended anyone with the post, this is just my opinon/suggestions to get MC back on top.

Jono / Lee TS (53,499) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Jono, don't you worry darling, the little fake lipped brat and her sister got what they deserved by the end of the show, when they got up on stage to introduce their "brother-in-law" (whom they are by the way using to get into the A-list zone, fooling him by feeding his ego so that he does everything in his power to get them to the A list). Anyways so when they went on stage to introduce Kanye, they were booed so loud by the audience. TMZ has a recording but apparently the boos were heard louder by people seating in the audience who called if "deafening". So karma didn't take long to teach them a lesson. They got what they had coming for disrespecting a legend. Lee TS, yes Lee, that and even other snippets from throughout the night were mind blowing and MC effortlessly went on a vocal circus. This is what I meant in my last post and the contrast couldn't be clearer. Same night, within a matter of hours, MC goes from impressive to spectacular singing the same song. Our girl still has fight left in her.

Mariah live (53,477) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So much was discussed about the BBMAs that last night's Vegas show for her residency went by unnoticed. What I heard from the reviews, last night she was vocally at her best at her show. She took risks, improvised and sang her heart out. This shows that left with her true fans, Mariah is confident exploring her range and capability. Which also proves that she can still sing her ass of. Now the only thing she needs to do is take this to the GP. I understand her hesitation. Her last few performances have been ripped apart for her vocal mishaps, claims of lip-synching and all that jazz. So I get why Mariah froze up and decided not to let it all out when she was at the BBMAs. She was scared, she was genuinely nervous. She isn't afraid of taking risks in front of her fans and that's why her Vegas shows are getting such rave reviews. Mariah, no pressures, I just want you to slowly and steadily work on your self confidence and be the crazy Mariah we saw jump around on the Grammy's stage in 2006 and the VH1 ILT performance (with that orange flowy dress) where she dived, well ok not dived, but got right in the middle of the audience and danced around while singing. I know it will take a little time, but I am willing to wait, because I know she can do it. Now is a crucial time for Mariah. From her side she is trying to give us what we wanted, I think it's time we stand behind her to show our support. Let's overlook slight imperfections for now and show Mariah that she can slay.

Infinity (53,476) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Did you guys manage to watch the preview on Ellen? It was hilarious. "Italian lover Frito" made an appearance along with Jussie and Tyson. She looks like her TMB video, with her opening the door and all. It's cute. I can't wait to see the whole thing.

Performance (53,458) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I will focus on the positives. First things first, her performance did what it was meant to do. It pulled "Infinity" from being at somewhere around 1100 on iTunes USA and place it into the top 200 in 40 minutes of her performance, it shot "#1 to Infinity" into the top 200 too. Not only that, it gave a huge boost upwards to WBT and "Greatest Hits" (WBT was used in the montage and was labelled song of the decade), so the main point of MC standing there was accomplished. Mariah was on worldwide twitter trends at number 2 (only "#BBMAs" was at number 1), for a long time whereas the much talked about "Bad Blood Video" wasn't even in the top ten. I thought the second ensemble was cute and in some of the shots she looks like 2009 Mariah. I will credit her for going live and so I will excuse the slight shakiness, she could have lipped it with a pre-recorded track completely. But she struggled and made an overall good impact. To my surprise a lot of people actually seemed to know the lyrics to "Infinity". I'll support Mariah, she has not performed on such a big event in a long time. She tried two hard songs and she nailed it. I think the shakiness came more from her being super nervous and scared rather than her inability to sing. She could have hit some notes higher than she did, but you can see in her face that she got nervous and decided not to. She looked terrified and I felt like giving her a hug, it must be difficult to go in front of such a huge audience knowing full well that all eyes were on her to tear her apart because the last performance of hers that anyone heard about was the Rockefeller one. I think as she starts doing more of these shows again, she'll regain her confidence and we might see a Grammy's 2006 moment again. Now let me give some bad moments: I wish MC would do a power walk across the stage (and that runway like thing between the audience) with a dress train flowing behind her while she sang "Infinity", so MC take note for next time. The black dress was not a good choice MC, I'm sorry but the Rita Ora picture dress was so sexy and even edgy. Fire the stylist. Next time, once you finish, give one of thoe Boss-woman expressions you used to give when you killed a performance. If you show you are confident (even though you are not), people will buy it. Overall, I am happy, we can't expect her to fix the damage done to her reputation in 1 performance, but she is getting there. She is rising. She is back.

Baby (53,433) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
You are such a tease. Do you have some info that we don't? Because I am dying here. The first 13 are alternates/opposites for her studio albums, now what is this Olivia Pope/Scandal reference and what on earth will hit the DJs? Is any of her songs being used for Scandal? Or is there a remix? Or is she releasing that secret album? You know what? Just shoot me. I can't with this.

Dress again / Kelly "fangirling" (53,417) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So I just remembered that she wore a dress very similar to the black one on Idol and she looked so gorgeous. It was red, the color I have been trying to get her to wear for so long. This is the video, with the dress I am talking about and look at Kelly being nervous of even looking at Mariah. Haha that would be so me.

That black dress (53,416) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
The black dress she wore in the picture with Rita, wow. She should have worn that to the BBMAs. I know I said I'd like her to wear some other color but that dress is perfection, sexy and classy at the same time with a little bit of edge because of the material around her chest. It fits her perfectly and she looks really good in it. I hope she has some good outfits picked for tomorrow. Her appearance will be as important as her singing because she's going to be the focus tomorrow (with all the talk about the 15 minutes being dedicated to her).

Defending Mariah (53,414) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I agree with Licia that we don't have to defend our choice of loving Mariah to anyone. I come from a country where many people don't even know Mariah. The very few that know her either don't like her (because what they read and also they think she is only about cheesy ballads) or are casual listeners. They don't realize that she has an extensive catalog touching on almost every genre of music possible and that her ballads are anything but cheesy. There are very few who actually like her and few of them are my recruits too haha. (I made them listen to her songs and only then did they realize that her voice is phenomenal.) Anyways I have never felt the need to justify my love and devotion towards Mariah. Same with MJ. I used to be bullied for being an MJ fan but not once did I pretend to not be a fan to please people. MC and MJ are the only artists I am this dedicated too and I don't care if others cringe at me when I say this. I am a lamb and I am proud. I will not give explanations to anyone who thinks less of these two legends. Yes Mariah had many bad live moments, but she is still much better on her worst day than most singers in their best days.

Love for MC (53,402) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Mariah, if you are reading this, blow me a kiss while you are performing at the BBMAs. Haha no, I just want you to really give it your best, get up on the stage and act like the legend that you are, sing your heart out and blow the audience away and remind them that half of them are in that room because once upon a time they happened to hear VOL which gave birth to a passion inside them to pursue the dream of becoming a singer. Don't get nervous, don't weird out because the cameras will be on you. Just slay them all, put the sword back in the holster (is that what they call the leather thingy that they put the sword in?) and stand there and watch people clap until their hands hurt. You can do it, we believe in you, it's time that you start believing in yourself. Sending love, hugs, and a bag of throat candies your way.

Luke / Lee TS (53,401) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Luke, ya you have a good point there. I also vented in one of my post months back that I don't blame Mariah for dismissing Ariana and some others because I would be pissed too if people keep saying that someone will replace me especially when that person can just hit the whistle note and that's it, there is no more similarities between the too. Mariah is not only a singer, she is an established songwriter and producer and her voice is not only about the whistle, she had a gorgeous voice with such unparalleled versatility. Whereas Ariana squeaks her way through all her songs. Anyways, yes in that perspective "Emotions" is a better choice, I just thought "Someday" and "Infinity" have such a similar theme, it would be fun. But I don't mind her choice at all. Lee, I just went to the link again and now there are no songs listed besides Mariah. If she sings "Someday" tomorrow, I am taking full credit for it haha, no just joking. I don't care what she sings, I just want her to blow the audience away.
