About Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter:

Raphael (53,314) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
My apologies then. I don't really follow Beyonce's career or any other artist's for that matter, the way I follow Mariah and Michael. So ya I could be wrong. I could have sworn though that I thought Sasha Fierce didn't do welll, but I guess I mixed it up.

Marcus / Jono (53,313) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Marcus, haha sorry I was trying out my mind reading device. Or you could say I pulled a Beyonce/JLo and stole your idea. Jono, although my post is just my theory, I think it actually is quite possibly what went down. Why JLo never even came to my mind was because that thing happened years ago, that story has been repeated way too many times. The 3 key words "title, concept and visuals" immediately made me think of only Beyonce. To think that this copied idea got Beyonce to where she is today makes me mad. Before that album, Beyonce was serving one flop/moderate song after another. Even "Run the world" which she tried turning into an anthem didn't crack top 20. So her surprise album got crazy sales thanks to it being a surprise because most of the songs in it are crap. Beyonce is known for "borrowing". Now I can't help but wonder how amazing it would have been if Mariah got to carry on with her plan. She can actually write a whole story through an album. Beyonce tried to make it a story but it was basically about her butt, her drinking watermelon (which thanks to urban dictionary, I found out is not the real fruit), telling the driver to roll up the window while she blows Jay-Z. And here we have songs of loss and pain, hope, love and songs with truly deep meanings and still get thrown out of the BB charts without being able to cross top 80.

On another note (53,307) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Criticisms aside, I will say that I am happy with the way Mariah's interviews are going. She is shedding some light into things that happened in the past few years and she is sounding very professional and composed. This is something I have been wanting for a long time. I am glad to see her showing the "fighter" side in her instead of dismissing things like she doesn't care. I smiled at the part she said she wanted to kill because SIO didn't reach #1. I felt the same. So people take note, MC still very much cares about more #1's. Don't pretend that she doesn't care. When you have all the wealth in the world, you want more. Same with when you have all the #1's, you want more. It's human nature. MC is pretty much spelling it out. She will fight until she gets a #1 or a hit and people with the whole "she doesn't care about more hits" should maybe see that and accept that.

You know, I will always hope you are right and I am always ready to be proven wrong by MC when I criticize her. But really I don't know how "Infinity" will bounce back. I thought that the BBMA performance will act as a re-release for "Infinity" but for that it needed to stay at least on the Hot 100 chart this week as well and also be in the iTunes top 40. It's quite a stretch to think it will still be a hit. I am more than happy to hear "I told you so, I got another hit" from Mariah but it doesn't seem like it'll happen. I know Missy Elliot's song shot to #1 on iTunes the moment she performed it at the Superbowl, but come on that's the Superbowl, this is not of the same level. With all the positivity surrounding MC, it's a shame that this single slipped through the cracks,

I am just upset because I thought that they would really put in a lot of effort to promote this single. I am with you on the whole "let's not pretend it's a buzz single or it was just meant for the Vegas residency", I am not a believer of that. I also mentioned it a few posts below. It has now become a habit that every time MC releases a single, they hype it up and then drop promotions or delay it or whatever and then it flops and gets dubbed as a buzz single. Case in point "Triumphant - the buzz single/single dedicated to Nick", "You're Mine - only for Valentine's day/tie over until album release/tie over until the real single", "TAOLG - only for the fans, not an official single". Give me a darn break, I can't with these. Nowadays even a crappy song can hit #1 or at least crack the top 20 with the right kind of promotions. Infinity is still better than most songs played now. I am not with the people who think that only MC's talent is enough to get her to #1. It is difficult as it is to get #1 and this isn't the 1990s. I have tried to be very positive this era, but with the fall of "Infinity" and people starting with the whole "this wasn't meant to burn up the charts, she'll kill with the new album" I am pissed now. MC is a major talent, but even MC needs good promo if she wants to do well.

No Shawty, it's Beyonce, reply to Will from England. (53,298) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I'm pretty sure she is talking about Beyonce and not JLo. JLo's cheat game happened years ago, Mariah has had a somewhat of a rebirth after that so we can say that incident happened in another lifetime. What makes me so sure this is about Beyonce is because she mentions "title, visuals and concept" was stolen. Title because Beyonce's new album was also self-titled. Visuals because she had a video for each song. Concept, well didn't Mariah say a while back that she had a secret album that no one knew about? Who was the only one to come up with a secret album around the time MC was supposed to release her work? She also said it would be a big scandal if she names the artist, and at this point so much has been written about JLo-MC feud that it wouldn't even make a story, on the other hand Beyonce gained superstar status after releasing her last album (whereas her previous ones were flops) and a MC-Beyonce feud would blow up the internet. The apprentice stealing from the mentor. Maybe this is why MC was not at the Tidal party.

Tevin (53,296) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
You literally made me stop breathing for a second. I probably had a mini heart attack. Don't you dare do that to me again *shakes Tevin by the shoulders*. Haha, you tricked me good. I mean I don't like Ariana much but I can still digest her singing a MC song because she has been wanting to be Mariah for a long time, but I can't fathom the thought of JLo attempting a Mariah song. She can't sing to save her life.

Uh-oh (53,293) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Did Mariah just slam Beyonce and IDJ? I knew it that the content on MIAM was not what Mariah was working on for almost 4 years. She had a totally different idea and her "fan" just took it and got all the spotlight. Check out this interview. More surprises to come. Slay Mimi.

What? (53,286) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
It's out of BB already? That is plain sad. Ugh Sony what are you doing man? Where the heck is the music video? This sucks. I am so pissed right now. They put in more promo for the darn album cover reveal than the single itself. For those hoping for a sleeper hit, I hope I have to bite my words after this, but I think that's not going to happen. It'll take a miracle to get Infinity back in the top 20 again (that is of iTunes) we can forget about BB. Nowadays there is hardly any sleeper hit. People have a smaller attention frame and the radios will play whatever is hot and current at that period of time. They won't wait for weeks to discover a song.

Cancelled show (53,284) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I hope Mariah feels better. She really did take up a lot of gigs. I mean the Vegas residency is grueling as it is since she is singing a marathon of her toughest songs. Then she has so much planned for next week. Get well soon Mimi.

Infinity (53,273) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Deedre, that is exactly the kind of take on this single that scares me. Infinity is and was meant to be the single to get Mariah back on the charts. Now if it'll fizzle because they couldn't get more promo in place due to the residency and the fact that the MV is still not out, does not turn it into yet another buzz single. The video for it is not just concert footage. I have listed on a previous post that so far we saw 6 different scenes from the video, only 1 of which is the concert footage. The rest are all shot for a supposed storyline. To think that letting another single fall off the face of the earth won't do anything to Mariah is a very wrong idea. Every little flaw of MC is blown out of proportions. People are still going on and on about how her last hit was in 2009 with Obsessed (yes they forgot about #Beautiful already). They still talk about how MC's career has fallen since E=MC2. So I do not agree that yet another "buzz single" which will be forgotten is no threat for MC. I really hope the label doesn't think that. This is the start of her new era, it has to start with a bang.

Dance Mariah (53,271) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I think it's time Mariah busts a choreographed dance or two. No I know she isn't really known for her dances and neither am I asking her to pull a Beyonce. Infact I am asking for typical Mariah dances. I was watching Honey and Heartbreaker. She looks so cute with the simple dance moves. I want dance-Riah back. "Gimme your love". Also, unrelated, but just want to clarify, no one is scared of JLo overshadowing Mariah, my point of bringing up the JLo issue was solely that JLo can do the same things as Mariah and people will always shower her with positivity while MC will always be looked at negatively. It's unfair to Mariah.

#1 to infintiy (53,270) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Oh my gosh, the European booklet for #1 to Infinity is all kids of awesome. The pictures (although old) are gorgeous, there are even a couple I haven't seen before (which is surprising because I have spent days and months going through Mariah's photoshoots over the years). For those who are interested, here it is.

Lee TS (53,266) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
You know, while I get it that they mainly talk about the current lot of Hollywood, I have seen many times that they keep talking about JLo and even Madonna. I mean JLo is Mariah's age, Madonna is older than Mariah and either don't fall into the "current" lot. Moment JLo announces her residency, they talk about it, the moment JLo wears a dress they gush over it. Mariah is never mentioned. I mean come on, not even the Vegas arrival?

25th year anniversary (53,259) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I wonder if they have anything planned for her 25th anniversary. I really hope they do. This is a major milestone in Mariah's career and it needs to be celebrated. Waiting eagerly for May 15th. Fingers crossed for a day full of MC festivities.

Two disappointing things (53,258) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
1) Britney's single was released just last week and the video is already out. No matter how crappy the song is, it is already being labelled the "song of the summer". I am not really worried about Britney's song, what upsets me is that her single release was planned nicely. The video has the right amount of weird things in it which will make casual listeners stop by and watch it.
2) JLo's Vegas residency has been announced and her promo is much better than Mariah's. Now don't get me wrong, Mariah is doing really well considering last year's disaster, but to think this woman who sings about her butt is getting so much more coverage that a woman who has the voice of an angel is annoying to say the least. Jlo's residency announcement is immediately met with positive reactions while when MC announced hers, she was being doubted and her show was predicted to be a flop.
I don't consider either of them being a threat to Mariah but it irks me when crappy "artists" are treated above Mariah. This channel "Clevver News" on YT, cover all the latest Hollywood news, they are always talking about everyone including Madonna and JLo, but MC is never mentioned. Even JLo's residency has been talked about. I don't understand why people always snub Mariah.

Webmaster (53,251) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Are you sure about the tracklist? Those 3 songs are samples Mariah used in Dreamlover and WBT. [Webmaster: Yes, I am sure about the tracklist. But like I said, the tracklist is wrong. I've told them so and they would correct it. In return I get a coupon for €2.50.]

I hope they are not abandoning the single, because really nowadays more than album sales, single sales gets more highlighted and MC last few singles have vanished without a trace. If they want to re-establish MC's credibility, a hit single is mandatory. I'm not saying she absolutely has to get a #1, I'm just saying that they should attempt to get it to the top 20s. People wouldn't care if a hits compilation album does not do well but if her single bombs, it'll gain be yet another bad mark on her career. This single is the first song from Mariah to kick of her new era, this needs to work. I am also worried about the chart position this week. I am hoping the various appearances next week will help it somewhat. I'm not worried about Pretty Girls, but Taylor Swift is coming with a huge promo plan for Bad Blood. Darn it, just when I thought Taylor Swift was done with her album promo for now.

The new single (53,235) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I was wondering the same Nikki. Although I hope to the good Lord that this is not dubbed a buzz single again. Every single of Mariah's singles starting with Triumphant have been dubbed as a "buzz single" with the exception of #Beautiful. I will even put YM(E) in the buzz single category because aside from a few radio interviews, it didn't have any promotion. Everytime they released a single and it flopped (mainly due to it not being promoted) it was dubbed a "buzz single", a "song only for the fans" and what not. You are also right about the remixes. Not a single word on it or when the video will be released. I don't understand what they are upto. We'll see a lot of Mariah starting next week though, so I hope she has something planned and will actually give this song a fair chance.

American Idol (53,228) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
If Mariah did end up sinking AI (which she didn't and it's ridiculous to even state that), she did the world a favor. That show needed to go down way back. It stopped being about the contestants long time back, what with the Simon-Paula feud, the JLo-Steve clash and what not. So if MC brought down AI, she should be thanked. That show was a waste of airtime either ways. Bye Felicia.

Matt Summers (53,224) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
That is so cool. Brett is a great director. You basically got to meet two of your favorites under one roof haha. I saw a clip uploaded by Gilles on twitter which showed the third take in full. I was wondering what they have in mind for the music videos. Since we now know of six scenarios. One is the scene in front of the dressing table with the bulbs (I forgot what they call it) which is a lot like ISIL, the second is of her sitting on a chaise lounge/divan. The third is of her sitting in front of another mirror, eerily reminiscent of WBT. Fourth is of her walking towards a car and sitting in it, while her partner helps her and then runs to the driver's seat (this is also similar to the WBT end scene). The fifth is shots of her running around with the lights illuminating her hair. Sixth is the shot taken at the Vegas show. So I am curious to know what the total product looks like. I also heard in the clip that Mariah keeps thanking the audience again and again even after the curtains close. She is sweet.

Congrats on your MC music video debut. I keep hearing about the 3 different takes on the music video. Can you please shed some light on it? What exactly did she do? And why were there 3 takes?

American Idol (53,212) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
It's so pathetic of Nigel Lythgoe to now call out Mariah and Nicki for the fall in ratings. I don't blame either of the ladies. The fight was exactly what the team wanted and they got it. Why bring two women either ways when they kept JLo and Paula as sole female judges? They could have just hired either Mariah or Nicki, instead of both. Both of them have a big fan following each so why hire both? Now they are trying to save face and throw mud at the two ladies. How about just keep it classy and say that they had a good run and end the show on a high note. What a tacky move. Good for Mariah and Nicki that they left. Plus the ratings probably fell way before. No one really even cared about JLo as a judge. I don't watch AI, I thought the show needed to end years back. It was getting tiresome plus it has way too many replicas now.

Selfies (53,211) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I love how MC is getting down from the stage and letting her fan take selfies/photos with her while she is performing. The fans are so lucky. If she came and stood next to me singing, I'd either faint right there or I'd try my best to turn my camera on and take a selfie but fail miserably because I'd have a serious case of shaky arms. This era is going pretty well for Mariah. She is quite focused and she is being interactive with the fans. I am unfortunately missing out on the fun but I am glad to see the pictures and videos and audios. Her stage setting looks so elegant and classy. Loving the props she is bringing on stage. Hopefully things keep going well. Next week we'll probably see a lot of MC. The BBMAs (I am so excited), Jimmy Kimmel and Kelly & Michael. I can't wait to see the performances she has lined up. Hoping she chooses some pip ensembles too. Mariah if you need advice, you know where to come dahlin'.
