Yes, nice list. "Hopelessly Devoted to You with ONJ." How I love this song. When it was realesed (I have it on VHS) lol I watched it over and over again. They were both so sweet, and Mariah was so classy while sexy and just fun. Great duet.

The last time I listened to Beyoncé was with Destiney's Child. I loved the group. Then her debut was okay, but not overwhelming for my taste. A good RnB album, but nothing more. I will never understand the hype with that woman. Her music doesn't get my heart, pretty boring. I always preferred Alicia Keys or India Arie when she came out. More soul, more voice.

The SNL performance is one of my favourites too. Mariah at her best.
Stacey, I wish you a good start with your new "family members" the kittens. I'm sure they have a lot of energy. I have a male cat, he's relaxed right now listening to Coffee Time Jazz. Cats have good taste.

"She seemed pretty carefree and happy. The tour was a lot of fun. And I liked that her style was super casual." That's right. It was really a cool time as a fan during that time. I became a fan with Daydream as I often said. "Butterfly" was a big surprise and of course genius, but with "Rainbow" it was just so much fun. She was one of the biggest stars out there, but seemed so humble and sweet. Everyone loved her. Her videos were playing all the time on MTV and VIVA (German music TV). I loved the many specials from her, I still have them on VHS. Lol. Good times.

They were an absolute dreamteam professionally. I wonder if there are still songs from the past which we don't know. I need "Rarities Part two".

Oh my is that sweet. Fantasy and Daydream were the reason I became a fan. So many good memories with "Fantasy". I'll always love the "roller skates" outfit. Is there a chance that it will be on Amazon.de in autumn or by the end of year? I really need this for my living room.

Great question. I love Mariah's covers. I pick "You light up my life" by Debby Boone. I know the original is allready perfect, but I imagine Mariah's voice would also be perfect on it. Evertime I listen to the song I hear Mariah's voice on my mind.

"But she was almost a parody of herself. Absolutely heart breaking." Yes I thought the same. It was not easy to watch. I really wish Mariah would heal from whatever it causes the "problems". She has all the money and time to take care of herself. If she feels so bad, why not take some time without that showbiz circus. And then come back healthy and authentic. I hope she feels better soon. "After every storm a rainbow appears."

No I don't want her to retire. I think you misunderstood what I wrote/meant. I miss real musicians, a real band not just only beats. It has nothing to do with fantasy, it's a matter of taste nothing more. I like "Caution" too but it's not my favourite. If you love "Caution" that's cool. I'm still happy with "The Rarities" and maybe one can hope for a Rarities Part two.

I 100 % agree with everything you said Terna. Love your post.
"Caution", while being a very good record, was vocally not a "Mariah Carey" album. This is so true as well. A Mariah Carey record is something different. "Caution" is fun and nice to listen to but her trademark was missing.
MC could do a "Butterfly Part two" with real musicians and real back-up singers, if she wants to. Even if she hasn't the voice from her power years anymore, she is still Mariah Carey and can create magic with music and lyrics.
An album with RnB, Jazz elements, Retro Soul and yes a fun Pop song would be a great mixture. She is a legend because of the power voice songs and the typical Mariah melodies. She was already a legend at age 26, that's very special and unique. MC is unique on every way and I mean that only positive. Everyone can work with a "hot" producer but no one can do a Mariah Carey album. She's on another league. That's why a lot of people have high expectations' on her. Yes, she broke all records and can do only songs with JD or 5 songs with new rappers, but she could also release a new masterpiece.

"While she was still sexy and classy, but before her over the top Diva kicked in." I totally agree with it. Everyone loved her, not just the fans. During "Butterfly" she was still classy while sexy. When "Rainbow" came out she was always funny and sweet during interviews and her touring around the world. I think the public opinion really changed after "Glitter" and while the beginning of the 00 years. Mariah was always a diva, but in the 90ies it was somehow different. She was so mysterious (in a positive way) so powerful and her voice was out of this world. She seemed so carefree and happy. The people love the natural Mariah. We have enough entertainers in the world (good and bad) but only one Mariah. If she focuses on her talent she could write another hit. But it can't be forced. Not with streams or a new rapper. It must happen naturally.

Article: Debbie Gibson fangirls over Mariah Carey (100,239)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

That's a nice story. 80ies pop is always fun, just feel-good music. I recently discovered "the Midnight" and I thought Mariah could do one song whith synthi-pop beats. ("Blinding Lights" by the Weekend was cool.) Of course Jazz is still my dream genre for Mariah. But one feel-good song would be nice. Luckily we have Glitter with the 80ies sound. She was so ahead of the time.

"The Roof" was written only by Mariah herself. That's what the booklet of her album says. Hmm but I don't know why there's no information about that in the streams. I'm retro.

Her vocals on "After Tonight", "Subtle Invitation" and "Bringin' on the heartbreak" are fantastic. I love them. But I also understand that a lot of her fans didn't like Charmbracelet at first listen. I enjoyed it and still do. "Lullaby" is so cool. The Charmbracelet lyrics are great too. The concert was a real dream come true, I still wish it was available on DVD.

I'm surprised on a positive way. I was a bit "afraid" (if a new version of "The Roof" is needed) because the original is one of my all time favorites from MC. But it really works fine, it has a new vibe, but not too much. I love the violin arrangement. And Brandy did great on the backgrounds. Although I thought we would hear more of her too. All thumbs up for this new version.

"Is it just me or does this sound like a Fantasy remix featuring Latto?" No I thought the same. "Fantasy" is such a stand-out song, one of the best Pop-RnB songs ever. The sample from "Genius of love" was genius by Mariah. What she did with "Fantasy", it's just perfect from beginning to end. The same with the ODB remix. So no matter which new rapper or singer will choose to use Mariah's song, it will always sound good because the original is one of the best. "Fantasy" is and always will be pure Mariah.

I have to say that I love her "old" remixes like Honey, Fantasy, The Roof and especially the "I still believe/pure imagination" remix and many others. That was a time were all remixes were great and sounded new (the House remixes and the Hip-Hop versions).
