About MusicfanJ from Germany: I'm a fan of Mariah since Daydream came out.

Re: Change (99,189) (99,191) by MusicfanJ from Germany
"If she had slowed down between '97 and '99, I think Mariah would've saved her voice." That's what I believe as well. All the touring, concerts around the world, too much for her sensitive voice. Plus she was on every tv-show during the time. Mariah was powering non-stop to show the music world she's the one even without Tommy. That's a drama.

Re: Change (99,165) (99,173) by MusicfanJ from Germany
That's really a good theory. Sounds very logical. If you think about the reason that MC felt like a prisoner, while finally "free", it all started as you mentioned.

Re: Change (99,162) (99,172) by MusicfanJ from Germany
That's very smart from Miss Streisand. I will never understand how a natural beauty like Mariah could risk and loose her voice because of things that were not necessary. I mean if you have the best voice in the world how can you risk it? Of course every day tea sounds boring, and I don't think sometimes a good glass of wine would be super bad for a voice. But smoke and surgery just no. But yes, it is what it is. Sadly.

Re: Uncertainty (99,126) (99,134) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Yeah, I hope so too. The songs from "Butterfly" are so perfect, there should never be a "new arranged version" of these wonderful songs. I'm waiting for new music, not "new" versions of "The Roof". Please not.

Re: Me thinking again (99,051) (99,054) by MusicfanJ from Germany
"Those lyrics and productions must improve dramatically." I hope so too. I don't expect 90ies quality as well, luckily we can listen to those magic songs over and over again. But real musicians would make a big difference indeed. Not only a "cool" producer. One can dream.

Who's loving you / debut era (99,049) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Have you heard this? I think it's just a rehearsal by Mariah and her fabulous background singers at that time. Sounds like year 90. I love it. All her background singers were so great too. They sounded more natural and soulful than Khalil on the new Christmas song.

Re: Probably no likes (99,011) (99,012) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Robert-Anthony you read my mind. I swear I just bought the CD Traveller last week, because I'm addicted to the soulful "Tennessee Whiskey". And just yesterday I was thinking the same. How would it sound if they had a duet song together. Music for "grown-ups" with great lyrics and soul. Mariah and Chris, yes, yes, yes.

Oh I mixed it up. Thanks for the info. And you can really listen to it all year long.

Joy to the world (Celebration Remix) (99,006) by MusicfanJ from Germany
One of her best remixes. And we all know she has many. I also love the video, so much fun. C&C remixes were all so good.

Re: St John The Devine (98,985) (98,990) by MusicfanJ from Germany
"Remembering how natural she used to be, both vocally and in herself." Absolutely, that's the Mariah you could only love. Nobody could compare with her at that time. I will listen to the concert too. What a night at that church in NY. I miss the natural, carefree Mariah. Luckily we can watch it over and over again. Honestly I'm not in a Christmas mood right now (not because it's early, but because of the difficult time) but when I see Mariah at St. John The Devine, it does something to the heart. It's pure joy for the eyes and ears. MC at her best.

Re: Mariah McDonald's (98,918) (98,932) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Mariah and McDonald's, hmm I wouldn't choose it. Her 90ies commercials were cool, I love the japan commercials with the lipstick and Nescafé. Haha. Today it's too much with all that commercials for my taste.

Re: FILAC (98,843) (98,849) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Yes, the first part of the song reminds me of "My All", "After Tonight" too. I enjoy that part after the first listen, but I think at 3:35 minutes it sounds like another song, that's a bit strange. A pop Christmas song and gospel at the end doesn't fit well together. A Christmas song for the radio/streaming and a gospel song for the fans would fit better. But I'm happy to hear something new.

Re: Fall in love at Christmas time (98,822) (98,823) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Oh this is a nice surprise. New music. Sounds promising. Tonight I had dream about Mariah that she would release a new cd called "Kiss" lol. And today there is the news about this new song. Fantastic. Only 4 more days.

Re: Mariah? (98,775) (98,782) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I had to laugh because of Winklevoss. I watched "Social Network" one week ago (great movie). The twins who got fooled by Mark Zuckerberg right? Hmm, now that she made this commercial, I would even prefer it was about new cookies for Christmas. Lol. Yes, she looks nice but I hope it comes the day where it's about music again. I'm not interested on investments.

Re: Easy on me (98,744) (98,751) by MusicfanJ from Germany
"How come a generic piano ballade, quintessential Adele song, with nothing new to offer, get so much praise?" Great post, completely agree. I think you have answered it already. They praise it because 95 % of today's music is sh..., bubblegum at its worst. So this new Adele song sounds indeed like all her others. Nothing special. I like Adele, I have two albums of hers, but I won't buy another one. But there's one thing Adele has an advantage, she has a good image right. No scandals, no diva behavior, there are people outside who prefer that kind of image. I give a thumb up for the classic video. That's rare today too.

Re: Mariah a Christmas act (98,743) (98,745) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Absolutely. And I don't care what teens think about Mariah. Every adult knows her and not because of AIWFCIY. They know her because of her 90ies hits and also because she's one of the diva trinity with Whitney and Celine.

Re: Allure (98,735) (98,736) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Oh yes, I still have videos from the VH1 specials too. They were all great, you're right there must have worked a lamb at that time. It was really a cool time and you could only love Mariah and her music. So fresh, so sweet, so adoreable, I will never forget that time. I esteem those memories.

Re: Allure (98,731) (98,732) by MusicfanJ from Germany
"Crazy how Mariah's sound is instantly recognizable even when she isn't singing." Yes Terna, it's so true. That's her unique MC style that I love so much from day one. Songs from the vault 97-98 are really needed. There must be hidden gems from that era.

Allure (98,726) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I really like this group. I have bought an "ear book" about New York, it has CD's with typical music from the city like Jazz, Swing, RnB, Hip-Hop with three songs from Allure. Very cool. I always hear Mariah when I listen to Allure. I wonder if MC has a song from Allure completely sung by herself. We just need a Rarities part two.

Re: Speaking to the choir (98,724) (98,725) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I was thinking the same. Her songwriting is one reason I became a fan beside her outstanding voice, aura. I love her early lyrics so much and of course the "Butterfly lyrics". I miss those kind of lyrics, that were really poetic. We all know her voice changed, but why those beautiful lyrics? What she created with Walter was magic. I wish she would find another "Walter" a great musician who would inspire her. Than she could do a jazz album or soul-pop album with great lyrics. One can dream.

Re: Marriage (98,709) (98,714) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I was 15 or 16 when I got my first cell phone. Back at the late 90ies. Lol that big, black Nokia one. And luckily there was no Google on it. I understand that Mariah doesn't want cell phones for her kids. But I think all the other kids will show them Google and so on.

Yup, I think he's a very happy man. What parents expect is another thing, but he should live his life like he wants. And I believe that's what he exactly does.

Re: Wish/Could've beens list #1s (98,692) (98,697) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Emotions is really "pure gold". Yesterday I needed comfort through music, so I played her debut, "Emotions" and "Music box". The magic of songs like "Vanishing", "Can't let go", "So blessed", "Til the end of time", "The wind", "AYNAF", "All I ever wanted" and "EFA" are unmatched until today.

Re: Weekend thought (98,683) (98,696) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Wow it's funny that you mention that, I thought the same yesterday as I was listening to "The wind". I always imagine Mariah singing a James Bond song while listening to it.

A "new" Glitter release would be fantastic. But please no more cookies. I hope it's a cool surprise for us all.
