I also love her debut so much. It was so hard to only choose three, so I had to pick others. But the debut also has a special place in my heart.

3 albums (112,211)
by Terna from Nigeria

Easy "Mariah Carey", "Butterfly" and "The Emancipation Of Mimi". These three album are the main anchors in her discography, each detailing very important eras in her journey - Her introduction, growth and freedom, then legend status when she finally gained the respect from the industry. A worthy mention is "Daydream" which is so very important in her journey too, I didn't pick it as it is actually the true beginning of her growth as an artist that culminates with "Butterfly" so these two albums are intertwined to me although very different and honestly her true core and identity as an artist.

I'm still a bit "sad and angry" that the "One sweet day" record got broken. If it was at least an outstanding song, then maybe I could tolerate it. Lol. But with "Old Town Road"? There's nothing special about it to be that long on number one.

Yes, 19 weeks is the all-time record, Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" set it in 2019, and Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" tied it in 2024. "AIWFCIY" is now at 18 weeks, just one week away from matching the record and two from breaking it. She's right on the verge of making making music history.
More than her 19 #1 songs, I was always more obsessed with her keeping the "One Sweet Day" record forever. Every time somebody came close to breaking it, I was on edge, lol. So this one would feel freaking great. I'll stop talking about it though.

Michael Jackson collab (112,209)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
I grew up with "Dangerous", Micheal was the first superstar I had a poster in my room. But "Thriller" is on another level. Quincy Jones and Michael were the best duo. They made music history, no one will ever come close. Alone the hit singles Beat It, Thriller and Billie Jean make the album outstanding. Billie Jean is my all time favourite. I can't sit still when I hear the first seconds of the song. And yes the live version of it when he showed the moonwalk for the first time, I can only imagine how that changed everything. Funny side note, as a little kid I always wanted to watch the full "Thriller" video on MTV. I finally were allowed to watch it with my mum. I loved it, but of course I was so scared of the zombies and Michael at the end. Lol. The dance is more than iconic, and can go on and on with praising. Michael was simply the best when it comes to entertaining and singing. He and the King of Rock and Roll changed everything.

I remember growing up in 1983 and Thiller and MJ merchandise was in every retail store imaginable. People were just obsessed with the album. His performance of Billie Jean and the moonwalk dance on the Motown 25th Anniversary special just solidified Thiller's success that year.

For me almost every MJ-song is a classic. From his debut to "Bad" every song is classic and perfect. The Dangerous album has a lot of classics too. How I miss his music. "You're not alone" with Mariah would be a dream duet too. But there are so many possibilities. The King of Pop with the Queen. I hope the hidden song will be released one day.

I remember the 25th Anniversary of Thriller, I ran to Target the day it come out to buy it. I still have it but haven't played it in a while. It is such a good album. Thriller would've been my first pick too for a collaboration. I think MJ has quite a few songs that would be considered classic, not just one or two.

A playlist I use as a secret weapon for pulling people deeper into MC's discography. It's a thrill seeing them secretly shazam it. It's made up of non-single deep cuts from each of Mariah's album (excluding holiday):
1. Vanishing (MC) 2. So Blessed (Emotions) 3. Music Box (MB) 4. Underneath The Stars (Daydream) 5. Close My Eyes (Butterfly) 6. Bliss (Rainbow) 7. Reflections (Glitter) 8. The One (Charm) 9. Joy Ride (TEOM) 10. Love Story (E=MC2) 11. Inseparable (MOAIA) 12. Dedicated (MIAMTEC) 13. One Mo' Gen (Caution) 14. Nothing Is Impossible (HFIA)
Curious what would yours look like?

by MusicfanJ from Germany

Absolutely. All the long time fans/lambs did buy her new music. So it's not because of "us" that it sold weaker than "Caution". Casual listeners don't care at all for her nowadays, that's it. The teens have there own "stars", so what's left are her long time fans. I also like "HFIA" better than "Caution". Yeah, maybe a gospel or jazz album could generate more listeners because it's a special genre.

Saying the "lambs" never support or show love to her evee is unfair. The truth is, there just aren't that many of us left in the US anymore. We've always shown up for her. She sold what she sold because of that loyalty. Unfortunately, the casual listeners don't seem as interested these days, and they're the ones who really drive major album sales. Personally, I bought one copy, gifted another to my sister, and still stream it from time to time.

Falsetto (112,074)

The song grows on me by each listen. It's such a beautiful song. The best on the album with "My Love" and "Nii". I love the piano, her voice on it and even the change to the "praise" part. Such a special song. It was good to name the album after this song, Mariah knew why. The album brings so much joy.

Falsetto (112,065)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
That falsetto note Mariah is hitting at the end of "Here for it all" during the "you got to praise him" verse is amazing, because I don't think I have ever heard Mariah do a falsetto like that ever. Patti Labelle and Beyonce are the queens of falsetto notes in my opinion and that falsetto reminded me so much of Patti. Mariah should have done more especially in her prime. Monica is another who is known for them as well. "Here for it all" is the favorite song on the album by most of the people I know. I think it's her best ballad since "Portrait" but "Portrait" is still my favorite.

Mariah already has a new concert booked in the middle east for early February next year. I don't understand, does she need the money that bad? Or is her so called team going to run her into the ground like Amy Winehouse? Either way, the lamb followers are going to make excuses and call it a "one off" or "just for the fans" but the truth is these enablers are going to end up killing her.

Which song would've you picked? (112,056)

I always thought Mariah should write and sing a NYC themed song. Like the "Empire State of Mind". Just for fun, imagine a Sinatra cover from New York, New York. I remember a little clip from a restaurant in Italy where she sung some parts of this famous song in 2003 or 2004.

Which song would've you picked? (112,038)
by Lambi from USA

Felt like the wrong choice but I guess Mariah really is "New York" as JD said. She is hip-hop. From this data, not counting the 3 singles just to even out the playing field (they were out longer and had better launchpads), lambs daily streamed In Your Feelings and Mi the most.
Lighty said NII could've been this album's TTR and I agree, not sure if Mariah will go with a ballad as the launching single ever again but I still hope she does something special with it. Countries like Brazil and Philippines love ballads and this was a solid one.
But out of the 3 singles, I felt Sugar Sweet was the strongest. It's the better melody. It would've been awkward launching an album with 2 other ladies so I see why she didn't pick that. It's actually quite a dilemma picking the first single, maybe I'll come back and change my answer.

Hi Lambily (112,033)
by Gabrielle Demetriou from UK
| |
|
|
I wanted to share something that's lived in my heart for years - the day I met Mariah Carey in Manchester on March 18, 2016.
I was heavily pregnant at the time, and what unfolded that evening has stayed with me ever since. Mariah was radiant - regal and real - surrounded by warmth, laughter, and that unmistakable glow that only she has. When she turned to me and asked about me, it was one of those rare, human moments that you never forget.
I wrote a reflection called "Here For It All" - a personal piece about that meeting, how her music has shaped my life across generations, and what it means to me as a mother to pass that love on to my daughters.
Mariah's music has been the golden thread through my life - in joy, heartbreak, and everything in between. She's been my comfort and my courage, and writing this felt like a love letter to the woman whose songs have always been there. Please comment whether you'd like to see the unpublished story.

I Won't Allow It probably has the most potential. It's fun. It's dance. It's silly. It's relatable. There's so many good songs but the lead single should be a fun uptempo. Just my two cents.

I think that because Mariah grew up dirt poor, moving around 13 times and vividly remembering being kicked out of homes by Patricia's various boyfriends, those unstable experiences during her critical formative years likely shaped her brain development and sense of security. It makes sense that she now fully embraces the stability and comfort that come with a wealthy lifestyle.

Everything has a price. But health should be more worth, important than a luxurious lifestyle. How many things can one person buy, owe, which is really needed. Does all the things really make her happy? I don't think so. She's extreme wealthy since 90 when she was 20 and she'll never be poor again. She can relax. At a certain age, you should realize that health and taking care is more important than all the bling-bling.

I think with her luxurious lifestyle, she probably does. Nick Cannon said it costs Mariah $150-200k just to step out of the house. That's ranging from security, hair, make up, jets. I won't even start with the price tags of her wardrobe and jewelries. It's safe to assume she lives extremely large.

But "still maximizing the workload" is not healthy at all. You'll get a burn-out or depression, illness sooner or later. I hope after Christmas Mariah really is slowing down, having a wonderful holiday and time off. If Mariah can't take a break for herself then who can? And if Mariah won't talk about the reason behind "her stiffness" the people won't stop the speculating. Of course it's her private choice not to talk about it, but people always speculate even if you are a "normal", non-famous person. I always thought it started with her shoulder arm-accident. But I don't know, I just hope she'll recover completely or at least without pain.

It's true and it all stems from Mariah's incredible work ethic.
"I always felt like the rug could be pulled from under me, and I was afraid that if I didn't work twice as hard as everybody else, everything I worked hard for in my life would be gone and I'd be back living in a little shack."
Also after being a mother, I'd assume her desire to work amplified. She's still pushing herself, still maximizing the workload with whatever energy she has left.

The video shouldn't be used for international politics. Not for any side of the crisis spot (with religion and horror). It doesn't suit. It's a personal Mariah song and should show Mariah or like in the "Trough the Rain" video some actors with a nice little story about a part of her life.

Hostage release Nothing Is Impossible (111,862)
by Geronimo from USA

That would be utterly ridiculous - although, I am afraid Mariah would probably go for it with her ahistorical self.
The better video for Nothing is Impossible would show the indigenous people returning to their home despite an international effort to remove them from the face of the planet and give their land to genocidal settlers.
