Rainbow's End vocals (106,703)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|

To me it seems brand new. What do the other lambs think? I can't get this song out of my head since yesterday. The new vocals are really good. The song is very uplifting, it feels indeed like a 70ies disco song except for the house parts by Mr. Morales. Mariah and David Morales are always a great working duo. I love all the remixes by him.

Lee, I thought the same with the demo. I like the Mariah only version, but it's funny. I've listenend to the original so many times (since it came out in 99) that I still hear Joe at the second part on the "new" Mariah only version. The human brain does funny things.

The Mariah Only TGIFY sounds to me like it was always intended to have featured artists. The new Mariah vocals sound like demo cuts of Mariah indicating what she wants the featured artist to sing.

Just some Dolly Parton facts (106,610)

Dolly is wonderful. Her song "9-5" is my office song lol. I love the lyrics of it. That she is spending a lot for social projects is something I like too. Plus her humour. A real legend, this lady.

Just some Dolly Parton facts (106,607)
by Robert-Anthony from United States

Dolly will release album #50 on November 15th. Her last album was released on November 17, 2023. She began her career in 1955. This lady looks like she is 50 years old right now. Dolly does not slow down. Everyone loves Dolly Parton. This last fact really made me laugh. Her own label is called Butterfly Records. How funny is that?

The-Dream (106,603)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
It's really disgusting. But I don't think it's just because of the money and fame. A bad character stays a bad character, the same with a good one, with or without money. But if a bad person gets fame it's easier to treat other people wrong for sure. I won't listen to the songs like before. It spoils my joy while listening. I hope MC won't work again with him, there are better producers out there anyway.

I guess MC won't be working with The-Dream anymore after these allegations. I don't understand why music producers like R.Kelly, Sean "Diddy" Combs", and The-Dream allow fame and money to overtake their moral judgement to use and mistreat women in such horrific ways. No heart emoji today.

Portrait and "Giving me life" are my favourites from "Caution". So I was super excited of the new remix. And wow, it is indeed genius. I love everything about it. That's the Mariah I was missing. It has the Butterfly remix vibe and something new. Mariah sounds carefree and is showing that she has still the "fire". The background chorus is wonderful too. It sounds like the good old days but also new and fresh. I just love it.

This song checks all the boxes for me. I absolutely love it, I have been playing these remixes non stop since the release. This is the kind of music that we need right now, reminiscent of her body of work. Pure genius. Also, I love Mariah’s speaking voice and so glad they sometimes use it in her songs. Everyone should be in ecstasy with these Hopeful Child remixes. My only complaint is that the Hopeful Child remix, 16 min 20 sec, is not long enough.

Yes, I like it too. Plus I'm happy that this time the lyrics are clean. Lol. For me it sounds like a song that could be on the MOAIA album. So now I'm ready for a real surprise for the next song. Jazz, pop or a song from the Ugly Daughter sessions? However please Mariah only next time.

Muni and Mariah remix (106,470)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
I like it. I don't love it (yet). It could have been on any Mariah album, very reminiscent of other JD and BMC Mariah songs like [We belong together] and [Don't forget about us]. I will definitely be hearing this over the original (same like I do with Yes, And and Big Energy). Mariah sounds good, I wish it were a little longer. I mean we all knew exactly what the song sounds like anyway and with the [Billboard] remix rule, we weren't up for any surprises. I'd have liked to hear a Mariah only chorus like we heard in the clips. Robert Anthony, history shall have to wait. They do sound good together though.

I see it the same way. Why doing a duet for Christmas even on the album with her mum, if she's so bad? It makes no sense at all. Personally I wish they are fine or at least okay.

by Edward from USA

I'm not buying any of it. You don't record a duet with someone you portray as a bad parent in an interview. When Mariah started her Christmas shows at Beacon Theater, I personally witnessed the strong relationship they had. It wasn't just for show, Tommy wasn't involved, and her mother wasn't even on stage. She was simply there to support Mariah. After the show ended, I saw them hugging and being very affectionate.
Mariah's mother was never depicted as exploiting Mariah for money, yet there's ample evidence of Mariah experiencing severe mental strain, culminating in a nervous breakdown during the "Glitter" era. According to Mariah, she just needed rest - indeed, she needed some 911 rest alright.

Influence - Dem Teens (106,365)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

"Monroe, North and Blu Ivy will rule the world one day." I don't think so. But they are lucky, they will never need to do a normal 9-5 job. They can be creative even if there will be no or less success. Maybe one day we will get a duet with Monroe and Mariah. That would be sweet.

Now that Dem Babies are officially Dem Teens (which blows my mind), I wonder if they'll have an influence on Mariah evolving her sound to a new youthful sound and experimental direction? Especially now that Monroe is showing an interest in [music] and hangs out with North West. Monroe, North and Blu Ivy will rule the world one day.

I'm sure it sounds good, because that was a time were pop music still had melodies while sounding fresh and were radio friendly. I even remember his sister, she had a few hits too. I'm a big soul and jazz fan, but a good pop song is always a win. I can't wait to hear it.

Why is there no JD on Butterfly? (106,305)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
| |

We know why there is no JD on Glitter and Memoirs. But why didn't MC record any tracks with JD for Butterfly. Was she exclusively seeking a New York hip hop and rap sound that only New York and East coast producers could only have given her? Was she paying homage to her home city with the Butterfly album? Maybe that is what she needs to do for MC16 is to focus on a New York sound with a live band. Go back Proctor's Theater and SNL to promote the album.

Will the Mariah Carey story ever be told? (106,306)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
I really wish there would be a part two in the future. Mariah is still such a mystery. In the 90ies even more, but yes "Looking in" really comes to my mind everytime I think of the one and only Mariah. I guess her book didn't tell a lot of new things for fans. I really would like to know more things. Topics could be about New York, the music biz, how it's like to be a global legend, maybe tell a hidden hobby. Is there a favourite project that hasn't been completed right now? Things of that nature.

A Daydream release in 2024 (106,263)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
Yey, I don't get the hype too. Perhaps it's because there is almost no competition. Rihanna and Beyoncé are more entertainers too than singers with a wow effect. When I think of the 90ies, Whitney, Mariah, Céline. They were really the vocal trinity. I'm so thankful that I witnessed the golden years. The same with the male singers. Can you imagine an earth song today like Michael did back then in 95 or 96? The popular music scene has become so boring except some rare newcomers.

People remember Mariah songs too. Maybe not Heartbreaker, but Vision of Love, Emotions, Dreamlover, Hero, Without You, Fantasy and Always be my Baby are deep on the minds of almost everyone if they think of Mariah. I mean the grown-ups not the kids or teens. Nothing against Mary J. Blidge [sic], but that she will be on that Hall and Mariah not is a joke. A bad one. I don't get it. It's cool that you're back.

Not surprised (106,258)
by Randy from USA

I just think Mary is more respected in the industry and that culturally Mary represents something for soul music. People take her seriously. Mariah is great for a throwback, a whistler, a relic to be thawed out each November. I think these perceptions is where Mariah's image hurts her. I remember one of my Whitney fans responses to my dig that Mariah had more number ones. He said "People remember Whitney songs." I wonder how many non-fans know the difference between Fantasy, Heartbreaker and Honey. Anyway, I'm back. Did ya'll miss me? P.S. I was more shocked that Sinead, Sade didn't get in. P.P.S. How messy would it be if Madonna inducted Cher lol.

Lenny Kravitz Human (106,243)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

I just heard his new song on the radio. What a cool song with a good and positive vibe with lyrics which are clean and not vulgar. Plus a real melody. Thanks to Mr. Kravitz that he brings back music that is music and not just "modern noise". I don't know if he and Mariah are really dating, but I would love a true duet from them both. Forget Bruno Mars and Co. Mariah and Lenny would rock and roll. And we could get a duets album.

Since I'm celebrating MB30 endlessly , I'm still amazed and always will about AYNAF. One of her best songs for sure. Mariah at her best, the melody, the lyrics and the outstanding voice that touches my heart until today. The Price sisters were wonderful too.
On a side note: I love Mariah's stage presence. I've seen her four times and everyone was enchanted. She's not an entertainer but her aura is magical. She was rocking the Charmbracelet tour and the Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour. Of course many others too, I just mentioned the ones I visited. With the Vegas concerts, I also think it's not really Mariah's thing. She needs to be creative again (in the future) as someone allready said. Mariah will surprise us, I'm sure.

by Shezz from Pk

The fan account did say the next day it was an April Fools thing. The insider account says she is set to make her long awaited come back this month. I hope that means a single, not her Vegas residency because she has been performing. Also, the insider says MC16 is a return to pop for MC with a lot of uptempo, disco and euro dance numbers. I hope that's true. She's not gotten anywhere with her midtempo RnB for a while now. Butterfly Lounge on the other hand is a total jazz project. How exciting is that? I have a feeling she will drop something soon either right before or right after Vegas.
