1. Make It Look Good
2. Make It Look Good
3. Make It Look Good
4. Make It Look Good
5. Make It Look Good
But seriously, after MILG my order would be "Beautiful", "You Don't Know What to Do", "Money" and "Dedicated".

Top 5 - Badr (44,768) by Adam from US
I really do love this album. I liked Badr's post about Top 5. So I thought I'd post my top 5.
5) "Thirsty"
4) "Meteorite"
3) "Make It Look Good"
2) "You Don't Know What To Do"
1) "Faded"
It's hard to have a top 5 right now, because I still really enjoy them all. I am not a huge fan of "One More Try", but it's not Mariah, I never really cared for the original. The only song that I've skipped and not listened to has been "Camouflage" and I don't know why. I think I've been too upbeat listening to the others, lol. I really do wish they'd release a single. It needs something to make people buy it.

Mariah's photo (44,767) by Ken from USA
Maybe she was looking through old photos with dem babies? I don't think Mariah will ever address this though.

Bad promotion (44,766) by Liz Archer from Sweden
I am never going to get hold of that bottle (not that I am interested in its content) but its just a bad idea. I doubt that bottle is going to be available internationally, so its really not a very good promotional tool since it's only for the US.

Mariah (44,765) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
The picture Mariah posted with Nick and dembabies for Father's Day is so cute. Mariah looks beautiful. Nowhere near 44. And about the picture that two fellow lambs have been saying is from 1997 or 2008, if it's true what on earth is going on? I thought it was recent because I probably missed the pic on Oprah but are you guys sure? Then it's really weird. If not then MC is really getting her great looks back. Plus apart from that she still looks great in the black gown and the new family pic, so I am happy for her since she is usually so image conscious. At this point I am trying to take JD's words that there is still a plan for Chanteuse and so I will try (try dahlin try) to not complain about the lack of promotions.

The Elusive Chanteuse (44,764) by Badr from USA
I have been listening to Mariah's Elusive Chanteuse album, and I'm enjoying it. I was just curious to know what your top 5 favorite songs are, and perhaps your least favorite one. My top 5 includes:
1. #Beautiful
2. One More Try
3. You Don't Know What to Do
4. Heavenly
5. Money
Least favorite song: "Supernatural" is simply cheesy, imho.

Play Mariah's promo game (44,763) by nikki from usa
Ok, so you release an album as a body of work. You sacrifice sales by not promoting it or releasing singles just so the album will be listened to as a "whole". Now, that it's out how will you promote it? If it's supposed to be a story then will each song have a music video that leads into the next like a music video movie? An entire concert with a themed backdrop? A tour? She could sing the album one song at a time per talk show. Start on Lettermen with Cry and end on BET with Heavenly. Or maybe, she'll do that without the talk shows and have different backdrops where she sings it live: start at The Carlyle and end at an ancient cathedral. We'll need her beverage just to see all this shit.

How to solve a problem like Billboard (44,762) by nikki from usa
Since firing Roger, they seem to be over run by complete chauvinists or Madonna fans it's hard to say. They're asking the opinions of people who've briefly worked with other artists and Vanessa Williams? She was famous for 2 years and fell off the planet 20 year ago. I met Mariah for 42 seconds, maybe they'll interview me next. "Provide her with material." Apparently, none of them are aware MC co-writes and produces her own music since the dawn of time. Basically, their advice is to retire or put herself out to pasture because she needs a man to make her a star. Amazingly, not one of them mentioned any common sense reason such as not bothering to promote the album, pushing it back 5 times, or promoting a single didn't come into play. I can see why those men aren't known for much. As far as I'm concerned this is in the same vein as calling a song a ''radio flop" that was never sent to radio. If Mariah had done her usual promo, didn't have 20 push backs, had label support, and her album flopped then you might think MC's lost her shine. But, under MC's circumstances no one's album would've done well. I get it now. This is a "body of work" and an "artists" album. Sacrificing sales for her art. This just supplies more fuel for a future tour-like promo.

Did I Do That (44,761) by Skip from United States
Lol to Bill from UK. I have never liked "Did I Do That?" either. Although I will find myself singing lyrics from it now and then. "Conversations painfully weak, you were much better off when you didn't speak." I love that. But yeah, the song. Not so much. But seek out the DJ Stylz Remix of that song, it actually makes the song good. Production is everything.

My opinion (44,760) by B from USA
E=MC2 sold a million copies and was certified platinum. Memoirs sold half a million copies and was certified gold. I think this system needs to be changed to reflect the current state of the recording industry. Albums don't sell like the used to.

Harsh / nonsense article and hope (44,759) by Badr from USA
"Carey's last real hit album was 'The Emancipation of Mimi' in 2005." Whether we accept it or not, E=MC2 sold very well in its first week, was certified Diamond, and included a Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit and a top 20. Not too shabby. "But 'Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel' (2009) had no hit singles." Excuse me, but "Obsessed" picked at #7 and was certified Diamond. Mariah may not be as "hot" as in the 1990s, but she's been able to deliver. JD did somehow set things straight, although that implied blaming Mariah. JD also says there's a plan fot The Elusive Chanteuse. I wish Mariah would vindicate this album and herself.

Thirsty / the drink (44,758) by Tiina from Finland
I think it could have worked if Thirsty would have been a real single (I'm not sure if it was even though it was released) and Mariah would have made a steamy video for it, Dita Von Teese style, sitting in a massive coctail glass, doing a burlesque inspired video. That would have been appropriate for the song and she could have had fun with it doing her usual sexy thing. Just imagine the cool single artwork and all that jazz. Then if she would have come out with her drink as part of the promotion for the single, now that would have made sense and she could have gained some momentum. Just thinking loud here.

The mess and the bottle (44,755) by Elena from The Netherlands
Since the label doesn't want to spend any money to promote MIAMTEC, MC is desperately trying to still be in the spotlights and she's doing so by being involved with this Butterfly drink. She had her CD's right there on the table, but you really had to watch close to notice it in the press conference. It's like she's working around the label to get her music on the map. She is trying to keep her head above water with alle her endorsement projects. For what? To maintain the entourage that cost a lot to keep. She has a strong winners mentality and refuses to believe that her game is over. While I appreciate that about her, it's still important to look critically at yourself to realize why your game is over and from there turn it around. Simply by getting back to what matters most to her. Her music. Let go of sales and nr. 1's. MIAMTEC is really good. How about her doing some live acoustic mini concert of some of those songs through Facebook with some really good vocal improvisions and let it go viral. Maybe a surprise rendition of a popular song. All in an intimate setting, no big hair, no cleavage, no gowns. Just her and some musicians, stripped down. Remember her doing Love Story for MTV as part of promo for E=MC2. That was amazing. It could bring her back on the map to an adult audience like Adele. Jimmy Fallon does those Broadway versions of rap songs in his show. How great would she be doing that? It's all about doing the right thing at the right time at the right place. For everyone who says that no one says anything about Gaga or Rihanna when they do something weird and when MC does she gets picked on, well, they came out being a certain way and are famous because of that image. Mariah is famous for her voice. And she happens to be drop dead gorgeous and a humble human being. She almost doesn't need anymore than that to succeed. Almost, because she still needs a team around her to convince her of that, and that's what she doesn't have right now. I hope when she leaves IDJ she'll take back what she deserves and make sure she has the right people to help her get that. Her fans care enough to actively discuss this matter on a messageboard. She really should stay connected with the fans, not with the image, charts, label or sales. In the end I believe that makes her happier than anything businesswise. By the way, why not just launch a social network for the fans as an extension of the Honey B Fly initiative? Why do we have to gain access through a drink? Do we have to keep buying new bottles to gain access to new stuff or can we buy just one bottle? Why buy it when you can scan the bottle in the store and get access anyway? I don't understand the link between buying a drink to get to a social network. It doesn't make sense to me. We might as well pay subscription to the social network without that extra sugar that we don't need.

Brad Catoe (44,754) by Jenny from South Africa
Hear hear. I totally agree. I'm just happy she gave me such an amazing album to listen to and thoroughly enjoy more and more each time I play it. I didn't become a fan of Mariah because she was so popular but because I connected with her music. And I connect with MIAMTEC so I'm happy.

Daydream327 (44,753) by Jenny from South Africa
Actually that tweet about quality time with dembabies had 4 pictures with it, the one with just Mariah, one of Monroe smiling, one of Roc in the bath, and one of the twins watching Enchanted. So I personally don't think it was a strange tweet at all. It was a very sweet set of pictures.

Twitpics (44,752) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I saw the recent pics on twitter. She is looking good and has she gotten slimmer? The pictures of her in the hot tub, then the one in the black gown and the one in the white tank top, her face seems to have gone back to the original shape. And is she wearing the same black gown she wore for the BET performance of YME? She looks better in it now that she did at that point, although I would really appreciate if she kept the other twins covered for a while.

Did I do that?! (44,751) by Bill from the UK
For some reason unbeknownst to me, I have been unable to get my most despised of Mariah's songs, Did I Do That, out of my head. Well, it's third in my worst ever list behind Boy and More Than Just Friends. Funny how sometimes you can really lose your mind and do things you would never do. It's been on repeat (yes MILG has been ousted for the time being lol) and I've grown to love the Rainbow album more than ever lately. I gotta get me some sleep.

Take time off to come back to earth? (44,750) by Trish from USA
It's not the music, it's the image and work ethic. I love the new album, the lyrics lack for me on the ballads, but other than that there are at least 6 songs that I listen to over and over again, but I can't take the interviews, and the lack of being somewhat down to earth. My advice to Mariah is tone it down, let it be about the music not the cleavage, and let people see how intelligent you are and how amazing you are at singing and song writing. I wish she would challenge herself and work with other songwriters who are really good at what they do too, Smokey, Stevie, Paul, Walter, Elton John, Billy Joel, for the sole purpose of making good music that's on her level. Shoot she's above all the legends I just named.

A fan, up to a point (44,749) by Paul D from USA
I bought Mariah's latest album two weeks ago and I'm listening to it everyday. That's all I care about. She is likely going through some things, and there's no promotion. So I don't care either. As mean as it sounds, I don't care about her family, her products, her movies, any of that stuff. She is a singer/songwriter/producer, and if she's not doing those things, I don't care about it. Now, back to listening the album.

Current state of the music business (44,748) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Times really have changed. We're in an era where even next-in-line veterans like Alicia, Beyoncé, Britney, and Christina are already struggling to get hits. It just shows how much the industry has changed these past few years. Everything seems to be of the "go big (contoversial stunts and spectacles, where gimmicky or tacky is the bar) or go home" mantra. This is a generation whose mentality is "here and now", therefore, people don't care about your history, as long as you're making hits. Even great material doesn't speak for itself anymore. Never has the train been faster and more unforgiving than it is today. And runaway blockbuster successes of epic proportions such as Adele's are really just that rare. As if that weren't hard enough, God forbid you're a woman in your mid-40s who's currently widely regarded as a has-been trying to get back in the game. And if you're as scatter-minded as 2014 Mariah, you're pretty much done. Even Madonna had to feature current artists in the lead tracks of her past 2 albums to speak to a younger audience. Both landed in the top 10, but all succeeding singles barely even made a blip. Today's industry can be summarized in 3 simple but harsh realities: 1) if you're old, you have to work 10x harder than the younger ones do to stay relevant, which most likely entails desperate measures; 2) if you're not out there, then why even bother?; and 3) if you're not charting, it's not that you're not doing enough - you're just not doing anything, period.

Mariah's recent Twitter photo (44,747) by Daydream327 from USA
I think we've all noticed that Mariah has been acting a bit "off" lately but I think her recent twitter photo has confirmed that something just isn't right. It reads: "quality time with dembabies.. so much happiness". Mind you, this is an old photo from years ago when she was on the Oprah show, I'm guessing 2008? And what's even weirder is that dembabies are not even in the photo. Now people have caught on to this old photo. I'm actually concerned lambs. I really don't know what to think at this point. Meanwhile, Nick is somewhere filming a movie. I mean is he ever home? I just don't like him, at all. I really feel for Mariah.

What on earth is going on? (44,746) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Clearly, the reason why everyone is flipping out on this new drink is because it just seems to have come out of nowhere. And it's not even a health drink for that matter. It's probably the worst product yet that she has put her stamp on. Fans have been in the dark for so long, leaving them with no other option than to come up with wildly imaginative theories (that unfortunately may very well be true) just to explain the biggest mess yet in her professional life. A stint on a terrible show, an epic feud, a bunch of questionable performances, and a string of generally bad interviews definitely won't help save an image that's been tainted since 2008. A great album flops really hard and all promotion seems to have stopped, except some occasional reminders on Facebook or Twitter which clearly isn't enough. And then a product not anyone has ever even thought Mariah would endorse let alone co-create suddenly pops up at a time when she should be promoting her latest release that's most likely gonna be out of the charts worldwide before the end of the month. Minus the breakdown, this is shaping up even worse than the Glitter era. You know something's horribly wrong when your current album barely outsells your last holiday album and even worse, sells half of what is widely considered the nadir of your career. Even more so if you started out as, made it big as, and are still best known as a singer.

Is she stuck? (44,742) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Just read probably the most unfavorable review for MIAMTEC so far. Forgot the source, but it's not a blog. It was given a C-. The reviewer praised Mariah's vocal ability, but also deemed the music not bad by any measure, but not really very good either. He explained how pop culture in music has evolved in the past 5 years at a pace faster than it has decades before, and that the problem is that Mimi seems to refuse to catch it. I was disappointed by the low score, but I kinda agreed with him on some points. At first I was like, "She's great at what she does, even if she essentially repeats herself every album except for few genre-flirts here and a few tweaks there - but she shouldn't change her style for anyone or follow any trend." Not saying he's right, but further thought got me realizing that maybe it won't hurt her to be more wildly experimental, as innovation is the game these days. She can still do R&B and hip-hop, but in bolder ways like post-1993 Mariah who popularized the use of samples and 1995 Mariah who created the thug love duet. Not necessarily coming up with something new, but coming up with something different (who thought Royals/Blurred Lines/Drunk In Love would be hits?), or at least going against what people already expect from her. A career like hers warrants her the right to do anything creatively, even at the risk of alienating some fans, which she has already done to some extent anyway. I fear that if she doesn't, the game will just leave her behind.
