Wow, Lee. You kind of ruined the song for me now. I'm horrified by little chilldren in horror movies. I've never for one second thought that Supernatural was sounding creepy. I'm just going to have to pretend I've never read your post when I'm listening to that song now. It's not my gaborite track on the album, but I think it's really cute, MC sings beautiful here and I don't want to skip it. Oh dear, it's very controversial, that post of yours on this board.

Lee, it's not really fair to tell somebody to not buy/download a song because they're put off by the obscenities in the lyrics. Plenty of us have children and have to monitor what songs are played or simply don't appreciate that kind if language, whether it comes from the mouth of the rapper du jour or Mary Poppins herself. #Beautiful is a great song. I like the structure, Miguel's caramel vocal tone, the instrumentation, the guitar, the driving beat, the theme, the vocal arrangements, to me it is a fantastic song and one of the freshest sounds Mariah has released in a long time. I'm not going to fold my arms stubbornly and miss out on it, but if there is the option of a clean and explicit version, I can choose the clean. I'm not anti-censorship in the slightest, but my character and background just doesn't appreciate the "n word" being bandied about freely, and I won't be alone in feeling like that, so the choice should always be there.

This may sound controversial but to me this song is quite sinister. The voices of Roc and Roe gave me chills but not the good kind. I feel like I am in a horror movie when I listen to this song. I have tried to get over this by listening to it a number of times on a loop but now I am left feeling like this is a song that would be played at a child's funeral, especially the last minute or so. It really gives me the terror goosebumps.

There are only 2 songs I actually enjoy on this album. Make it Look Good and #Beautiful. I enjoy It's A Wrap and Betcha Gon Know but as we know, they were not meant for this album. It just feels like an album full of fillers instead of an album full of singles. I had high expectations of this album but it has fallen short for me. I had high hopes for One More Try but it just didn't take me anywhere.

I had great joy when I woke up this morning and saw the album already downloaded and ready for a listen on my iTunes. To be completely, I almost forgot about it, but I guess that just because it was early haha. Anyway, I really like One More Try but the only thing that's keeping me from it is emotion. I'm really not feeling the emotion in her voice. Also, anyone else noticed how Cry. is the only track to have her vocals be a bit "rough"? I agree with the album showing a glimpse of Mariah and Nick's marriage. A fan asked her on twitter whether there are any songs on the album about Nick and she answered with "always keep the inspirations behind my songs vague". I don't think this album is very subtle at all.

I don't understand your dilemma. Why not listen to the songs the way they were written and meant to be heard? If you don't want to listen to the swear words then just skip those songs. I don't understand the point in having swear words covered up in songs (especially if you as a listener know what the word being covered up is supposed to be). Knowing the word and not hearing it, is the same as hearing it as you know what it is. If for some reason that makes you uncomfortable then don't download those songs. I am against censorship of any kind. I think a warning should be given that explicit lyrics are present and then you as an adult should make the informed decision as to whether or not you are going to listen to it.

I feel like the only person who hasn't heard the album yet. Today is going to drag, but thankfully it's hot in Phoenix so I can swim and have some Coronas to get my mind off the wait. Enough about me, I'm glad so many of you are enjoying MIAMTEC. It's def calmed the board down huh.

MIAM clean/explicit and Nick (44,119)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
I have a Spotify account so have been streaming the album for most of the day. I haven't seen the clean version on the iTunes UK store, so I'm holding out purchasing the album until such a time. I actually cancelled my pre-order, because as somebody said here, the older I get, the more I find the cursing somewhat immature and offensive. I get it's a culture thing but Mariah is a good enough songwriter to not fill her lyrics with curse words. Not sure who she's trying to impress lol. Anyway, as for the album being about Nick, I doubt she'd be so brazen as to cuss out her husband on her new album, especially as she writes in the notes how her family is a "treasure", that was so lovely to read. She has truly been blessed with her twins and a husband who is clearly besotted with her.

I'm having the same problems, not sure which version to get tomorrow. I already have TAOLG but don't mind having the MOAIA tracks on there, though not necessary. Decided against the Target one in spite of the cool cover lol. At least we have all day to decide.

Well it's a wrap (44,116)
by Danny Cedar from uk

I am pretty sure now the entire album is telling us whats going on between Mariah and Nick, if you listen to the lyrics of each song. And she has said previously it's a journey. Even to how the album is sequenced and the reasons The Wrap and Betcha Gon Know are included and the parts with Mary at the beginning, Mariah has never been so subtle. Also One More Try is very appropriate. I'm obvously speculating but I wouldn't be surprised taking into account Mariah's childhood they are keeping up appearances for dem babies and this is her outlet. Might be wrong.

Hey guys, maybe someone here might know. Why is it that the deluxe version on items for Mariah's new album state "mastered for iTunes" but not with the standard versions. Is there a difference?

Clean version or explicit version? (44,113)
by Johnny from United States
| |
|
|
I'm having trouble deciding which version to pre-order. I just switched my iTunes account over to the UK store to listen to the explicit version's snippets. I really don't like the use of the "n" world in "Money" and I don't like the "f" word in "#Beautiful" and "YDKWTD". It's weird but the older I get the less I want to hear that kind of cursing in my music. I'm also still not sure to go deluxe or not. I already have "The Art of Letting Go" that I plan on adding to the album. I listened to the two remixes and I'm just not sure if it's worth it. What do you guys think?

I've just been checking up on the chart positions and MIAM is currently outside the Top 10 in the UK at #11, however it is only release day and I'm sure it will climb. Amazon UK now have a 7-11 day wait on the UK deluxe edition. This is great news as it shows it's selling.

by Musti from UK

I've been holding myself back from listening to the preview on iTunes. I've downloaded my pre-order this morning and just completed my first listen. I am amazed. There is a mature sound all over the album. Her singing is impeccable. Some songs find her going timbral, truly taking on the character she's portraying. Cry is a perfect opener, one of my instant favourites. My other favourites include Make It Look Good, Faded, Dedicated, YDKWTD, Meteorite, One More Try. Ok I'll stop before I list the entire album lol. I'm convinced the new single should be YDKWTD. Thirsty would be a great choice too but it seems more people have clicked with YDKWTD. Welcome back Mariah. Love you eternally.

Shocked and amazed by how amazing this album is. Started work even earlier - 6am Bank Holiday morning so I could listn to it in peace. I was blown away how fantastic it is. I hope it's a win on the charts, but if it isn't it's still gold in my eyes. Fav tracks are Metorite, You don't what you're doing, Supernatural and Faded. Very happy for 2 missing tracks to be added on the deluxe. I think they finish the album of great.

I can't help but find it (44,107)
by Anthony Basco from Cardiff, Wales

Ironic that Triumphant was left off this album as, in my opinion, upon first listen, MIAM is a triumph. Wow. I am blown away. I seriously and genuinely cried when it got to the end of Cry (first impression - wth? Incredible song) and danced and bopped my way through until I got to The Art Of Letting Go (when I cried again). This is Mariah's most coherent album, and I can truly feel so many deep emotions coming from her. I feel it's her most "true" album after Butterfly. I feel so elated after hearing this piece of work. Mariah, I just want to say thank you. The Art Of Letting Go is the single most important song ever to me, for so many reasons, and I get a real sense of triumph over adversity in it, as opposed to be it being a sad song, I find it empowering (yes, I'd heard and loved the song when it was released months ago, and bought it naturally, it just seems even more powerful now after hearing the rest of the album). Thank you again Mariah. Even if you aren't even nominated, you genuinely deserve every best album award going. This album is triumphant.

Elena / top 5 albums / Me. I Am Mariah... (44,106)

Hey Elena, no you're not the only one who absolutely loves E=MC2. I always preferred it to TEOM personally. In fact, it's in my top 5 MC albums at number 3. My top five albums are: 1. Butterfly 2. Emotions 3. E=MC2 4. Charmbracelet 5. Daydream That's not including MIAMTEC. Which I'm just about to listen to. Downloaded it around 2am last night and waited to wake up after a good sleep to listen to it fresh. Needless to say I've felt like a child on Christmas Eve. I'll post my opinions after a few listens.

Triumphant (44,105)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
I didn't like Triumphant when it first came out, and I didn't listen to it for ages. Then, when the album's release was inching closer, I made a playlist on Spotify of her new songs for the era (Triumphant, Almost home, Beautiful, TAOLG and YME), and then the track grew on me. There's a certain urgency to it which is kind of cool, and I love her ad libs at the end of the song. It probably would never have worked as a single (especially lead), but I also think it deserved a place on the album. Really the deluxe should have featured Triumphant and Almost Home instead of the MOAIA rehashes.

Cry opens up the album exquisitely. I love how I can just immersed myself in her music and let our queen take me wherever she wants to with her vocal acrobatics. This will be one of her greatest era, and the whole world will know why Mariah Carey is Mariah Carey. She is irreplaceable and this album will be talk on and on for generations, being sampled and being a rich source of inspirations for other. Thank you Mariah. We love you.
