Thirsty (43,571)
by Darryle from USA
| |
|

Forgot to add this to my last post but I love the sound of a drink being poured at the beginning of the song. Matches the title perfectly and shows once again how much time she puts into details.

Thirsty (43,570)
by Darryle from USA

This songs is a guaranteed hit. It's upbeat, it sounds ready for summer and the lyrics will grab everyone attention. Mariah's using all the language teenagers use thirsty, g, Instagram. I use them often so now when people hear a song called Thirsty they'll want to buy it. She's giving new meaning to the word as well thirsty for a dream. Typically thirsty is like desperate for a man. It's got an incredibly catchy chorus and great hook. If she promotes this right it will be a hit.

Damizza? (43,568)
by PJW from The U.K.
| |
|
|
I'd say it's about Damizza? Either him or Marc Sudak, but most likely him. Her and Damizza were close, she was the biggest name he had and yeah, I guess you could apply the diss she throws to his career and Instagram - the latter is full of "throwback Thursdays" featuring the big stars he once worked with (Diddy, Eminem). He seems to have changed his name from Damizza to Young Damian Young and to tie him into her life recently, last year (or the year before?) she had to file a cease and desist against him for the autobiography he wrote with chapters discussing their relationship and despite the order he went ahead with it. That's my guess. My opinion of the track? It's not what I wanted from Mariah in any shape or form. Even as a hip hop club track, it lacks the uniqueness Mariah can bring. Saying that, it's a decent, bouncy tube with a catchy hook and so on that front does the job it sets out to, I'm sure. The production is overwhelming but one thing I'm grateful for is that the production on this album seems a step up from the last two.

This is what I've been waiting for. Mariah is delivering a sizziling summer banger baby. The radio is going this up. After I heard this song I knew it would get mixed emotions from some lambs, because there will always be some that want the 90's Mariah, Well it's 2014 okay not the 90's. Mariah has released 3 ballads (AH, YM, TAOLG) , and 2 mid tempo songs (Triumphant, and Beautiful), and now an up tempo song, So I don't know why people still are complaining she has released every type of song so far unless you want country and rock lol. Anyways some lambs may not like it but the general public will eat this song up. It's so catchy and current, the radio will play this song all summer like they did with Obsessed. Cant wait to see Mariah have the WMA turn up from Thirsty. Good job Mariah, ignore the haters, this song will take over, mark my words. Oh did I mention all the great reviews this song has gotten, even the hater Perez Hilton likes it aha.

I don't care what anyone says, this song is badass and when it's on it makes my car speakers sound like they're going to explode. This is just what Mariah and her fanbase needed. Ballads are great but it was time to switch it up, this officially amped the level of excitement for this album for me and I think it's a great song, especially for summer.

Ugh ya thirsty, ugh ya thirsty (43,563)

Hail yes I am. This single is hot. I agree with others on here, please just support Mariah and stop trashing her. I don't think it's like Migrate but if so it's Migrate but advanced to today's radio r&B smash-a-ru. I love it and especially the breakdown orchestra sequence in middle. I think Mariah using her iTunes link was brilliant to get her album back in the top 40 on iTunes. Remember she wants us to hear this album as a whole, so I think releasing it to buy individually is not what she or the label will do. Preorder indeed. But the remix could be released after the album drops. Mimi is back with this one.

I am loving the new song. Still trying to figure out all the correct lyrics. Wonder who she was thinking about when she wrote this. Only 2 more weeks. I can't wait to bump this in my car.

I read all your comments before I could listen to it and I thought I was going to hate the track but after one listen the hook was in my head straight away. I think it's a great song and hope it really helps to launch the album.

How anyone who is a fan of Mariah can say this song is nothing less than spectacular is beyond me. Mariah sounds current and stays true to Mariah. This is Mariah in 2914 and it sounds fresh, current and so welcome to her impeccable catalogue. I apologise to those who don't like it as I rule ugly feel you're missing out.

I liked Thristy because it's 100% Mimi, I don't like to see MC following trends and losing her personality.

I'm completely glued to my laptop, can't stop listening to it. I love it. It's so hot and aggressive. Such a fresh direction for her. I'm a bit disappointed by those lambs who said they didn't like it, but I guess we all have our own preferences. This song is pure fire.

"Thirsty" slang (43,556)
by Reuben Walton from United States
| |

It's actually been a fairly common term in the hip hop/rap/r&b lexicon for at least 13 years. I remember Eve mentioned it in her song "Satisfaction" from 2001.

"Thirsty" is thirsting for some "Long Ago" off of "Daydream" vocals (43,554)
by John from USA
| |
|
|
I like the song, although it will take a few more listens before I fully get into it. Oddly enough the song's dynamics and tempo changes remind me of Long Ago from the Daydream CD. To me that song was vocal perfection (as is virtually all of Daydream's cuts). "Thirst" plus "Long Ago"-style vocals would've constituted major slayage.

Are you thirsty? (43,553)
by Andrew crisostomo from Canada, niagara falls

I like the version without the rapper. I think some fan "critics" aren't showing so much love for the song because they are Mariah traditionalists. In a way I am too like we all are. Not used to this style. Songs aight, don't like it as a single. Although it would do good on the charts I believe. I hope it's just released and not an official single like TAOLG. I like it though even though because I'm very thirsty for some Mariah.

I know many like her rap collabos, and sometimes I do too. However, I always like when she puts out the song with just her and then the rap is featured on a remix. It's nice. I'm not liking the trend with the cuss words, but that's just me. Remember, I listen to this stuff a lot with my kids in the car, so a clean version (remember Edward, lol) would be nice. I can't help but think as I listen to it, the song is a reminder to Nick to keep it in check. Maybe the divorce rumors are true. I hope not. Time will tell. Nice song. Catchy beat. This is the kind of song the GP will request on the radio.

Fans (43,551)
by G.G. from USA

True fans this, real fans that. That is the problem. Some folks agree with everything Mariah says and does. MC needs real, honest people with thoughts of their own around her to give constructive criticism. Not just "yes" people. I love Mariah, but I will not pretend to like something I don't. She needs honest people with their own ideas and concepts to tell her the truth. I had such high hopes for this album. I've heard five of the songs now and I've only liked one. It's not looking good. She needs to regroup and get a completely new team around her from top to bottom. If she still wants to sell albums, she has to be a little more flexible and adapt.

Negativity (43,550)
by Eternal from Italy
| |
|

Mariah really can't get a break. She has two groups of lambs: the first group loves her pop and adult contemporary stuff, like #Beautiful, Hero, etc, and are likely to be the older fans. The second group likes her newer stuff post-Mottola, with the hip hop and R&B grooves, like Obsessed, Touch My Body. Adding to this she also has to appeal to the public and achieve mainstream success. She has to keep her old fan base yet try to reach new, younger listeners, which is tough competition in an industry that favors 20-somethings. Mariah herself prefers the hip hop stuff; she has more than once mentioned in interviews this year how she still wants to make that kind of hip hop records that make her happy. She has managed to somehow combine the best of both worlds to make a song that is equal parts hip-hop, R&B, and a club banger and people are now questioning why she's still doing hip hop. This is the genre she has always fought for since the early days, and eventually led to the end of her first marriage, why should she intentionally change the kind of music she makes just to blend in with current trends? It's her album, it's her songs. Just because one declares oneself a lamb doesn't give one a right to slam the song within hours of its release, claiming flop or whatever. It's 1 song off an album of 14 tracks. There's a song for every kind of listener. Say you're not feeling it, but stop picking at everything.

Thirsty (43,549)
by Lee from UK

Ok, I finally have access to Thirsty. I wish I could say it was worth the wait. It could literally have been sung by anyone with vocal chords (it may as well have been Rhianna singing it). I hope this is not indicative of the rest of the album.

Illegal downloading (43,548)
by Lee from UK

No wonder so many people choose to illegally download music. What's the point of releasing a song if it can only be bought or heard in certain countries? The only version of Thirsty I can hear is the sped up versions on YouTube which make Mariah sound like Rhianna.

Cover / promo pics (43,546)
by Shezz from Pk

So it doesn't take a keen eye to notice that Mimi has been using pics from a year ago when she was in great shape for album, single covers etc. Just read a comment on twitter likening her pics to out of date Grindr pics which I found funny. I don't have a problem with old pics but it makes people think she's photoshopped herself to shape when she actually was in that shape a year ago.

Big ballad (43,545)
by Licia from USA

Did people really think a song named "Thirsty" was going to be a ballad? Seriously? Of all the songs on the tracklist Thirsty is the last song I would think would be a ballad or even a mid tempo song.
